So I am in San Diego this week, and staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. I had totally forgot that Adam's Kiss costume was on display here, and it freaked me out when I walked up onto it. I kind of felt stupid because I felt a sense of excitement like I was actually meeting him..LOL!

Ryan knows the big push for Adam right now in the US is radio play. But minutes and minutes of Adam's interview airtime went to that recording, to Ryan's caricature of those women, and to his bogus claim that they and they alone represent Adam's fans. I thought it was meant to be demeaning to Adam (your fans are a joke, thus so are you and your career).
The San Fran dj's saying "all the women wanna convert you" isn't true either, but that didn't feel mean toward Adam, to me. It felt like a compliment to Adam (they wanna 'cuz you're sooo hot).

You are probably correct... On a happier note, I just realized I'm not old enough to be his mother. Babysitter maybe, mom, no. Whew. I can go back to stanning now. 8-) I am old enough to be his mother. He is the same age, or will be January 29th, as my oldest child. However, I feel anything but motherly about him, and now that all my children have flown the coop, I seldom feel all that motherly at all, lol. Something to look forward to. There are days when I forget that I have my own name and it doesn't start and end with a "M".

??? Is this the "muthafuckin' beast" guy? I'm sorry, but I have NO MEMORY when it comes to all these details. :-[ My memory isn't serving me too well, either, but I thought is was Rico (can't think of last name) who made the mfbeast comment. They were all in Florida, but don't remember if Rico and Benny worked on the same songs or if was different sessions. I mostly remember Adam was in Florida for about a week and we didn't know... : Rico Love is the "mutha funking beast" guy. He and Pharrell do some work together......

Strange. I listen to the American DJ interviews of Adam and I feel as though I am in a time warp. It's like they are pickig up from 2010. The new American interviews are like the international inteviews we watched years ago. WUT!!! Yes, I really think the American DJ's really didn't pay ANY attention to what was going on both with Adam's GNT tour success and the international recognition. I also think the Queen gig really did turn a light on for the US dudes to some extent. I recall many on this board saying history was being made that day and I totally agree. To hear Adam will do more one offs with them is great, yet he will focus on his own career. This combination, IMO, will launch recognition of his superstar status in the US to the point that our DJ's will have no choice and will need to get on board. So right now they are having to play catch-up about why, or what has transpired, to have Adam getting all this international attention. And I do think he will break in to the UK this time around.

I have to say tho, as a fan who is basically only a few months older than Adam, I kinda resent the meme that he only has older fans. EDIT: Also have to say that it's not the older fans per se that are embarrassing to potential new fans, but it's the same group who are at every show who have money to burn and are aggressive and obnoxious and stalkerish. There's a part of me that HOPES AGAINST HOPE that they HATE this new album and GTFO to make way for actual saner fans. I think that there is definitely a 'squeaky (and more cash and time flush) wheel get's the grease' phenomena with regards to how Adam fans have been perceived by the media and in some ways by others outside the fandom. The same faces at radio meet and greets things irks me too, but it is similar to certain prominent personality types interacting with media personalities on twitter or flocking to comments sections -- making noise frequently gets you noticed. The thing that bothered me the most about the fan bit on Ryan wasn't the age or tipsy-ness in fact (or that it was hardly fair to single them out), it was the Elvis comparison. If the squeaky wheels don't seem to be interested in, or are even outright dismissive and contempous of pop music - the genre of music Adam is making, the music top 40 radio is playing, there is a disconnect there, and radio DJs who only really notice these squeaky fans could assume that this isn't a fanbase that their airplay needs to cater to. (Not that they are necessarily making airplay decisions, but you get my drift). There is a fan on follow on twitter who is younger and I've always been really impressed by the way she interacts with media and comments sections by being positive and light. I was looking at Ryan's @ replies and she was one of several younger fans slightly fed up and saying 'I'm right here, I've been here all along, why don't you see me, I feel invisible'. I'm Ryan's age, but sometimes reading through comment after comment here about hating to listen to pop radio, about how it's all crap, about how rap isn't real music (it's been around 30 years, it's not going away, and it does have complexity and validity) I feel the same way, a little invisible. I totally appreciate the diversity of the fanbase here and everywhere else, btw, this isn't directed at anyone, I'm just lamenting a little bit the lack of time to be squeaky I guess. For me my first mental image of Elvis (and I'm a little ashamed that this is frankly the first thing that comes to mind, because I know it's not fair to his legacy at all) is of a troubled Vegas act who died on his toilet and is occasionally spotted like Bigfoot. What if the group of ladies interviewed had said Adam reminded them of Justin Timberlake? Or that they love Adam and Bruno the best of the Male pop singers? How might that have thrown a wrench in the narrative? I'm just thinking aloud a bit. rabbitrabbit: love this.

Susie--About Adam's new look. I think it's TOTALLY a great strategy. Not only does it fit in with his theme of wanting to gain broader acceptance and be taken srsly as a musician--not just the OTT gay kid from Idol--but it's a common thing in pop music to reinvent your look continually. I gotta say, while I always like the eyeliner, I am SO GLAD whatever makeup he is wearing nowadays is more subtle. That heavy caked on shit just highlighted any skin imperfections--gotta say now his skin is looking next to flawless!!--and aged him a good 5 to 10 yrs imo. I dunno if it was the way it was applied or just because a guy wearing full on face makeup can be tricky, but I love the *softer* look. Also loving the softer hair. He just looks good and more accessible which will def help him gain more fans, casual and whatnot. Plus, sad as it is for me to say lol, his look now won't intimidate the straight dudes. LOL This. I am all for flying your freak fly high. All for it. And there were times when I thought he looked stunning with glitter and a lot of eyeliner and stuff. But other times it just didn't suit him. JMHO and all that.

Maybe we can break the glass, get a DNA sample and send it to south korea and get him cloned. I saw a story on the news where they did this with a dog. LOL.

But I will admit, I found the opening questions from the gay station in SF equally as out of touch and clueless. The ones who opened with, "We have so many straight females who want to convert you." Really? REALLY??? I've met an assload of Adam fans in my day and I cannot name a single ONE who has ever had any delusions about "converting him." I'm not saying they don't exist, but I think they're in the EXTREME minority. I see this in Adam's mentions (not @'s) all the time, often tweeted by young women not in fandom, and I think it's a joke and meant as a joke by the two DJ's as well. I've never seen it meant in seriousness at all. (Weren't the radio station guys referring to a woman from their station as well? She was making twitter jokes about strap-ons, her and Adam the other day). Adam correctly pointed out the underlying obnoxiousness, but also that it's really meant as a compliment.
