True Adam has been writing his musical for several years and before Jennifer Hudson won her Tony for being one of the producers of a Broadway Musical. But even tho many pop and rock artists have written musicals, I think once Jennifer won a EGOT, you were going to see other pop divas try their hands at it. There will probably be others so I hope Adam gets his out before it becomes an everyone is doing it type of thing and the big support and recognition goes with who you are. HA. -- she didn't write, or perform or have creative input into the show. She was one of MANY producers -- she invested money. I think that we are starting to see more EGOTs from producing credits than in the past. and I expect that trend to continue. But i don't think that is a motivator for the very long, twisted road of writing a musical and getting it to Broadway. Pop stars have been writing musicals for years and years and years (Sarah Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, U2, Green Day, David Byrne, Billy Joel, Elton John, the keyboardist from Bon Jovi, Duncan Sheik, Boy George, Sting to name a few) -- even if there is a new group of pop stars doing it, it is nothing new under the sun Agree! Just hoping Adam will not get caught up in many doing it and trying to get attention at the same time instead of artists getting support of their musical projects over a span of many years. Timing and who is putting out the project could be more or just as important as how good it is. |
