I saw this article and while it is about country music artists, it really speaks to how I feel about a lot of the music I find too shallow and lacking depth. Why These 5 Successful Country Singers Aren't That GoodOne of the cornerstones of American music genres is country music, which has a deep history and tradition. Authenticity in country music isn't just about acoustic instruments and cowboy boots; it's about raw emotion and telling stories that resonate with the listener's life. This sincerity, integral to the genre, must be added to some artists' music. Jake Owen: The Party Anthem King-Jake Owen, known for his frat boy image and party anthems, faces criticism for producing music that falls under the 'bro-country' category. His songs often need more depth and substance than traditionally associated with country music. Luke Bryan: Country's Heartthrob-Despite his good looks and catchy tunes, Luke Bryan is on this list because his music often needs more depth. Critics argue that his tracks tend to be shallow, barely scratching the surface of the genre's potential. Florida Georgia Line: The Bro-Country Duo-Florida Georgia Line, a duo known for their 'bro-country' sound, often faces backlash for their music, which is considered too trashy and devoid of class. Their style is viewed as a poor representation of country music. Why They Are Considered the Worst-Pop-orientation Over Authenticity These singers' music is often criticized for being too pop-oriented, diluting the authenticity of country music. The extensive use of electronic instruments and synthesized sounds goes against traditional country music norms. ' Bro-country,' a subgenre known for its party anthems and focus on partying, needs more substance, making these artists' music fall short of the richness of country music. Following the same formulaic approach in music production makes the music sound repetitive and generic. These artists' lack of originality has cost them their critical reception. The Bright Side of Country MusicDespite the shortcomings of some artists, country music continues to thrive. Here are a few artists pushing boundaries and carrying the genre's torch forward. Sturgill Simpson,Chris Stapleton,Jason Isbell, Kacey MusgravesImo, I would add Brandi Carlile to that group. These artists are not radio darlings in the country world and not at the top of the country charts but they have critical acclaim and many Grammy nominations and wins. The question for me is, how did they get the recognition without riding high on charts? I don't think Brandi gets any country radio play tho she does get some rock and alt play. But she wins rock, alt and country Grammy's. And Kacey gets tepid country radio play and even put out a song in support of the LGBT community (that they pretty much ignored tho there was nothing in your face about the song). And she ended up winning about 4 Grammy's that year. HA. How do they get the recognition while avoiding the shallow lack of substance music the kids seem to enjoy? Is it because they get some radio play, tho not a lot, but enough to put them on the radar? I think Velvet had some critical works with substance (Closer To You, Feel Something and others) for Adam but Covid got in the way. And the only song that got a little radio play was Superpower before everything came crashing down. I still hold out hope that one day he will find his way there with some great work and recognition for his outstanding vocals. I believe he deserves that. www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/unpopular-opinion-why-these-5-successful-country-singers-aren-t-that-good/ar-AA1f63gu?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=4846d3e254534120904b78a80a2354af&ei=41

Made a donation for Adam’s FSFoundation (within first 48 hrs) and got double entry points for the Stonewall trip. Fingers crossed 😝
About shallow music pleasing the masses vs. songs that go a bit deeper… I think that both have a valid place in entertainment. I personally often crave lighthearted, heart pumping pop music over drama and depth, be it disco infused or electro or urban flavored. But I think there’s a time and mood for everything. It would drive me crazy to only listen to ballads and I sure love my beat heavy workout and dance tunes. And a lot of my friends at the gym classes feel the same. They are not teens lol.
I get where Adam is coming from wanting to make music that he listens to when out and about and enjoying himself. My favorite Adam singles to date are Ghost Town and Superpower btw. The “kids” love Ghost Town and my DH’s favorite Adam song is The Original High. He was so disappointed that it wasn’t the go to single.
