I don't think this is accurate:Adam is moving up in both spins and Audience Impression in both HAC and CHR. He is 41 on HAC tonight and will probably be Top 40 by Friday. Nothing about this is bad. And, for the first time since the single came out (not counting the Ellen bounce) the song has actually moved up on i-Tunes!! So nothing has happened negative besides people misinterpreting things and, IMO, panicing for no reason. Yeah, really. WUT? "hell in a handbasket with regard to radio" I sure as heck don't see that. Makes me appreciate keyboard's measured sensible calm posts even more. keyboard has knowledge and experience in the music business. I so appreciate his visits and the insights and views he shares with us. |

Twotrue, LOVED your post!!! You totally nailed the complexity of the entire situation and I didn't perceive your, "suddenly, everything has gone to hell" literally, but that was the sudden, inexplicable murmurings we were getting – whether it was from angsters, haters, random passive-aggressive DJ/asst. PDs, other PDs, the dreaded "sources close to the label" or those who were validating their contentions.
I think the vast majority of us didn't want to believe any of this and still don't. It's not like we're bailing or questioning his relevance or longevity in any way, we're just trying to understand the situation and how we are supposed to modify our expectations. If we are at all. I think A LOT of us hoped this arbitrary bullshit would have run its course two years later. Apparently, it has not. So we have to come to terms with that.
And there are tons of conflicting messages. On one hand, this album is being set up to be an Magnum Opus for him and we have music media types flailing their ever-loving brains out over it and on the other hand we have random radio peeps who are starting a whisper campaign to undermine the viability of a very good song.
What is right? What is wrong? Where does the injustice begin or end? Who dropped the ball? Did anyone? How do we correct and adjust if there was a fumble? We don't know. We're just trying to figure it all out and I don't think anyone ever questioned Adam in any of it.

He still wants to do Glee, though! I saw that on twitter - can you tell in which interview he address that? Must have missed it. The Glee quote is in The Hollywood Reporter article. And the Queen rumor is addresssed in the Lyndsey Parker, Yahoo Music, video interview. It's actually not a rumor. Adam said he is doing things with Queen this year. |

Q3 did The Grateful Dead have many #1 hits on radio? Now they definitely had a following and great concert success.

You know, when Adam first talked about the album title, inviting fans to "trespass" into his life, I thought - "Adam! WTF, don't you think that already goes on enough?!?"
But the "I'm not welcome, but here I am anyway" explanation - that resonates more, for me.

Is there a good video of Leno that has been ripped so I can download it? Or do we have to watch it on other sites?
That was the night I went down a very different rabbit hole so I was not part of the whole hoopla and follow up and would love to have a video.

Thank you. A lot. I was very disheartened by the portions of keyboard's post that you pointed out, and even more disheartened by the wholehearted support they received from almost everyone who responded. I could say more, but you addressed everything in a more evenhanded, articulate manner than I could probably manage at the moment. Back to lurkdom for me. don't go back into lurkdom ..... Maybe it's a Women are from Venus/Men are from Mars thing, but I'm with Keyboard on this.
Someone used the phrase once "don't buy trouble." Doing a "whoa is me" isn't going to change what will happen, but we don't know what is going to happen so why worry about it in advance. If it did any good to worry or there was something we could do to alter the outcome I'd say, "Go for it."
But angsting for the sake of angsting doesn't sound like a good plan to me. Worrying never solved anything. There will be plenty of time to beat our chests if things don't go well, but somehow I have a good feeling about the big picture, you know, 2012, not just February and March.

Thank you Keyboard! What a breath of fresh air! I already thought I was going to get stuck in Buffalo for the rest of the night. Thanks for pointing to the road ahead. Count me in on that journey. It's a marathon and to respond to the recent post about wanting to know and understand every detail or decision. If a runner during the marathon runs back a few yards to grab a water bottle, I can try analyzing that move 10 different ways (why is he so tired, he needs water already, why not run forward to the next water service station, how much time did that backward move cost him, what did another runner do in comparison, why did he do it differently during the last marathon)....and on and on and on. Or I can loudly cheer him on from the sidelines without sorting through any of that detail. There are many things about the launch of BTIKM that I don't understand and clearly I am not alone. We will either find out, or it will never make any sense, but I will request it, until somebody gives me a new single to request. And I will put my energy where I want to put it and disengage from both efforts that are not targeted towards the goal or to me seem superfluous. And if somebody else makes different decisions about how they will do their support then that is cool too. I don't need to change that person or convince them, but personally I'll be happier doing the cheering part. That's all. Peace now.  |
