I wrote this in answer to momtomany asking me about QAL vs. Pink at the Chase Center in San Francisco, but it appears relevant to the discussion here today:
I think it's really difficult to know how this will go. Pink priced her tickets fairly high, but QAL could be close or just as high (I think we will know more by checking the earlier venues that morning at 7 and 8 am). QAL have a lot less total concerts than Pink so I think demand could be higher, but I'm not sure. Pink is doing a stadium tour before she begins her Arena tour - so she's got lots of options for fans.
Pink added a 2nd show in SF so that has made more tickets available also. I just pulled up her Saturday night (the first show announced) - if you exclude platinum and resale tickets, nothing is left except behind the stage. There are lots of platinum (damn Ticketmaster greediness) and lots of resales (which QAL is trying to avoid). I pulled up Sunday night (the show she added which is when I'm going) and there are still a lot of VIP tickets on the floor near the thrust, but they cost $819 plus fees, which is impossible for most people. I would probably spend that for QAL, and I'm sure Pink sold plenty of those to her mega fans - it's the ones about 7 seats away from the runway that are still available for Sunday, but none of those available for Saturday..
Since her tour allows transfers and resales, probably a lot of scalping going on - and I see there are a lot of resales. I have bought and transferred 6 tickets for Pink to friends.
I am quite curious to see if this "no transfer" thing actually stops the scalpers. I do also wonder if Ticketmaster is in cahoots with other sellers (like Stubhub and Vivid) and still gives them a portion of tickets to inflate - just don't trust those Ticketmaster f***ers.....
I see that at least one venue has stated that tickets won't appear in your phone until 72 hours before the show - this seems another way to limit transfers (you can't have someone log into your account and move a ticket into their wallet until 72 hours before) - wonder if all venues will do this.
It will be very interesting to see what happens Friday, I just hope I get the tickets I want for me and my friends.
