Hmmmmm I was thinking maybe it wouldn't happen this year since he parted ways with 19E. I know he still has a contract with 19R, but I'm not sure how much they make off him and if it would have been worth giving him a slot. 19R makes enough off of him to have him on. Besides, Idol has plenty of people on that have not been with Sony or last year, with Interscope. If they think the artists will pull in ratings they will have them. Oh certainly they've had many a non-19E artist. Ive just always wondered how well they went their separat way when Adam and 19 parted company. I forget, was his contract up Or was it mostly due to the dismantling of 19E artist management leg of the company. ETA: worry?!???? LOL hardly. It's more of a curiosity. I'm the last person that is going to angst in the era. I don't much care if he is on idol. I think he'll have a number of new opportunity with his New management company. Can't deny that era 2 has a whole different vibe to it.

I would guess it's less a matter of what 19R makes off him, and more a matter of Adam being a powerful ambassador for The Power of American Idol. The real money comes from the show, not from the subsequent careers of the Idols. I'm sure 19E is well aware of the buzz surrounding "Trespassing", and will be eager to trot Adam out as a reminder that Idol Creates Stars... ...even if he, Daughtry and JHud were removed from the opening montage in favor of a bunch of Season 10 Idols, some of whom have not yet released a note of original music. It's apparently easier to get into the montage than it used to be. :

WELCOME Gypsy AND ecojm!! *WAVESYes, you'll find us a very friendly bunch. I'm crossing my fingers for a Friday VH1 music video premiere....will be flying to Playa Del Carmen for a week of R&R on Saturday...not gonna lie, the fact that I'm heading to palm trees and unlimited cocktails takes the sting out of likely missing the debut. Adam on AI. Yay! When? I'll force myself to tune in. (so done with that show).

Maybe I'm tooo cynical.

Welcome to our newbies! Yesterday's 2 sixteen year olds and ecojm (23) is going to bring our median lower, maybe by not much, but great to have youthful perspectives.
Anyone watching Majors and Minors? These kids are so talented . They are going through their original compositions! Hard to pick a winner.

Boston top 40 station (Kiss 108) played BTIKM again today and the DJ said Adam is booked to perform on American Idol. Hmmmmm I was thinking maybe it wouldn't happen this year since he parted ways with 19E. I know he still has a contract with 19R, but I'm not sure how much they make off him and if it would have been worth giving him a slot. I think a lot of AI alumns that are not with 19 management and not with Sony are still performing on AI. Adam only parted ways with 19M not 19E. And Adam's one of their rare success story of American Idol, why would they won't have him on the show? Especially now he's promoting his album internationally. How many world wide superstar that graduated from AI? IMO, on the level of Adam is only Kelly. Yes, they have Elliot (Japan), Archie (SE Asia), Daughtry (mostly Asia), but they're not all over the countries.

It's apparently easier to get into the montage than it used to be. : I don't think what 19 does or does not make from him is all that relevant. He would be a contender regardless. The fact that he has 19 connections makes it even more so. The interesting thing is why did Idol take off all the previous stars? When they need them to prove the relevance of the show? I think it was an Interscope thing. They seem to be very territorial. So they've now put all their artists into the opening. *yawn* Still though, Interscope can do their power plays, but they can't pad the entire industry as much as they'd like to. ETA: Sorry, lost my train of thought... I totally agree with you that Adam's buzz, success, etc. only bodes well for the show overall. The more successful he is, the more viable the show is. He's a lock there.

ecojm would you share with us how you first found Adam? We love hearing how newbies found him. My friend pointed him out when he was on Idol, and I was hooked. I'd never heard a guy sing like that (unless you count some of the 80's rockers, but really they couldn't hit those notes in chest voice like Adam can). And then I followed him ever since. I have to admit I didn't like all of FYE, but there were some stellar moments. And, really, as long as I can hear those high notes and belts, I'm happy regardless of the song's content. Of course, though, I'd like him to reach a broader audience so he can keep making music! Really looking forward to this album. Welcome, ecojm!Do Are you by any chance a musician or singer? Have you seen him live? Thanks for sharing details! It's fun to hear others' stories! And also Welcome Gypsy!Don't worry about your level of fanaticism--but I'll bet you'll go a little deeper down the rabbithole after 3/20! ;D
