I actually don't think it is the same situation. Were you working for a company based in your home country at the time? Sauli has a visa as a journalist working for another country. This VISA and rules are probably different thtn the one you are referring to. But I am just guessing! :-/ I did some googling, and it seems like there is no difference regarding the driver's license rules based on the type of the work permit. If you have a work permit, or if you are an immigrant in the US, you need to get a driver's license, if you want to drive. But this is definitely not clear. There is also some variance between states.

So, I am clearly capable of starting controversial discussions today, wow! Did not know that the charity thing was one of those. Perhaps I should start NAL / Tommy discussion, or Betray for Money or AMAs...Jeah, given the vibe here...these must just run great today.....J/K - no I do not want to discuss these....not in the least.
Here is what I see:
The charity activities and the participation of thousands across the world to come together to do something because they feel so inspired by Adam that they want to give back themselves has been one of the most wonderful things to see. Talk about an energy that was real and palatable show up in wonderful results - that's what it was. Adam inspires in so many ways, this was just one way people this manifested itself.
People may have different motivations to do this, but while there were calls to reach certain milestones, there was never any pressure on anyone to contribute. As far as people showing absurd levels of entitlement. First of all, among the thousands who gave generously, why are we focusing on these few and their feelings? Some of these nonsense posts were made by trolls. Why are we allowing them to have power over us 1 year later? Wut? The rest of us gave because we thought it was a great organization, great cause, whatever our reasons were. Yes, I do admit for me the fan base aspect mattered, because of course I can give some donation to any water or education charity that I want, anytime. I joined this effort because I wanted to contribute in this manner. But if the next person did not care about that aspect, so what?
My only point was, if we want to get Adam to somewhere say something about which charity he wants us to focus on to channel the existing energy, he will need to say so. But he is probably waiting to be asked by the fan base, because otherwise it looks like he is requesting it - as in expecting it from us, which I am sure somebody on this planet would take objection to as well.
I don't even know why this is hard to understand? So is anyone on board to give this some attention on twitter and we can discuss how we get this done or am I alone just wondering off in amazement how even the best of all projects can be shitted all over, if tried hard enough.

Are we sure it is a tatoo and S hasn't just been writing on himself with a ballpoint pen? Yep, doesn't look like a tattoo (not a good one anyway) and the word OOTA wouldn't make much sense. I liked the idea of two rings though... Probably he was just playing with a pen and had no idea of that ppl would talk about it later, lol. ;D I can't believe it's a tatoo, I vote it's pen. But it is on his right hand--would he write with his left hand?

[tries out Diet Coke lollipop] [sighs happily] To hell with Adam and Sauli's health kick, and their uber-energy concoctions! I'm still keeping my caffeinated, Nutrasweet-flavored phosphoric acid addiction for myself !!! ;D ;D

Re Drivers Licenses; When we moved from Australia to NC 12 years ago we could use our Aussie licenses for 3 months but then had to get a NC license. We had to sit both the written and practical diving test but could drive ourselves to the DMV office and if either of us failed would have been legally entitled to drive ourselves home again as long as the 3 months weren't up. Getting the drivers license is essential if you are living here just for ID although a passport is also acceptable as ID. An alternative is to get an International Drivers License before you leave home which is valid for a year in 150 countries including the US.
The situation with Sauli is that he is not a Greencard holder and therefore not considered a permanent resident and everytime he leaves the country and returns I believe he can drive for another 3 months on his Finnish license. However his life will be much easier here if he gets a CA license. A CA license will only be valid for the length of his visa if it's the same rules as NC.

JunieMoon
I have to add that I absolutely love all the different opinions, the strength of passion behind those opinions, and the sharing of those opinions. This forum really is a special space, a truly safe space to share, a space where people are willing to put up opinions and are willing to go through the afterward when people post their opposing one. People here are sensitive, caring, and openminded. (Though it always feels like a daunting heep of people giving an opposing opinion)
I love that we are all learning together and are all open to learning together. Because lots of people like to weigh in especially when the topic is interesting and evocative. Your topic was interesting and evocative. That is exactly why this forum is such an amazing forum.
Finally, I love the way you think about the vibes between Adam and the fan base and I truly get that. I can be very passionate and very opinionated and I get ignored when I sit on a tuffet about something which is almost worse than being criticized.
I realized after I posted my response to you that I was sitting on an unconscious tuffet and had to return and modify my post. Unfortunately people probably read the first version. Ahh well.
