I'm getting my avi set up now as I use twitter so rarely that it won't go public till Sunday . For international peeps (well, moi in the UK) should we buy at Amazon.com for it to count to the numbers we want to see, or is there another route (don't much like iTunes; can't say why, bit arbitrary really :-/). ETA: just checking; noon PT is 8pm GMT ? Do we expect a Twitter failure at that time do you think a) If you buy from Amazon.com your sale will count in the corresponding country, it will not automatically count in the US. But that is good, because if this is done all across the fandom and not only on Adamtopia there should be a visible bump in rankings all over the place. In the end, a sale is a sale is a sale. I have tried multiple times to get clarification from Amazon whether their country allocation (for soundscan or corresponding counts) is done based on shipping address or based on billing address, but never got an answer. So, if I here in the US sign onto my amazon.de account (amazon does order fulfillment out of many locations in Europe), then the amount is payed through my German bank account (billing address is Germany), but if I then enter as shipping address my cousin in Switzerland, then I cannot tell you whether Germany or Switzerland will be used, but I can assure you that it will not be added to the US numbers. b) My suggestions would be that once NZ starts their Sunday all the way till US ends their Sunday we have an almost 2 day window to make our mark on both twitter as well as i-tunes, amazon, etc. and pretty much everyone will have at least somewhere a window of time to get involved. The more critical part is to get other sites on board and that those with the furthest-reaching twitter-drums are involved. That would be at least my suggestion. A US digital sale must be purchased from a reporting US retailer and must be shipped US account. A US physical sale must be purchased in a reporting US retailer's store location OR purchased from a US direct retailer and shipped to a US address. Canada has similar rules but Nielsen uses only a sample of retail locations there. If you want to purchase BTIKM for Adam's birthday, it is a great idea but do not do it to move the charts. I have watched fans (including Adam fans) try to do buying campaigns to move the charts and it really does not work. If you want to gift BTIKM to someone for Adam's birthday to spread the music to new people and to promote Adam, it is a great idea. JMHO but I would focus the effort on 1/29/12 and send birthday requests to radio stations. Airplay this weekend will help Adam more than sales. And many stations have request shows, or take request dedications. It could be twitter requests, phone requests, Mediabase forms with comments, etc. And with a proper hashtag it might get noticed.

Instead of #Happy30Adam, wouldn't #Happy30thAdam make more sense? We're trying to wish him a happy 30th birthday so I think the "th" should be there.

And could it be on the front page so everyone could find it? pretty please? and Thanks! I saved them and here they are! (I don't know if the size is right for Twitter-avi perhaps you have to minimize them!?!?!)

I think buying BTIKM for Adam's BD is a great idea. To keep things easy, just buy it on the 29th, where ever you are. As far as the tweet thing, that's a great idea too. I get so confused with the hashtag thing. Do you guys remember when Adam had the twitter party on Neil's birthday? The words "Does Neil" (without the quotes) started to trend because so many people started asking questions starting with -- Does Neil -- in a very short span of time. So, I'm not sure if the hashtag is important. What may be important is that we all try to do send birthday wishes at about the same time. Does this sound right? I think we should all include this idea of Buy BTIKM 4 BB's BD. We want to use the power of twitter to drive those sales up. If we can raise a fortune for a charity, why can't we drive the single up the charts? Just 10% of twitter followers would do it. Then it will snowball because it will get played, others will buy etc. Think the best B-day we can give Adam is a hit single right away off his first album. We could even do this now - just the campaign to buy the single and then when it is a big success, tweet our birthday wishes I will be the gray cloud on this one -- there have been literally dozens of campaigns by Idol fan groups (including Adam fans) to do things like this, it does not work. Secondly, the 1.3 million Twitter follows that Adam has does not mean there are 1.3 million people following Adam or even 1 million people following Adam. The number includes bots, abandoned accounts, duplicate accounts that one person has that all follow Adam. etc. Usually, the real people number is 50% of the follows. Many of Adam's follows are from outside the US -- many follows are not fans -- many follows are casual fans --- etc. -- when you get done with it, there are probably only 100,000 US fans who follow Adam on Twitter. So if 25% of them are hanging out on Twitter over the weekend and 10% decide to buy that is 100,000 times 25% times 10% = 2,500 units which will not move the needle. I do not think a 10% participation rate is possible so that number is generous. I think buying the track is a great idea, but do not expect to have a dramatic impact on sales or any chart. And I would be thrilled if someone could point me to one of these Idol fangroup campaigns that actually worked. Then I will get behind this 1100%.
