We appreciate Adam taking the time to set the record straight, even if it means we have to put a hold on creating our dream set lists for that hypothetical union. A representative for Hollywood Records further addressed the comments to Rolling Stone, stressing that nothing between Lambert and the band has been confirmed, but a live performance this summer is still possible. “The Daily Star item only mentions that Adam may perform with Queen at Sonisphere. This is not confirmed. Nothing has been signed. However, if this were to happen, Queen would be returning to the setting of their final concert with Freddie Mercury, which took place in 1986.” Sonisphere, the European Festival, takes place from July 6-8, at the renowned Knebworth House where Mercury last performed with the band. At least those involved now know the kind of monstrous response an official announcement on the subject would receive. Fingers crossed! Based on that collected articles yesterday (Adam+Queen) it is seems like a world-wide collaboration dream. The EMA had little coverage and most of them are after the event because it was kept a secret, including Adam until that Bieber band member accidentally sent that tweeter message ;D . Even then we still thought other performers will join Queen until after the set was done. We even thought Gaga will join him. NOW, I can't imagine if there is an official announcement. If we only collected 50+ (?) articles about a possible collab, how much more will we get if it is official? A lot of pressure on Adam because it will be covered worldwide, not the actual LIVE performance, but how he will measure up with FM. We, as Adam's fans know how fantastic it would be but haters will find a way to discredit him and do we care? But there will also be new fans and when Adam does his Trespassing Tour I expect these new fans will be curious to see how good he really is, not singing the Queen music, but his own. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!  Yes, there will be haters. The bigger he gets, the worse it will likely get, I'm afraid. Especially stepping in for an icon such as Freddie. But it seems there is still a very large contingent of people who love Queen's music, but are not hardcore stans and understand that Freddie cannot come back and the music deserves to live on. Adam is so incredibly brave to take that on, but we all know he is so courageous on so many levels. I'm loving about all the coverage lately, there has been VERY LITTLE snarkiness, even among the "snobby" music press. |
