BertiebottsNova played BTIKM 10 minutes ago I opened my radio around 1pm today, and in the little over 6 hours they've played WWFM, FYE and BTIKM. I might have missed IIHY or no doubt it is coming some time today too LOL. - my first reaction! I've been listening to Radio Nova non-stop for almost a week now!! I've been requesting BTIKM every morning (very politely). And now when they finally played it - I had my radio turned off and was watching some lame-ass "uusintoja" (dunno the english word for this) of American Idol!! Nooooo.... *deep breath* okay. Second reaction (little bit less unselfish) YAY!!! Awesome! ;D Finally - after all the waiting... So WWFM, FYE AND BTIKM on the same day? That's pretty good. Better turn on Radio X3M, they play BTIKM every day!

I think some intern messed this up! The last we heard, FYE had sold arounf 1.3 million worldwide. Why would FYE have 600,000 copies floating around (wholesale shipments) outside of the US? I know that record labels like to stretch things, but adding 700K to FYE, was just too obvious! Well you are correct -- the labels like to put a positive spin on things! So almost 2 million could actually be 1.65 million. I do not know if it was an error or not, but I doubt it. Joking aside, interns to not write press releases at RCA and the labels are careful about any statement that involves numbers. My guess is that they have numbers that support the almost 2 million worldwide number. BUT most countries do not have accurate sales tracking. The 1.3 million numbers from 2011 was an estimate and this number is an estimate -- not actual. The UK and US have somewhat accurate sales tracking. Japan, France, Germany, Canada are all estimates. Most of the worldwide sales numbers we have for artists are overblown -- the most famous example is the Michael Jackson numbers. Check out this article: online.wsj.com/article/SB124760651612341407.htmlSetting that aside -- if we accept the over 1.3 million in January 2011 in the RCA press release. Does almost 2 million make sense now? It is possible. It is probably an estimate of 1.7 million. And based on my best estimate, US shipments are over 900K now, about 50% of Adam's FYE sales. >> Before the 900K number is questioned, here is the answer. It is an estimate but highly likely in that ballpark. << The labels use shipments/wholesale sales NOT retail sales, which must be well over 900K in the US now. - Soundscan retail sales only represents about 90% to 95% of sales. 833K retail sales would be 833K + apx. 50K in sales that did not qualify = 883K. (I took a conservative number for the estimate.) - Shipments includes inventory sold to retailers that is still in stores and retailers'/distributors' warehouses and expected NOT to be returned. With FYE in stock in around 10,000 US retailer locations and 3 units per door = 30,000 wholesale sales that have not been sold to consumer yet. That means US Shipments are over 900K (833K + 50K + 30K = 913K). NOTE: The Wikipedia page for FYE lists it as RIAA Certified Platinum in the US. It is not. I am sure someone will correct it but it won't be me. I am interested in seeing how long it lasts. That's good to know. Something that crossed my mind as I was reading your post in the Chinese market as an unknown variable. As we know, from the network we had during the Shanghai concert, there are definitely fans in China, but because of the language issue, they are kind of their own microcosm. And we also know that pirating in China is a major issue, but I read a post or article a few years ago that said when a "genuine" CD is owned, it's considered to be a status symbol and very prized. My thoughts are they would only likely do this for the artists they treasure most. I was just curious about how that market is even tracked, calculated, etc. Q3 comment: See answer on page 11 or so.

I have a berting hangover, and I'm not even kidding about that! The lack of sleep and reading so much and irregular eating patterns the past couple of days has me feeling like I have a hangover! So, if I don't get what you are saying at first, please be patient with me! Here is where I have the biggest problem with the 2 million figure. (that I WANT TO BE ACCURATE) The 1.3 million makes sense because we had seen "over 1.2 million" from RCAEd, who was getting actual numbers from the label at the time. Since January 2011, FYE and all of Adam's singles have been off the current charts worldwide. He wasn't touring or promoting new singles in the last year. Now, I know WWFM has done well on the recurrent charts and there was the GNT and acoustic CD, but we would have seen FYE jump back onto the charts if it was selling any type of significant numbers anywhere in the world. If we can add around 10% to the retail sales for the US, why wouldn't we do the same for sales outside the US? Worldwide sales: 670K + 67K= 737K The press release is adding 350K sales from somewhere. ??? (and we already added 8-10 percent on top of the retail sales) That seems like an awfully high percentage to just add on without something to back up that number.

Agreed. That was my first thought too that he was very subtly making a point about some of the "quotes" used. I really thought that Adam was implying that the news media shirks it's duty to check out the facts before they report something.Just look what happened with the Finland incident , Again the media rushed to judgement . They really do shirk their duty to print the truth and only the truth. Melliemom This is exactly how I took this tweet. The reporters shirked their duty of actually checking the facts!! Sorry I guess we are over this but JMHO.

www.411mania.com/music/news/222844Adam Lambert Plays Intimate Gig in London Posted by George H. Sirois on 02.04.2012 Previewing some tracks from his new album... Adam Lambert performed a five-song gig at London's Dover Street Arts Club, previewing tracks from his forthcoming album Trespassing. Lambert introduced the track "Outlaws of Love" by dedicating it to the LGBT community: "I wrote this song about the many challenges the gay community faces and how hopeless it sometimes makes me feel." more...

Here is an indirect way to help Adam. It has been very difficult for mainstream brands to use Gay spokesmodels because the US Christian Right (usually led by the AFA) starts boycotts of any company who "promotes gay lifestyles". J C Penny selected Ellen to be their new spokesmodel. The AFA (American Family Association) has announced a boycott of Penny unless they back down. J C Penny has not backed down. If the J C Penney support Ellen as a spokesperson results in an sales increase (meaning that people fight against this loud, unrepresentative minority of haters), it will make it easier for Adam to get bigger sponsorships. What Adam did on radio -- prove that it is OK to play a gay artist on US radio and the audience will not flee. Ellen is doing in a mainstream category. Note: There are some successful LGBT spokesmodels in the US -- but they are in the "gay ghetto" of fashion and style. Not the big consumer products or service sector brands. So the punchline -- if you need a plaid shirts ( ) or something else that J C Penny sells -- buy it there and tell Penny that you support Ellen.....more info from Time.com: newsfeed.time.com/2012/02/03/ellen-degeneres-fans-fight-anti-gay-group-over-jcpenney-gig/ >>> END OF MY J C Penny COMMERCIAL <<< >>> BACK TO READING ALL THE GREAT ADAM NEWS <<< I love this idea from Q3 - and may I offer a connected idea. I have mentioned my volunteer work with 1n10 - and there are so many of Adam's fans on board supporting the 1n10 youth. And Adam follows 1n10. 1n10 sponsors one of a handful of GLBTQ youth camps that exist in the world each summer. The stories from this camp would move all of us to tears. And the youth are from all over the US, and also some globally (mostly Canada and Mexico as I recall from last year). And this is the most diverse group of kids, culturally - many of whom are homeless or without a real support system. I could ask Kado at 1n10 the kinds of camp related wear that might be needed. I think J.C. Penney would have bargins on that type of clothing all the time. Even the basics - these kids have very little. If anyone is interested please DM me. May I also say, the hardest thing for me to do is "ask others" to help. I have always been a person who makes things happen but in a quiet way where people typically have asked me later "How did I end up being committed to this?" So please know that I hate being so open about asking for support - I just keep the thought in front of me that all these little gestures made by the Adam fans are saving lives - or if not lives, the gestures are helping grow confidence and a sense that the community cares in some pretty special youth (who love Adam - after all, they each have his CDs :-) _ If anyone is interested, let me know and we can coordinate with Kado. And then do everything else that Q3 said to do about communicating the "why" to J.C. Penneys. Thank you Q3 for your consistently great ideas. After reading that Rolling Stone article that Susie Fierce linked, I wanted to bring these two ideas back into the thread. I've never shopped at Penneys and I hate their new campaign where everyone is screaming, but I will make it a point to go there now. Gracefuladam, I love the idea of buying things at Penneys to donate to the 1in10 camps. It's a perfect tie-in! I don't mean to offend any Republican on ATOP, but the thought of the social agenda of some of these candidates is truly frightening. Every one of them signed a pledge to denounce gay marriage, even though polls show the majority of the country supports it. And the fact that much of the hate directed at the LGBT community comes from churches is just beyond me. Sorry for the berting interruption-that article was truly upsetting. This is not the forum for political or religious discussions. Only Adam news, please!
