Regardless of sexual orientation some people are more OK to Talk about Sex with Others/Friends and some are Not.
There were many different very good and valid Points Made from various Angles.

I think Adam knew this wouldn't go over very well with a portion of his fan base, but he took the chance and put it out there anyway, so he shouldn't be surprised when he gets push back. I personally don't care for the in your face attitude that Adam has been showing lately. I stayed away during Pride Month thinking I could avoid the June attitude and activities of Adam and his friends. I feel like in the beginning of his career I remember Adam saying that being gay was only part of who he is, but lately it seems like it's much larger part than ever before. My neighbors are gay husbands and Adam is even to much for them. They say he fosters the perception that gays are all hanging out half naked in bars and have sex on their mind all the time. These two guys are late 40's one is an attorney and the other is a high school principal, exactly the opposite as Adam and his friends. I've actually become good friends with them and enjoy their company. If you don't agree with Adam he usually accuses you of being homophobic or ignorant. I know I'm neither of those things, I just have my limits of what I'm comfortable with. I feel Like...only guessing Game on my part... that Adam feels the need to Push the bounderies because there are real forces that want to criminalize the existence of him and His Friends.And this music and these visuals change that how for him and his friends? More acceptance and less attacks by politicians who want to legislate them out of existence? I don't think so. The book bans in schools and libraries on anything related to sexuality. Erasure for LGBT kids in schools and taking away the parents rights to choose the best medical care for their kids are major problems and heartbreaking. Yes there is a hard road ahead and many are helping with the fight, but it is not about grown men getting naked, putting gay sex front and center in music, playing dress-up and clubbing. It is fun for some of these adults but not the biggest challenges facing the community as a whole. It would be better if there was no pretense of who this is for and why it was done. It is not about changing minds and attitudes. Just own what you are doing (which Adam does) because that is what you want to do and how you want to represent yourself to your community. Some outside his community will pay attention and cheer him on and others will find it a bore and disappointment. To each his own. But Adam has a platform and he has been a great ambassador for his community so I expect that will continue. However, maybe not in this form in the future. |

It's not just gay-centric. Especially with men. Straight men are generally focused on sex in some way or another far more than straight women are. It's just that some gay guys are more overt about it. And they're in a subculture that allows it. Adam is part of that culture, and he has a public voice that allows lots of people to hear what he thinks. Not everybody has to agree. In light of today's political news, it's more important than ever to focus on the candidates that want to ensure that people have rights, not take them away. |
