OOL: Exquisite. More beautiful than the premiere, and I didn't think that possible. Kevin has changed up the harmonies and chords, making the song sound like less of a minor key. Again, Adam and the band start softly, build the arc of the song, then bring us back to earth. There were places in the song where I just had to close my eyes and let the voice envelop me. Is there an mp3 download yet????? THANK YOU!!! |

Really? I thought Adam's vocal was exquisitely beautiful on OOL! I loved the shades of emotion he infused into the song. The first 3 notes of BTIKM were a little tentative, but after that it was great!

BTIKM: Again, a very different arrangement, but, I liked it! It starts so quiet and intimate thru the first verse and chorus. The second verse comes in a bit stronger with the guitar adding more depth to the backing. The chorus he sings in full voice. Then, the bridge strips it all back down again, with the second half almost acappella. The chorus comes back with power, and then, in the repeat, he wails it. And adds a tender tag to the end. Adam always has a way of building an arc into a song from beginning to end which is very satisfying. Like telling a story from beginning to end. Intro, build, climax, back down, build again, ultimate climax, then the sigh or wrap at the end. Very artistic. I had a question for you about BITKM. Did he change the key? It felt very different to me, and at times off. Especially the chorus just before the bridge. I figured this was the only place where I could hear him not being in top form vocally, but I am wondering if it is just that he changed it around so much. |
