I so agree with you, Cassie. Sometimes I wonder, how popular do we want him to be? He will make plenty of money, whatever; and I would prefer he remain just a little bit exclusive, instead of competing with the Gaga's Rihanna's et al. I feel he will always be huge outside the US, and that is fine with me as long as we see him often. That's how I also feel. To be such a megastar as MJ was is not an easy way to live. I think he'll be happier if he can live as normal life as possible - go to groceries, movies, clubs.. and produce that kind of music he himself loves. But the thing is he DOES want to be the big fish. He has been alluding to it in interviews and said it straight out in the Swedish one about how competitive it is and he is constantly competing and strategizing to compete on the highest levels of pop music. This includes picking the biggest producers, songwriters, etc. These are the AAA-list hit makers and he wants to be on that list. This was not accidental. It's not just us wanting it for him. He obviously wants it for himself and he's working his ass off to make it happen.

broadwayworld.com/article/Randy-Jackson-Responds-to-Betty-Buckleys-Too-Broadway-Criticism-20120209AMERICAN IDOL's Randy Jackson Responds to Betty Buckley's 'Too Broadway' Criticism.... "FYI: If you are a fan of the show, then you would know, we had a giant win with a broadway singer named Adam Lambert. One of our greatest contestants, 4 years ago, And yo Betty the dawg ain’t got nothing but love for you. Ever since eight is enough. I want everyone to realize their dreams." Buckley, in turn, responded via Twitter with: "Thank you, Randy. I have been your fan for all these yrs. And yes, I am aware this has been Idol speak for all these yrs. And, yes, we live in the land o free speech. Thank the Lord. And, dearest Randy, w respect U have begun 2 use 'too bway' as a negation. Just sayin'. I'm sure you have lotsa Bway friends. I have lotsa pop rec. prod. & bass player friends. "And yes, vibrato as part of an instrument require deft manipulation & so many POP/rock stars use them. Thanks for the response. You're a courtly dude, Dawg! Wishing you always all the very best always. : ) x O, and as I recall, you guys gave Adam Lambert a hard time n the beginning suggesting he couldn't do more than 'Bway'. ; ....

in the msn music uk interview I found it interesting, how he describes Jessie J, because all of it also applies to him as well. He is also extremely talented and the full package, but many people do not recognize it.
The way he talks about her makes me think, that this could be the collaboration he is hoping for.

music.uk.msn.com/video/?VideoID=28b7qct55OMG! The last 4 minutes of this interview gave me chills and tears!! You know what?! I suddenly don't really care as much about spins and singles! This album is Adam putting his heart and soul out there for the whole world to see. He loves it and has done his best. He has not lost his fanbase, all indications are thtatit has grown. He will be fine. We will be fine. This album is going to be 100% Adam opening up his hearts for his fans! If the rest of the world doesn't see it or want it, their loss! But, I really have the feeling Trespassing is going to blow up the Pop world! << Very verklempt, very happy tears! And, Just popping in to agree with you. I don't care about sales and spins as much as I do about the critical acclaim Adam is getting, and how f*cking proud he must be feeling about this album. It's his creation, his baby, his entire heart and soul...and critics are telling him it's brilliant. If it sells to the masses, great! But if not, there's no failure here.

I also wanted to say really quickly that I wonder why ANYONE thinks that Adam wiill have an easier time with a different single? So far it seems like a lot of people whine and say that a different single like Cuckoo or Trespassing would be totally different and smash right away, etc etc, BUT....1) We haven;t even heard these songs yet so how do we even know if we would actually even like them 2.) Adam has never had an easy time on radio, and until he has at least one big mega smash I can't see him having an easier time. I think we need to adjust our expectations and realize that even if he did drop an amazing utempo tomorrow, it may still be a slow grower. He may ALWAYS be one. Who knows. I stopped angsting about Adam a while back. The US radio peeps are going to be slow to embrace him, have been and IMHO will continue to be. He is a rising global star and the time will come when the US radio can no longer ignore him. I do hope, and think, that he will make headway in the UK market this time. In any event, like a cork, you can try to hold him down but he will keep coming up. Another thought I was having last night as I looked at the east coast tweets and some vids of his visits there last era. Things were so different then and so was his persona. I think many still have the last era etched in their mind. It will be very interesting to see how they treat him this time around and I expect many will think, whoa, he seems different/more mature/more superstar than before and perhaps will have more respect for him as a regular person and not simply an OTT showman - if that makes sense. Anyway, long winded way to say he will be fine and seems happy, so I'm happy for him.

Q3 or anyone who knows things- with respect to airplay: I know that payola is not payola if it is an openly disclosed "deal" such as the one Interscope wrangled to have Madonna's new song played at the top of every hour on all Clear Channel stations. I know that a few other top tier artists like Rihanna have benefited from the same arrangement. I understand that Adam is not in Madonna's league (yet), but do we have any ideas about how Interscope secured such a "deal" with Clear Channel and how much money such a deal might involve?

(I guess I tried to say that his life will be wonderful even though he wouldn't be as big. So we should not have any need for angst).

JazzRocks, they actually had radio people at Kris's concert? Like PDs? No, not that I heard about. James Durbin went. People were texting that Durbs looked bored and stayed on his phone for most of the concert. Lane was there with him. (poor Lane ) Lyndsey Parker was there and a couple of the writers NAL wrote with. That is all I've heard so far.
