Coming out of newbie lurkdom...someone nice over at TWOP sent me over here to find refuge. I will never be the gifmaster you-all are, but wanted to say hello and chime in briefly on the discussion. I truly don't care that some people don't like Adam or his music. Fine. What's distressing to me on multiple levels is how vicious the hatred is. There are easily a dozen posters over on TWOP who live to say nasty things on his thread. That's all they do--they don't support anyone else, they just target Adam. They get banned, they get new IDs, they start again. WTH? So when Adam is singled out by these DJs in such a mean-spirited way, it seems like a similar level of special nasty. After all, if the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference, why go to the trouble of tweeting out these things? They like to blame the fans, but you can't tell me Archie's fans haven't been just as active in their support of him. So...yes, some of us worry. I'm with those who believe that Adam isn't going to be a Bieber (and thank the deities for that), and if he gets to have a longer career that's more of a niche, that's okay too. (I do like the Grateful Dead analogy.) But at the same time, being all-too human, I'd love to see the Nasties have to eat their words for a change. ETA: Thanks so much for that EMA link. That performance makes me sooooo happy. Welcome, noreaster! (I've misplaced my welcome sign, again.) TWoPI mostly know TWoP as the home of Jacob's Recaps and some other Adam archives that I dig around in. The site does have some very dedicated Adam fans. I'm sorry to hear that the Adam discussion thread is so unpleasant. I do hope you find ATop a more comfortable home.

1. it's based on real life living as opposed to all of a sudden being on TV and magazine

For Betty
2. in terms of essentialism, a relationship is a relationship, life trials and tribulations are life trials and tribulations. (in other words, everyone can relate and understand)

BTIKM enters the Top 40 on Hot AC -- that is news in my book. (and numbers) This is the week that really matters --- now if the time to request. Just cause it is so nice to see.... HAC Rolling 7-day chart lw TW Artist Title Label 45 38 ADAM LAMBERT Better Than I Know M... 19/RCA 2011 SPINs TW lw Move 223 164 59 Avg. Station Rotations On TW lw +/- 24 stations 8.6 6.3 +2.3 These are good numbers --- entered Top 40 and will be there for this weeks official chart (up from 42 last week) on 24 stations, and getting played an average of 8.6 times a day per station. That is OK for a song that has just been added by so many of these stations. So does this mean that now the song is doing good and might be a hit in the making? It is good news. It continues to gain. It is a long way from a hit -- and it is too early to tell what will happen with it. There should be a big push associated with the MV release this weekend and next week. (Assuming it is really getting released.) WWFM was a Top 10 hit and it took 6 weeks to enter the Billbaord chart and peaked 6 months after release. IIHY peaked on 10/2/12 album 6 months after release. BTIKM is very early in its life. Particularly looking at Adam's history. It it is like WWFM, it will peak in late May 2012. Top 40 on the Mediabase Hot AC chart and three hundred spins in a week is not a hit -- YET.

This fits perfectly with a lot of today's conversation, actually. If you look at this list, you might think that he just selected ridiculous (in his mind) album covers. Nope, this is for the most part about his discomfort with male sexuality or the display of something that could be construed as gay....look at it, only very few exceptions and those have other sexual reasons to be weird. Yes, the battle for Adam is so much harder than people think and to be honest, I have learned a lot the last 3 years about... - how far backwards the music business is (compared to other entertainment industry), - how terribly homophobic / juvenile radio is, - how many things I as a straight person can learn to better have my ducks in a row when it comes to conversations or - how to be just more sensitive to recognizing things a bit earlier. I don't think that if a person is on a hate rant that you will be able to change that person. Sometimes just saying nothing and just raise your eye brows or perhaps saying, it is clear we agree to disagree and I am saddened to see humans hate, is all that can be done. Yes, it is tough and I have been in situation where I was successful to standing up to prejudice and I have been in situation where either I was too weak to speak up or where I was up against the group and was totally shut down by a crowd. Both situations make you walk away like a dog with its tail between its legs, but the reality is, you can only fight it a day at a time and as best you can and perhaps some of the silent folks who say nothing may at least see your point. You never know.

HI! Does anyone here know how music for professional sporting events is selected? I am talking about the music that is played during timeouts during the game, etc. I have attended several AZ Cardinal football games in the last few years and at every game I have heard WWFM. At the last game they played that AND a rather extended snippet of IIHY. I was surprised to hear IIHY so loud and clear that I had to jump up and dance in the aisle. Two AFL songs at a flippin football game in AZ. perplexing but cool. My friend wondered if the NFL has power over the music or if it is local thing. Has anyone else been to NFL games and heard these songs? thanks Hey, it is my understanding (just from reading, I am only a fan not an expert) that an artist's management company is responsible for getting the artist's music placed in movie, TV, and commercial projects. This would include the NFL. So probably 19E arranged these deals; now they would be up to DMG. Incidentally, that is why you often hear music by indy artists on TV and in the movies, such as over the closing scenes of TV shows, even though you never hear them on the radio. The whole process of arranging the play of the music is different.
