Cassie -- I agree that there is a more "pop" tone to his voice, and it sounds a little younger in parts of the song to me. More narrowly focused vibrato, more pure sound and tightly controlled. It made parts of the song (quiet parts and the bridge) sound young and vulnerable, which was very effective. I am continually amazed by what Adam can do with his voice, and this song showed a sense of openness and fragility in parts that took my breath away. I also really grooved along to the beat and loved the drums and keys! I do think he was really focusing and somewhat nervous because this was a really big moment for him.
i can imagine him thinking, "will they like it"? Will it go well -- will this be accepted? Were my instincts right on this? There is a lot of pressure on Adam this time and much higher expectations from so many people. Including himself--I am sure he put a lot of pressure on himself to get this performance just right. He is such a total professional that we shouldn't worry--and he has grown so much into himself that it is a pleasure to watch him now.
This was the culmination of an entire year's worth of work and planning for Adam -- it really was an opening night, which is an apt description for a theater person. It was not only the first performance of a new song, it was the transition to a new era. Opening night means not only some jitters and the hope that everything will go well, but it also means the presentation of new music, a whole new idea and mind-set for Adam and his band. Of course there was the usual opening night incident with Ashley's strap, but she handled it well.
I saw only two of the spit moments, which just illustrates how focused his projection was! Spit happens.
Fabulous performance and really a great start to era 2. I think the album is going to blow everyone away, and I can't wait to see him perform this music!!!!!!

I don't get where media gets that Adam is a loose canon. Besides the AMA shit the boy is almost a FREAKIN BOYSCOUT. Drunken Finland fights aside. Srsly the media is whack lol Well, not "loose cannon" in the way the media usually means it. This author, I believe, is coming from a business, branding and marketing angle. The model he used of star, cash cow, loose cannon and dog was not developed for Idol or for Adam. He is just applying it to Idol and using Adam as an example of the concept of loose cannon..... a commodity which has great potential to have great impact and earn lots, but also a commodity that is so unique and out of the box that it is unpredictable, and will need special handling to make the best success. As a business model, it makes sense to me. I kind of agree, and I would add that Adam is less of a "loose cannon" than an unknown entity. No one like him has been let loose on the American public before and the biggest unknown factor has been and to an extent continues to be audience response. Fans aside, how will people respond to him? How will PDs, DJs, other media respond? Will they dismiss him outright for reasons that have zero to do with his talent? What image will best further Adam's and his labels goals? How to best market him? Etc, etc.

As usual, I missed all the flailing, but I did NOT miss Adam on Leno last night, and have watched on my big screen at least 20+ times. Amazing! Hot! Unf**kinbelievable VOCALS! Intense, Vulnerable, Deeply Moving Performance! Loved the band, they all look great, hip, cool, and sounded stellar. Ashley is fierce!
So excited to see how he morphs this song in future renderings.
Absolutely THRILLED with the press coverage, all of it is Glowing and Berting!
This is Adam's time to shoot through to the upper stratosphere of stardom.
We are one lucky group of people to be stanning this man, and are getting ready for one hellofa ride! Adam Storm NOW!
KUDOS to Adam for suing those bastards, I hope he rakes them through the coals, and totally destroys them. Go Adam! Fight Fight Fight! Win Win Win!
I don't mind seeing pics of Sauli, but we have a rule about having 5 pics of Adam for every pic of Sauli. That rule was not followed today - thus the fuss. You have a bunch of pics of Sauli, and not very many of Adam. On a day like today, after his first live performance that was so incredible, this whole thread should be going crazy for Adam, Bert Bert Bert!!!!! I get it.
ETA: At first, I wasn't thrilled with Adam's look for the performance. I wanted him to look really sexy edgy, like in the pic for BTIKM and the one he posted for his new avi for twitter. But I think that he is shooting for a broader audience appeal, as many of the reviews have mentioned, and he looked like the Idol star we all fell in love with at the start. I do think he looks better with a little bit of eyeliner on! But he looked gorgeous, and his vocals were extraordinary. Loved the high notes in the end, you can't take the rock star out of our boy! As for the "pop" sound, I would bet that he did this on purpose to appeal to the "pop" radio gods. It worked, big time. I thought he sounded betterer than perfect!

I'm sorry, but I agree. Aren't we owed like 45 145 Adam pictures right now? We are getting the most news we've had about Adam in the past year. And it's FANTASTIC!!! Adam Storm has started in incredible force and yet somehow the subject gets getting changed back to Sauli. Look I love the guy, and think he's adorable and LOVE that he and Adam are so happy, but he is Adam's significant other and has nothing to do with his career and why we are here. Sauli has kept us informed and happy and laughing through some long, tough waiting and I adore him for it. I love his blogs and am incredibly grateful for all the hard work Mia and Zinnia put into Sauli Central, but THIS IS THE DEBUT SINGLE PERFORMANCE REVIEWS WE ARE GETTING HERE. And the most detail we've heard about the album we've been waiting a YEAR for. I don't know, I guess I'm mystified ... it happened last night on Twitter. We went from flailing our brains out over that magnificent performance to trending OOFTA in five minutes. Suddenly Adam's STELLAR achievement was overshadowed by random flail and speculation about something private between Adam and Sauli. Sorry, being totally candid here, but I don't get it. I've been waiting for a post that I can agree with. Thank you for speaking out.

Hoppers has addressed this, but I just want to add that this would be a boring place indeed if we all liked the same things and agreed on everything. Pretty much anything related to Adam is fair game for discussion as long as the few rules are respected. Pages and pages of discussion about what people like to discuss and what they don't like to discuss doesn't count for Adam news, btw. If there is something you'd like to discuss, bring it up! The power is in your keyboard. No need to wait for someone to post something that is of interest to you-- go ahead and post it yourself The family dinner table analogy is apt, and there can easily be several different topics going on at once, with people chiming in on the ones they are interested in. And as a side bonus, scrolling burns calories! ;D

Could we consider this as pea throwing? :D Crossing the lines is the fun part ;D ;D ;D Well, sometimes I feel I am in the wrong fansite since I am not a fan of Adam's BF or any of his ex-lovers and I come here as Adam fan only. But I don't mind a few mention of his pic or Adam related subject. He's the one that make him happy and that make me happy as well. Wish I could record this so written word doesn't come out being harsh- My thought on the Sauli or not to Sauli issue is that there are days when 10 pages are taken up with IPhone discussions, dog discussions, technical discussions, none of which interest me at all, so I scroll. I DO like to hear about Sauli and because I have lots of time on my hands, I don't jump onto ATOP for few minutes here and there but stay on a lot. Adam is my # 1 priority, but how many ways are there to say he was fabulous on Leno, here are other websites that say the same thing, etc. What does it hurt to spread the love around and include some Sauli tidbits. It used to be the same when it came to Tommy. No one wanted him mentioned. Never did I think they were a couple, but I liked Tommy, I appreciated Isaac for the pictures he tweeted. Monte, Longineu, and Cam were fine, but there was seldom anything to say about them. In conclusion I feel that it is a live and let live website, sort of like a buffet. I'll have the salad but not the soup. You'll have the soup and the veggies but not the salad and someone else just wants the meat and potatoes. It's not like we're paying per post and our money is being wasted. #TRESPASSING One more thought. I'm one of those people whose Apple computer freezes if there is more than one gif posted at a time, but when I had a pc, I loved the gifs and snorted at the complaints, so now I take the good with the bad and love my Mac in spite of its one flaw. Watching Adam move is always a joy, even if it is only for 4 seconds or so.

Interesting day today. We started on an adrenaline high yesterday eagerly anticipating the Leno performance. Then, bb KILLED it.Looked so good, sounded so good, presented a different sound/image. Got lots of hormones and endorphins flowing, if you know what I mean.
Then, today, more squeeage as more members got to watch the clips and as media sites began to rave about it. Lots of good stuff to feed our addiction.
Then, in the afternoon we started to come down off the high. But, we didn't want to walk away from ATop. We wanted to keep on talking. We looked around for other topics of interest. We cast our net out a little further. Oh, OOFTA --> relationship --->Sauli ---> when did he get sexy. A natural progression.
Truth is, we are all highly addicted at this point, and it is tough to continually feed the addiction in order to maintain that exhilaration. Hence, we have topics such as Sauli, OOFTA, meatballs, juice cleanses, communes, brussel sprouts, and bull semen, with a little Kelly Clarkson, the national anthem and Dubin thrown into the mix. We are eclectic, if nothing else.
So, patience, my friends. Pick your topic and scroll thru the rest. Or, help me assemble wonderful comments about the VOICE in the Adam Salon (which is what I have picked to focus on rather than the esoteric meaning of a private tattoo or how sexy Sauli is/isn't/was/wasn/t/will be/won't be. )
Do we have a group hug smiley??

After watching the Leno performance countless times I have to add to all the flailing. It was spectacular! I am amazed at all the attention from press this performance is receiving! I don't remember this happening for Leno before. I guess because it was the debut.
