Translated from Spanish Chronicles of a dream come true: The phenomenon of Adam Lambert and Queen Chronicles of a dream come true: The phenomenon of Adam Lambert and Queen An immense challenge that over the years has earned his respect. We make a historical review from the arrival of the vocalist who accompanies Queen to the presentWe can be many and many Queen fans who consider Freddie Mercury as the best vocalist that has ever existed in the history of music. However, many years after the tragic death of the singer, a new character appeared on the scene, who does not intend to replace Mercury, but does contribute his remarkable skills to the band, which currently consists of only two original members: Brian May and Roger Taylor. Young, talented and with his own style: we are talking about Adam Lambert.
A little history
Adam Mitchel Lambert was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1982, and began his career as an artist at just ten years old, at which age he participated in various musicals, showing an innate and promising talent. However, Lambert became really well known due to his time on the American Idol talent show, in which he came second. Such a result did not dissuade him from continuing in music; to the contrary, his performances throughout the show allowed him to network with more than one well-known band. One of them was Kiss, with whom he performed on the show itself, but surely his most praised performance was the one he did together with the members of Queen.
Although his participation in the band has been truly commendable, the singer's work does not stop there. What's more, he owns four studio albums: For Your Entertainment (2009); Trespassing (2012); The Original High (2015) and Velvet (2020) , as well as three compilation albums. With his second album, Trespassing, Adam reached the top of the Billboard 200, and in 2014, he participated in the acclaimed series Glee.
The musical inspiration that led Adam Lambert to want to walk the path of music was born from different genres. On the one hand, there were the classics like Bowie, Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin, but current pop icons like Britney Spears and Madonna were also relevant. And, as expected, the incomparable Freddie Mercury.
American Idol
For the show's eighth season, Lambert auditioned, performing Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Zeppelin, Aerosmith's "Cryin" to U2's "One.
Already at the end of the season he met with Kiss, singing Beth", "Detroit Rock City" and "Rock N' Roll All Night", but it was his performance with Queen that would be decisive for the future of the singer and the band. .
www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBMGTmd6_pE&t=2s His story with QueenAfter the joint performance of the band and Adam Lambert, the two remaining original members were delighted with the near-winner of the show. It was Brian May who assured that they did not look for someone like Lambert, but that he simply "appeared". "That's the miracle," he added. Since then Adam has collaborated permanently with the band, interpreting their songs, however, his musical career as a soloist develops in parallel, which is "a fantastic and beneficial union for all". In terms of performance, Lambert's voice has a spectacular range and rare intensity, which has allowed him to interpret songs that - let's face it - no one but Freddie Mercury has been able to. Brian May refers to Lambert's voice with the following words: "(it has) sensitivity, depth, maturity, and the impressive range and power that will make jaws drop." Roger Taylor praises it, too. And it is that his record amazes us all. some important dates
2011: Brian May and Roger Taylor invited Adam Lambert to close the MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony. 2013 – The band headlined Las Vegas as Queen + Adam Lambert to rave reviews. 2014: Queen + Adam Lambert toured the United States, which extended to other continents such as Asia and Oceania. December 31, 2014: presentation at Westaminster Hall, in London The singer receives more than positive reviews, thus consolidating himself as the new Queen vocalist accepted by the public. criticsLambert has referred to the first concert in which he participated with Queen, noting that he felt nervous and afraid of not being able to put on a perfect show, as well as fear due to the uncertainty of how he would be received by the public. Somehow, too, his insecurity was based on the fact that the presentation did not cover his own songs, but songs belonging to the group. Although his reviews have been excellent and, we dare say, that he has earned the approval and affection of the public , he has received bad reviews, before which the singer has spoken out against the comparison that has been made between he and Freddie Mercury, emphasizing that he does not claim to be or replace his predecessor, because "there is only one rock god called Freddie Mercury." I pass through ChileIn 2015 Queen toured Latin America , called Don't Stop Them Now. On September 30 it was Chile's turn to witness the band's show. Many of us did not know Adam Lambert, nor had we heard of him, however, the vocalist's performance was acclaimed by the public. It was songs like Somebody to Love, We are the Champions and of course Bohemian Rhapsody that totally captivated us. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLuRwpJUwKI&t=2sThe concert featured extravagant settings such as the purple divan on which Lambert notably performed the Killer Queen theme , and costumes that established Lambert as a somewhat outlandish artist but worthy of continuing the original style of Freddie Mercury. Another surprise we got was Brian May performing Love of my Life, which moved us to tears. The show was held on the Athletic Track of the National Stadium, and was attended by more than 20,000 fans of all ages. What is happening today?Despite the fact that Adam Lambert's career as a soloist continues to develop, the official Queen page has revealed that in October this year the North American tour called The Rhapsody Tour 2023 by Queen + Adam Lambert will begin. They will be concerts in which they will play classics by the band, such as Another One Bites The Dust and Somebody to Love . Like the other tours, the lineup will consist primarily of Adam Lambert, Roger Taylor, Brian May and other supporting musicians. For now, the Chilean fans of the group will have to wait for a new tour that reaches South America. Let's hope it's not too long!

Let us just hope that all that fiddling with his in ears the last few performances do not indicate he has stopped his anxiety meds so he could lose the weight so many have been critical of. I have commented on that ear fiddling a couple of times over the years. Super distracting, and something I keep hoping will lessen. I personally have never seen an artist/ singer who does it as often or ever, when they are performing, and many use backing tracks for performances or concerts (Def more economical than hiring singers….lol! ) ie. I do not remember being distracted by another performer at Wembley touching their ears etc. although I did skip almost all performers before Adam. I have wondered …how much is “habit”, as I have seen him not touching his ear area on songs. I use the analogy of dancers, actors or athletes …not touching their hair unless part of the choreography or script. I know what you are saying but if you listen to that whole interview, he talks about his projecting his anxiety onto his sound equip, particularly the ears. He is very specific about that…i would not have thought it if he had not been so clear about it. He was very open and brave in that interview…i have mad respect for his honesty and courage. I could never be that vulnerable…
