They are restricting resales to only face value so scalpers won't be able to profit. When Tickmaster does the flex pricing that increase benefits the artists unlike the resale price hikes. They stated they are trying this method because by contracting for the tickets to ONLY be resold through the face value thing that should prevent scalpers from buying tickets. To me that is why no presales. Fan club presales weren't guaranteed any better pool of tickets then all the gazillion credit card presales so I think this is actually worth a try. I think the fan club presales made a big difference, I believe that fans who pay monthly for the fan club should have the chance for first pick of seats. It also meant less people clogging up ticketmaster at the general sale. I fear many instances of tickets in cart that disappear. I, too, am annoyed and disappointed that we will be forced to jump through hoops to purchase tickets. I live in one of the states not covered by this face value policy, if it even makes a difference. I am presuming the fan club you are talking about is Adam's since this is an Adam fansite. While it would be nice for Queen to offer a pre-sale to members, it is Queen's team running the show, not Adam's. Adam's team probably doesn't have much, if anything to say about it.

They did mention that a couple of states have laws preventing them from limiting the resale to face value. How can they claim that resale limitation other than through Ticketmaster itself? Scalpers will just go to Stubhub or elsewhere and scalp away. It has never been "legal" to scalp and I don't see how avoiding a presale will change that! They could put a couple of sections available only to those with a code...whether Queen/ Adam or Amex....and that does not have to relate to resell restrictions and tickets could still all go on sale at the same time. I am surprised that ALFC just upping the price of membership would then ignore the main reason for fans to purchase said memberships!! When I go into my account on Ticketmaster, it shows March 31 as the date. Maybe just a momentary glitch in the system when you looked.

In the states where allowed they stipulate that the tickets are not valid on resale except thru the Ticketmaster's Face Value resale. Ticketmaster can void the tickets if resold. I don't know all the ins and outs of how it works but it is possible to do. And in many states it is "legal" to scalp which is basically reselling for higher than face value.

Here are some sections of an article about the ticket fiasco that Taylor Swift had:
"BBC News Ticketmaster has apologised to Taylor Swift and her fans during a US Senate hearing, months after its system was overwhelmed by demand for her Eras Tour. Thousands of 'Swifties' were unable to buy seats due to the issue.
"We need to do better and we will," Joe Berchtold, president of Live Nation, Ticketmaster's parent company, told lawmakers on Tuesday. A bot attack was responsible for "a terrible consumer experience", he said.
Ticketmaster, which merged with Live Nation in 2010, has repeatedly faced criticism from fans and politicians, who say it has too much control over the live music market and artificially inflates the cost of tickets with fees and service charges.
According to Senator Amy Klobuchar, who chairs the US Senate committee on consumer rights, Ticketmaster is responsible for 70% of ticket sales in the US. "In truth, there is no other choice. It is a monopoly," she told MSNBC last year. Regarding the Swift tour, she added: "The high fees, site disruptions and cancellations that customers experienced shows how Ticketmaster's dominant market position means the company does not face any pressure to continually innovate and improve." Senator Amy Klobuchar has criticised Ticketmaster's dominance of the US live music market
Swift herself said it was "excruciating" to watch fans struggling to get tickets, and that she had been assured Ticketmaster could handle the demand. In its written testimony ahead of its Tuesday grilling by US senators, the company explained for the first time how its systems had been targeted by software "bots" used to illegally obtain tickets.
The attacks came despite the use of Ticketmaster's "verified fan" scheme, which requires customers to pre-register their interest, allowing the company to check whether they are genuine fans intending to see the show. "We knew bots would attack... and planned accordingly," wrote Mr Berchtold.
"We were then hit with three times the amount of bot traffic than we had ever experienced, and for the first time in 400 Verified Fan onsales they came after our Verified Fan access code servers. "While the bots failed to penetrate our systems or acquire any tickets, the attack required us to slow down and even pause our sales. This is what led to a terrible consumer experience that we deeply regret."
Mr Berchtold also acknowledged that the company should have staggered the sales "over a longer period of time" to stop its systems being overloaded, and that it should have done "a better job setting fan expectations for getting tickets"." ----------- That staggering of "sales over a longer period of time" sounds like a good idea to me. Why isn't it part of the plan for QAL?
peace&love & wishes for successful ticket buying
