mys*&@^#r50 BTIKM was played on Q102 and Maxwell played the OOFTA interview again and made a comment that he got an interview before Ryan did! Loving Maxwell!!! Thanks, guys for the replies about Takeover Hour! I still feel bad that I badger you all about it but it's on at a time that I can't even do it! So glad Maxwell got an interview before Ryan! Q102 deserved that! And as someone upthread mentioned, if Ryan had actually done a decent interview, he might have gotten that juicy tidbit about Adam doing more with Queen this year. To me, that is news worthy! Glad the SF stations got so much love today! Actually I appreciate it... its kind of fun to be honest. I live in 99.5 Land and I've decided not to request the single until it hit their play list. IMO its pointless and they don't need a bunch of people requesting a song they are not ready to play. I'll leave the badgering to a more eager fan. So Q102 is kind of fun and they expect fans to hit the site, so I'm good.

Susie--About Adam's new look. I think it's TOTALLY a great strategy. Not only does it fit in with his theme of wanting to gain broader acceptance and be taken srsly as a musician--not just the OTT gay kid from Idol--but it's a common thing in pop music to reinvent your look continually. I gotta say, while I always like the eyeliner, I am SO GLAD whatever makeup he is wearing nowadays is more subtle. That heavy caked on shit just highlighted any skin imperfections--gotta say now his skin is looking next to flawless!!--and aged him a good 5 to 10 yrs imo. I dunno if it was the way it was applied or just because a guy wearing full on face makeup can be tricky, but I love the *softer* look. Also loving the softer hair. He just looks good and more accessible which will def help him gain more fans, casual and whatnot. Plus, sad as it is for me to say lol, his look now won't intimidate the straight dudes. LOLThis...my 19 year old saw the BTIKM cover photo and commented how much "straighter" Adam looks... guys won't be embarassed to play his Queen stuff if he looks like this !" And he does like Adam's voice, thinks he's a "cool " performer but this is the first time he's stopped to note what I'm viewing and make an interested remark. As was said...one fan at a time!

It is really more than just loving his fans. Many artists love their fans but few seem to have the genuine APPRECIATION that Adam has for his fans. Good lord he even called us "ladies of a certain age" his surrogate mothers! He truly appreciates the passion and love that we feel for him and the protectiveness. He has a sincere appreciation for the powerful weapon that we can be when focused in the right direction and he has shaped and molded us into an incredible asset to his career. He has also returned our loyalty and devotion with his own loyalty to us and he has forced the media to recognize our strength. He has truly made us partners in his success. He really has changed the way media perceives a passionate fan base. This, totally this. I just want to hug and save this post, and read it over and over again. This is what I feel when reading or listening to him talk. You just really feel the love and appreciation in his voice. It's just so genuine. Gah, maybe I just need some sleep, but I just feel so overwhelmed, from all of the news from the past few days. I believe that Adam's ability to appreciate and respect his older, female "surrogate mothers" results in large part from the reverance and respect he seems to have for his own mother.

Let me preface this with saying that I haven't listened to any of the radio stuff yet except for Maxwell. But regarding Ryan Seacrest...I've always thought he's damn good at his job. All the billion jobs he does. I hold no animus towards him. Adam DOES have granny fans. He has lots of others, but it's still considered huh? to like a singer if they're male and gay. And if you're a straight girl, then people ask the weirdest question, meaning why would you like a singer if they're gay, meaning there's suddenly nothing attractive about him. Even though, objectively, he may be an "object" of beauty. Gay men are desexualized in order to be palatable, and then add older women - forget it. Older women are supposed to be beyond that, just be moms and grandmoms, and not consider a pop star or actor attractive, or go to concerts, or listen to Top 40. So you could say Ryan's comments are 1) anti-gay and 2) anti-women and 3) anti-age and get mad, or just shrug it off and not take it personally. Sorry to bring it up again, I can never post during the day and by the time I get on, I'm way behind. If you have time or interest to listen to the interview, do it so that you can form your own opinion. I personally thought up to now that Ryan was pretty ok. And I defended much-reviled PH here yesterday, because according to my own experience he's not THAT bad. But I was just mad after listening to Ryan's "interview" this morning. It was just dumb! Yes, Adam has older fans. But why on earth talk about THAT, when there are gazillion other topics to discuss? And the second part wasn't much better, in my opinion. By the way, when I joined this fandom more intensely some time ago, I was totally impressed that there are ladies among Adam's fans who are as old as my mom (and I'm approach big 4-0 myself) who are so savvy when it comes to technology, totally hip, cool, knowledgeable, smart and modern! My mom can't even text, and definitely does not listen to popular music. That just proves that age is just a number!

He is spinning it, so I'd request it, if I were you. Most people who listen to radio, request songs they like. They don't follow numbers, or adds, or playlists. If you hear them spin it, then request away!!

You are probably correct... On a happier note, I just realized I'm not old enough to be his mother. Babysitter maybe, mom, no. Whew. I can go back to stanning now. 8-)
