It is so painful to watch what is going on with LGBTQ rights. When there was the fight over same sex marriage, most could see how wrong it was to deny the community the same rights that the majority enjoyed. So many could come together to fight for those rights and a common cause. But now the LGBTQ community is being hit on so many fronts at the same time. There is support but the level of support on all and every front is not consistent or as strong. Resistance to book bans (and trying to erase the history or any mention of the LGBTQ community and Black community in schools) and support for minority and gay kids I think is more widespread. But the community is being hit in so many different ways. Pronouns. Trans bathroom use. Trans women competing with biological women in sports. Drag Queens performing. Drag Queens reading to kids. Gender affirming care for minors. It feels as if they are winning because there is support for the LGBTQ community but not widespread support, agreement or outrage for all causes. It make it harder to mobilize. It is pretty scary the way they are enacting one bigoted law after another.

I don't think it was rehearsed either. I think sure the show tries to stay in a lane and make sure what pops up fits their guests - guests may even submit answers to a questionnaire. But you can you can see the point after he sings muffin man muffin man just with the accent that he sees a light bulb as he's trying to figure out the words to use - oh this fits "do you know..... & do you believe". I don't think he's could have acted all that if he had "known" what he was going to do.

My state's a big leader in this - if they can't copy what another state has done they'll come up with a new thing on their own. This year they had the help of a new "family policy center" - ie one guy being paid to come up with ways to eliminate the queers.
