I agree that it doesn't feel like RCA is pushing this song. But, I am beginning to get the sense that the reason they are not pushing hard is because it is becoming more and more obvious that radio really isn't interested. And I do think it's the song, because the radio peeps who meet Adam certainly seem to love him. I do think BTIKM can climb into the top 20 (maybe top 15) on HAC, but I really have no faith in CHR picking this up. And I'm not expecting Z100 to add.
But, RCA will make something work. And I do think they are working over-time to add some "radio ready" tracks. I mean, someone dug up that Bruno song. It's not some brand-new song written for Adam. Someone at the label went lookingfor CHR-friendly stuff.
I will never understand why RCA always seems to learn the hard way when it comes to Adam. I mean, how hard could it be to ask the nation's #1 pop station whether or not they like a song enough to add it to their playlist? Or play them 2 or 3 songs and find out which one they like best?
There are lots of positives. I do think radio will embrace Adam with the right song. And I do think Trespassing will have lots of tracks that will appeal to CHR. And an album delay right now takes some of the pressure off while Adam's team gets its act together. The delay also puts more distance between Madonna and Nicki's releases and will give Adele a chance to cool off after the Grammy bump.
What's most frustrating to me is that I really feel like Adam is right on the cusp of breaking out in a big way. I feel like it is going to happen, it is just a matter of when. And I honestly feel like RCA (and a lot of the industry) is waiting for this to happen, as well, and are willing to do what it takes.

The three songs ahead of Adam should be passed in the next couple days. His spin increase is much larger than theirs and he is very close behind.

They didn't just dig up the Bruno song. He & the press has been talking about the Bruno song for 2 months. It's included on this press release from Mid December

Twotrue--Interesting theory. Not unlike mine and some others tbh. Gosh I hope that's true. Although I wonder if that is something that is ever done/done a lot and whether or not it's a strategy that makes sense. Or financial sense. That video didn't come cheap, and having a hit single near album drop doesn't hurt...IDK IDK. I refuse to believe RCA wasn't pushing this, and I refuse to believe radio HATES this. They dug WWFM and this song imo, while similar-ish, is def more current. It IS totaly pop radio ear candy as TONS of music bloggers called it. SO IDGI.
RCA is either not pushing it for some big reason that will make sense in the end--and I want to believe our theory is right but then I start thinking about it and a lot doesn't make sense--or RCA is incompetant/radio hates this song. And I can't really believe that either. To me it doesn't make sense and it's too doom and gloom.
In other words I am stymied.
I wish I knew if your theory was more common/something that has been done successfully before so it wouldn't seem so WTF out of left field. Or perhaps it's some new strategy because he is a diff artist with diff kinda of obstacles. IDK IDK.
Happy the song is growing on HAC. I hope Z will add. IMO WWFM was not more current than BTIKM and they spun the shit out of it.

Exactly. And that's why I have a hard time believing that RCA is ready to move to single #2 this soon.
I hope this isn't true (I think myspenser dispelled it already). From what we've heard in the UK reviews there are MANY songs that are potential smash singles. I hate this theory that they had to dig up an old Bruno song.
I have no explanation for why RCA seemingly dropped the ball when the single was originally released. Another theory I hate to entertain is that Joe R. has his sights set on huge promo for nal and Adam's not a top priority. That was bandied about early because he was apparently a big supporter of nal on Jive & because of that interview with TK. This makes no financial sense to me because A was a much bigger success in era#1 than nal. But if this is true there's not much we can do about it.
Ok - that's 2 theories I "hate". Now I need to find one I like! ;D

AND I AM NOT SAYING YOU ARE DELUSIONAL lol because I know this has to be other people's angst and bs seeping into your calm and rational mind lol. There's sooo many reasons why this shouldn't even be a worry that I don't have time to type them all out...and I actually like Kris! I just don't think he is a threat at all lmao Oh and about the RCA is "finding more radio friendly songs"....I think it's about finishing these last min collabs, not the label scratching everything...I am not even worried about that.

I said I HATED the Joe R nal-priority theory & I agree that it's very far-fetched and makes no sense. But I'm not sure it's all nal stans as someone brought it up here in this thread. In fact that's why I mentioned it.
I think many of us are puzzled and grasping at straws for explanations as to why BTIKM hasn't done as well as we expected thus far and why RCA was late with the promo.
But I'm not angsting & I'm not giving up on BTIKM. It's still heading in the right direction and this East Coast promo has to help!

Even if they aren't his fans they obvsly are shit stirrers/concern trollers or need to step back and take a few deep breaths lolol cause that is REALLY stretching it lmaoooooooooo
