How busy is this guy gonna be?!?
Planning/rehearsing/performing with Queen Promoting his singles/album Planning his tour.
All full time jobs.
And, Cassie - I agree about the intensity of his performances. Many of the rock singers of old (Robert Plant, anyone) may have given long, hard performances, but have paid dearly. I would rather Adam take some flack for shorter sets and protect that amazing instrument. But I feel confident he will find the right balance.

ontheredcarpet @ontheredcarpet Reply Retweeted Favorite · Open Adam Lambert to perform with Queen - CONFIRMED bit.ly/lambertqueen Brian May says he's sure Freddie Mercury would approve of #AdamLambert' www.ontheredcarpet.com/Adam-Lambert-to-perform-with-Queen---confirmed/8551938Adam Lambert has confirmed that he will perform with the legendary rock band Queen, while its guitarist, Brian May, said he is sure Freddie Mercury would approve of the decision. Lambert, a glam rocker and "American Idol" finalist, is a longtime fan of the British group and of Mercury, its late flamboyant frontman. He is set to sing on stage in July with May, 64, and drummer Roger Taylor, 62, during the second day of the 2012 Sonisphere touring hard rock festival at Knebworth Park in Stevenage, located north of London. A UK tabloid had said earlier this month that Lambert would perform there with the band. "As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!" Lambert, 30, said on his Twitter page late on Monday. "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!" "Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy," May said in a statement, posted on the event's website. "It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush." more

Very appropriate reading today indeed, but do you know where it is from? Isn't it the Sunday Times UK? It was a fantastic 2 page piece in the colour supplement. THE prestigious newspaper in the UK.

Um, actually, 1.5 to 2 hours is a very long time to sing the way that Adam sings. Most pop songs and rock songs have a very narrow range. About an octave, with most of the notes in the song in only about a 5 note range. The phrases are short. the singers take frequent breaths in the middle of phrases. Also, they may not be singing for all that time: dance breaks, banter between songs, costume changes. Not to mention that many DO NOT EVEN SING, but lip sync or sing very lightly over a backing track. Adam's songs and his creativity with them are a different thing altogether. They have much more range, and when he sings live, he adds extra riffs that extend the range further. He also supports the musical lines with extraordinary breath control. That requires muscles, and, it is a real work out. Adam sings full out all the time. Doesn't take the easy way out. Never lip syncs and depends on the backing track. What he is doing requires tremendous energy. Imagine yourself giving a speech in a formal setting for 1.5 or 2 hours. Just talking, your voice would probably start to give out. Yes, Adam has the technique to do what most mere mortals cannot, but assailing the Queen repertoire and the Mercury stage energy is going to push him to the max. It would be very smart to give Adam short breaks. Protect that voice, and revive that energy. Makes sense to me. I'm sure many components factor into how the setlist is set up so pacing and intensity of the songs is surely one. There are songs that Brian did the vocals on and others that Roger sang, so in combination with that, musical interludes, and Adam's input, they should be fine. I would love the details on all of this- like how many songs Adam must learn the lyrics to before they finally settle on the ones they will indeed perform. And then during the rehearsal week immediately preceding the show I'll bet further changes are made. Their catalog is so enormous that it must be a real feat to whittle it down to just the perfect few and no matter how many they do there will be fans disappointed to have not heard their favorite. I can't wait to see what we get!

Lovely voice ,but IMHO can't hold a candle to Adam in vocals, delivery or charisma.Just saying Good voice, true. But is lacking the intensity, the strength, and delivery that Adam oozes. In other words, Adam will blow this guy and all other Queen guests out of the water. Absolutely - I only posted it for interest

Just noticed that Adam tweeted about B.O.B. Could B.O.B. be the collaborator he was hoping to work with?

Freddie purests think Queen should have stopped performing when he died. NO ONE is good enough. I honestly think that Adam is getting this hate because for the first time, Queen has chosen a vocalist that is as good or maybe even better than Freddie. They feel threatened that the songs will sound as good as when Freddie sang them. So far, only George Michael's has accomplished that and it was one song(I think), one time, so no threat! You took the ideas straight out of my head. Freddie purists would be much happier with a much lesser singer. They could then say with confidence, "He did a nice job, but he is NO FREDDIE MERCURY. Not even close!" No offense to Freddie fans, but, Adam's voice is actually better than Freddie's. Even Roger said that Adam had the biggest range he had ever heard from a singer. Adam also has more control over his voice. And, he has a richer, fuller tone. Not taking anything away from Freddie --- he was the ultimate showman. And a great song writer. Before he blew out his voice, he had great range, too. He just did not have the years of technical training that Adam had, so he did not have the skills in control and manipulation of the voice that Adam has. Whether you prefer Freddie's more raw sound and sharper tone is a matter of individual taste. But, there are going to be many listeners who are not die-hard Freddie fans, who will be saying Adam sounded phenomenal, and even stronger than Freddie. Couple that with Adam's remarkable stage presence and aura, and Freddie stans have reason to worry that Adam could topple Freddie from his position as the "best" in rock. I do find it hilarious that one of the criticisms of Adam is that he is GAY and flamboyant. FFS, Freddie named the band "Queen." And, have they forgotten the outrageous outfits he wore? Him doing a video in drag? I don't think Adam is any threat to outdo Freddie in the flamboyant department. hahaha
