How can he be tweeting?! He's supposed to be flying to Germany or Austria! Maybe he didn't go non-stop?

OK so I think you can check if you got charged in itunes this way (I got charged for the gift I sent to craazy, so sending to someone else who already has the song works).
Those who gifted the song to THEMSELVES through their fan email account check here:
a) go to the itunes store, in the top black bar at the far right you will see your email address linked to itunes. Hit on the down arrow there and click on "account" you will need to login to itunes again.
b) At the login prompt that pops up, hit the "view account" button.
c) click "See all" next to purchase history
you should then see the dates and costs of any purchases charged.
If somebody gifts you something the total cost will be "0". If you gift somebody, and they download, you should see an amount.
What happens if you gifted to yourself? Do you see a "0" or "$1.29"
ETA: duly noted from Q3's billboard article that you don't want to do this too many times.

rabbitrabbit, yes, it charged me for the 2 I sent to alternative e-mails! I also bought it again for myself, after reading Q3's post, and it charged me for that one too.

What better way than saying Happy Birthday then buying Adam's BTIKM.... On Twitter all his other fans will see it too. I love it. He's so proud of his new music.. Let's show him some special LOVE,on his special birthday. Amazon has no limit as far as I know You can buy as many copies of BTIKM from any retailer but the limit is what will be counted by Soundscan as a retail sale. You can certainly buy 2 or 3 copies from retailer but more than that from any retailer could be classified as a non-normal sale and not counted toward the chart. Adam and Claude Kelly and Dr. Luke and RCA and 19R would all still get their share of every sale. And every sale would move the song up the iTunes chart. So the question is what is the point. If all you want to do is move it up the iTunes chart, the Soundscan/Billboard rules do not matter. ETA: Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY!!!!

Yep, I was charged for the gift to my other email account and then it said another gift to me was free. I had to redo my password and might have done it twice...but I WAS charge for the original gift. Am I wrong in thinking Amazon has some cut off number per day of 10 purchases for it to count towards soundscan? I remember hearing that but can't remember it being verified.

Four Birthday questions:1) Are we all using a specific mint chocolate avi - or ANY OLE cake avi? If specific, where can we find it? 2) Do we have to coordinate the gifting to Atop members in the members thread? How we gonna do this? I'm up for it. 3) Or are we just going to buy at Amazon? Multiple sales count, right? 4) iTunes - If I already bought BTIKM and someone gifts to me does it still count even though I'm dl'ing the same song? Hoping for some answers! I have been to Salzburg twice within the last 3 years and have NOT flown into or out of that airport. It was always Munich. Zurich is the other possibility. 2.) If you want to gift BTIKM, we should use the Members Only Section. I will set up a thread later tonight. 3.) There is no difference in multiple purchases counting between iTunes and Amazon. If you are going to buy several copies (more than 5 gifts), best bet is to do 3 on iTunes and 3 on Amazon, and if needed open up a new account for more purchases. 4.) iTunes counts all purchases for their chart. Soundscan counts all normal sales - and that is probably up to 7 units per account. For some reason someone decided that one person might have 7 devices they want to buy for or that 1 + 6 gifts is normal buying.

I've put answers in green inside, to make it easier to read: Ok...I'm trying to get some things clear in my little brain. Adam is in Europe right now and he's performing in Austria tomorrow? ==> yes, and they are 6 hours ahead of EST, 9 hours ahead of PSTWe don't know who in the band came with him? We need to start tweeting our @adamlambert birthday wishes tomorrow after 5:00pm Eastern time or do we wait until 12:01am on the 29th? ==> you need to be after 6 pm EST to reach Adam on the 29th (his local time). But 6 pm on our Saturday is midnight his time, so what's the point? Wait a few hours more and send it to him during this day time (also helps avoiding that twitter strike, just in case that thing is for realz). As long as you tweet before 6 pm EST on Sunday, you have still reached him on his B'day.Did we decide if we're adding to the tweet #BuyBTIKM or not? ==> Not to the B'day tweet you are sending to Adam, nope, that would not be good. But in a mention tweet it is fine.
But a second thing that is being discussed here in parallel is that as a gift we would like to drive up the charts that day and the plan is to tweet reminders about this to our followers throughout the day and on those tweets (which would NOT contain the @adamlambert) you could write #BuyBTIKM. Perhaps a trend starts happening. You can also just retweet what others are writing.Any information on any of the above questions would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helps
