I was happy to see Oliver's thankyou comments about his birthday greetings. It really shows the qualities that Adam admires in a person and is attracted to. Oliver is smart and fun, and he also is close to his family and friends in Denmark. That says a lot about a person. We have always said that everyone who meets Adam seems to like him. A lot. It appears that the same is true of Oliver. And he handles himself with humility and graciousness, and yes, gratitude.
Going on a ten-day trip tomorrow. Bringing my laptop. Hope to keep up here.

Nothing new (re radio and pop music) apple.news/A_htBpNUJSAORGQCTDF8iAwTaylor Swift rules the airwaves! But that’s bad news for music …… Swift is an extremely gifted musician and performer. Her success is well deserved. Nevertheless, her dominance of the airwaves has a negative side. The ubiquitous nature of Swift – the fact that you are almost guaranteed to hear her if you switch on the radio or meander down a high street – doesn’t just speak to her talents, but also to the homogenisation of pop music. It’s not just your imagination: a growing body of research shows that all modern pop music sounds the same. In 2012, for example, the Spanish National Research Council published an analysis of nearly half a million songs released between 1955 and 2010, which showed that the “diversity of … note combinations … has consistently diminished in the last 50 years”. And pop music isn’t just becoming more similar; taste-makers are also focusing on a smaller subset of songs. “Radio stations … are pushing the boundaries of repetitiveness to new levels,” noted a 2014 article in the Atlantic. “Top 40 stations last year played the 10 biggest songs almost twice as much as they did a decade ago.” An increasingly data-driven music industry means there is a growing focus on replicating hits and far less space for nurturing originality. Technology may have given us multiple new ways to listen to music, but increasingly we are hearing the same old tune.

This had nothing to do with any of the thread, but Adam related in that he is Queen's singer. Dolly Parton is singing Champions to promote the upcoming Paris Olympics. I have seen it several times. Not really a country fan, but I do admire Dolly Parton and do enjoy some of her songs. However, I am not happy about her singing Champions. I just feel if they are going to use that song for promo, it should be Queen or a solo performer, Adam. Maybe I am just protective, but it bothers me. If it is Dolly they wanted, then use one of her songs. Just venting

I think we've been complaining about the same 5 songs on the radio ever since Adam came on the scene lol. Nice to be validated. Personally, I haven't listened to the radio for about 30 years...can't say I miss it either.

If it is Dolly they wanted, then use one of her songs. Just venting It is her song now but I understand your venting. As soon as I heard that Dolly was releasing a rock album, I thought she will win every rock Grammy and award under the sun. My bet is she will also win for the Queen songs. It will not matter that Queen have never won one, but QAL did not even submit their Live Around the World album for consideration nor TSMGO from the album so go figure. I won't be surprised if she shows up singing somewhere with Brian and Roger, lol. She has won so many Grammy's in country but also in pop and Christian so why not rock? It feels as tho Adam is the only one on the planet who is restricted to dead end pop where he has no chance against Billie, Taylor, Adele, Harry and the special ones who are actually on the radio, lol. I was hoping he would get a chance in rock with the QAL live album but so such luck. Carrie Underwood has been trying to push herself as a rock chick and she is going on tour with Guns N Roses so if she wants to release a rock album she will do great as well. The competition in rock is not as great and it seems many who are less rock than Adam are taking advantage of that and giving it a try.
Dolly Parton and NBCUniversal Team To Promote 2024 Paris Olympics With Queen ClassicsNext year at this time, the 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris. NBCUniversal has the coverage rights, and it’s revving up awareness in a collaboration with global icon Dolly Parton’s new video. “We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You” is a cover of the famous rock anthems by Queen that’s featured on Parton’s upcoming album, Rockstar. The recording was inspired by Parton’s 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The album is set for global release on Nov. 17. Various lengths of the video are debuting today across NBCUniversal’s array of platforms. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/dolly-parton-and-nbcuniversal-team-to-promote-2024-paris-olympics-with-queen-classics/ar-AA1eptEw
