Great analogy to Jackie Robinson. I'm sure in his day the line was, "I'm not a racist, I just don't like the guy or how he plays baseball."
Sigh.
Think I'll go listen to "A Change in Going to Come" studio version for a while.
ETA: Can't remember which UK review of the album called him "A-Lam." Kinda like it!

Remember when Simon was patronizingly dismissive of Adam when he said he went on AI because he wanted to take songs and change them up and surprise people? Remember how he looked Simon right in they eye and asserted, "I can." And he did. He can again. And he will. I will be listening. And I won't be the least bit surprised when he surprises me. I didn't remember that from AI, and went to our (wonderful) AI thread and found it. It's so great, there should be a gif on it! That would be so fitting also for this era.

I'm trying to find out if the VEVO premiere on Monday is legit. There was a bogus press release going around on Twitter this a.m. It was the same one we saw in December that had Friday, Dec. 17 (was a Saturday) and that "Trespassing" was going to be released in January (don't we wish). Now either that rumor has taken on a life of its own or it's true and coming from a different source.
Monday seems a weird day to premiere a video. I still hope it's this Friday.
Huh, Claude just tweeted that Jessie J's "Domino" just moved into top 10. That song has been around for MONTHS, so there you go ... slow risers, indeed.
melliemom, love your Jackie Robinson analogy. I said the same thing repeatedly back on MJ's. Adam has so many parallels to Jackie and to be the one to break through, he has to be the most talented, courageous, articulate, gracious, socially intelligent, good looking, charming, complex, innovative (I could go on...) and it's amazing how much he has to bring to the table just to level the field. But if anyone is up for the task, it's him.

I know most of my posts lean to the deep end and I am often dropping off tidbits that are loosely topical. But whenever I discover something great I have a sincere desire to share it with all of you. You guys are kindred spirits, comrades, friends. These few years have been a journey of discovery for me. For someone who has always believed herself to be progressive and open minded, I have found that there is always room to learn and grow. I prefaced this "drop off link" because I really think it is worth a listen. It is more than an hour, so bookmark it if you can't listen now. If you have been on a similar journey, please listen. Marc Maron interviews the 47 year old comedian, Todd Glass, on his WTF podcast. Todd comes out as a gay man in this interview and touches on so many of the issues that we have been sorting through on ATOP, but from a perspective that was new and fresh to me. Honest, raw, and often funny. WOW -- he made me feel what "trespassing" feels like. Listen -- you won't regret it -- I don't do twitter, but someone should tweet it to Adam www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episodes/episode_245_-_todd_glassFYI: lots of use of the word FUCK and some adult themes (I don't think this will scare too many ATOPers away though ) How painful for Todd..worth the listen. Makes me appreciate Adam even more than I already do .His honesty ,courage and desire to live his life openly even in the public eye, is amazing.

There he is. There he is, everyone; just like you and me. No airbrush. Beautiful. Full of what I see in the mirror every day. Thank you Keyboard, thank you Twotrue. You ended the thread; and I hope your thoughts carry over. Adam is it. It. I don't come here to tell you about life; although you've helped me through my darkest days. I don't come here looking for friends; although I've found kindred spirits within these posts. I know Adam will be iconic. I know it! Not because I'm so cool or so smart or so old. I know it because it has happened - the reconfiguration of me, from his voice and sensual self. I think of me as an experiment in time. Adam has entered the microcosmic, ATP, cellular structure and integration/interpretation of action, experience, experimentation, interaction, explosion, osmosis, concentration of me. Me. Whenever we begin to angst I return to my beginning of this. ADAM. Why worry? We are not intrigued with the ordinary! We are not communed with a voice of reason! We are aligned with a force, a beauty so extraordinary I cannot describe! It's here. It really is.
