Just a quick post-- re: falsetto.
Although some (or many?) singers may consider this technique a "cheat" there are many others who consider it a valuable tool in their singing repertoire. They like it for the lightness, the beauty and the variation it brings to the song.
Adam uses it perfectly. He never just sings falsetto for its own sake (BeeGees). He places it carefully within a song for emphasis, for sweetness and tenderness, for prettiness.
I love it when he uses it. Rather than being weak, his false is ringing, pure and gorgeous. And never, ever overdone.

So I am in San Diego this week, and staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. I had totally forgot that Adam's Kiss costume was on display here, and it freaked me out when I walked up onto it. I kind of felt stupid because I felt a sense of excitement like I was actually meeting him..LOL! I remember seeing the same display and meeting some of the members on this board (and PF) that day. #Priceless.

LMFAO. "Occasionally spotted like Bigfoot" DED *snort* RR and Chunkey - Sure that cleared my sinuses but now I have to sop my imported-from-mexico coca cola off the keyboard. This is why we can't have nice things and I'm always having to explain to the Nerd Herd why my computer won't work.

I love this one! And I just love Adam so much too....... Does anybody recognize the music that is played at the very end of this video? Don't know about the music but I think this is the most intimate sharing interview I have heard do date. He opens up a lot about the relationship and how cute is the comment about how he and Sauli talking about if "are they getting boring" hahaha Also not sure which interview but where he called us surrogate mothers and made the comment that it made him feel "protected" was super precious! So much going on it is hard to keep up. And Re Queen, there must be some concrete plans already if Adam is actually talking about it - so exciting. and susiefierce: I agree that the current look makes him more "cool" for the hetero guys and frankly right now, I don't think that is a bad thing. Reel them in and once he is the superstar we know he will be it won't matter at that point - what I mean is that by then the hetero guys can like Adam no matter the look once he is perceived as more than a mere mortal in society. The GNT time zone was too soon to reel them in to the voice if they couldn't get past the look...

But I will admit, I found the opening questions from the gay station in SF equally as out of touch and clueless. The ones who opened with, "We have so many straight females who want to convert you." Really? REALLY??? I've met an assload of Adam fans in my day and I cannot name a single ONE who has ever had any delusions about "converting him." I'm not saying they don't exist, but I think they're in the EXTREME minority. I see this in Adam's mentions (not @'s) all the time, often tweeted by young women not in fandom, and I think it's a joke and meant as a joke by the two DJ's as well. I've never seen it meant in seriousness at all. (Weren't the radio station guys referring to a woman from their station as well? She was making twitter jokes about strap-ons, her and Adam the other day). Adam correctly pointed out the underlying obnoxiousness, but also that it's really meant as a compliment. I get that. And I also get: I KNOW the DJs didn't think it was possible, and the issue was not at all about "was conversion possible," but that the entire concept arises from the preconception (which they WERE perpetuating, joking or not) that a woman cannot find a gay man hotter than shit without thinking she has a chance to sleep with him. This is a myth. It's as big a myth as the conversion BS. Straight women GET that gay men are gay. They can STILL find them extremely attractive without any delusions about ever being with them. And the conversation with the DJs, joking or no, dumbs down that fact, IMO.

I think that there is definitely a 'squeaky (and more cash and time flush) wheel get's the grease' phenomena with regards to how Adam fans have been perceived by the media and in some ways by others outside the fandom. The same faces at radio meet and greets things irks me too, but it is similar to certain prominent personality types interacting with media personalities on twitter or flocking to comments sections -- making noise frequently gets you noticed. The thing that bothered me the most about the fan bit on Ryan wasn't the age or tipsy-ness in fact (or that it was hardly fair to single them out), it was the Elvis comparison. If the squeaky wheels don't seem to be interested in, or are even outright dismissive and contempous of pop music - the genre of music Adam is making, the music top 40 radio is playing, there is a disconnect there, and radio DJs who only really notice these squeaky fans could assume that this isn't a fanbase that their airplay needs to cater to. (Not that they are necessarily making airplay decisions, but you get my drift). There is a fan on follow on twitter who is younger and I've always been really impressed by the way she interacts with media and comments sections by being positive and light. I was looking at Ryan's @ replies and she was one of several younger fans slightly fed up and saying 'I'm right here, I've been here all along, why don't you see me, I feel invisible'. I'm Ryan's age, but sometimes reading through comment after comment here about hating to listen to pop radio, about how it's all crap, about how rap isn't real music (it's been around 30 years, it's not going away, and it does have complexity and validity) I feel the same way, a little invisible. I totally appreciate the diversity of the fanbase here and everywhere else, btw, this isn't directed at anyone, I'm just lamenting a little bit the lack of time to be squeaky I guess. For me my first mental image of Elvis (and I'm a little ashamed that this is frankly the first thing that comes to mind, because I know it's not fair to his legacy at all) is of a troubled Vegas act who died on his toilet and is occasionally spotted like Bigfoot. What if the group of ladies interviewed had said Adam reminded them of Justin Timberlake? Or that they love Adam and Bruno the best of the Male pop singers? How might that have thrown a wrench in the narrative? I'm just thinking aloud a bit. EXCELLENT post rabbitrabbit. Very well said. As a 29-year old Adam fan, I feel the same way many times. I feel like this meme of the "old Adam fan" has been now beaten into the ground so many times, and it's frustrating that it's not changing. And IT IS damaging to Adam's image, that's the reality, regardless of how we think things should be. I feel very conflicted about this, because I do appreciate the diversity in the fandom, and I am obviously on this board which does skew older, and I love it. My personal strategy about dealing with this whole thing is to be as visible about my age as possible, to be honest. I try to make a little difference by liberally showing my age to people with whom I interact in real life and online (i.e. other fans, the media, my family, etc). I talk about my age even more than I normally would, tbh, just so that I'm extra visible. I've considered putting my pic up too for the same reason, but I'm too fucked up about anonymity to do it. But then sometimes it feels like I have made no difference, and it's annoying.

What if the group of ladies interviewed had said Adam reminded them of Justin Timberlake? Or that they love Adam and Bruno the best of the Male pop singers?
Good point, I see, but the interviewer specifically asked them who they remembered from their teen years.
But I totally get your point.
But if the ladies had said JT, I think Ryan would've just chosen a different interview tape of ladies who didn't say that.
But I THINK I did see a tweet asking Ryan when exactly Adam would be on so as not to have to listen to "crap" for hours - and thinking "yikes."
But does Ryan really need to "punish" Adam because some of his ardent fanbase from American Idol, the show Ryan hosts, are in his eyes "clueless" and "irrelevant" older women? I don't think so because he knows that everyone who comes off Idol has those fans. And they have others, too. And Adam is gaining other fans who may very well be just as young and therefore "relevant" as . . . say, Ryan's own 23 year old girlfriend!
Therefore, I agree with theory proposed earlier that Ryan was ticked off that Adam was, literally, phoning it in. (Or maybe Julianne Hough has an Adam-crush and Ryan's jealous -jk.)

Susie Fierce -
You may have posted about this and I missed it (sooo much to read/watch/listen to!), but did your friends who were at the Ellen taping share their experiences with you?
