Lovely voice ,but IMHO can't hold a candle to Adam in vocals, delivery or charisma.Just saying Good voice, true. But is lacking the intensity, the strength, and delivery that Adam oozes. In other words, Adam will blow this guy and all other Queen guests out of the water. The voice may be OK, but why on Earth would someone perform with Queen wearing torn jeans and a T-shirt?! Freddie/Queen was all about performance and presentation ... this guy looked like he was just rehearsing ... :(

Taylor Swift was on the Jay Leno show last night. Jay asked her what inspired the song she wrote that won 2 Grammy's this year "You're so mean" or what ever the title was. She said that after the song came out, everyone took it to mean that she had been bullied in high school, and that she got many letters from fans telling her how much the song helped them to feel better. Turns out, she wrote that song in response to a Music Critic that was really slamming her performances, writing SCATHING reviews of her. She said it really hurt her feelings, and that song popped in her head, and it won 2 Grammys and now she feels better.
So reminded me of Adam! Taylor is one that has lots of people talking about how she is not talented and can't really hold a tune. Yet she is incredibly popular and huge right now.
So Adam, I feel that you will win out over all these haters, for what ever reason. So glad to see that the hate fuels his fire! It will be an amazing performance!!!!!!

I have realized more and more how driven Adam is. I think many of us imagine reacting with hurt and devastation to hate, just wanting to go hide. But sports psychology has shown that for very driven people at the elite competitive level, there can be an energizing effect, a feeling of becoming even stronger and more powerful.
Elite athletes often say that when they get a bad call or another player on the field plays unfairly, that their gut fills with anger and they are fueled with the desire for revenge. Anger and determination are very close in the psychological spectrum.
Adam usually speaks with a light touch but I believe he is a person with a competitiveness so fierce that he burns to win. He is intent on showing every doubting person, everyone who treats him as if he is trespassing, that he is a man to be reckoned with.
"Yeah my ass, wait'll you get a load of me"!

Um, actually, 1.5 to 2 hours is a very long time to sing the way that Adam sings. Most pop songs and rock songs have a very narrow range. About an octave, with most of the notes in the song in only about a 5 note range. The phrases are short. the singers take frequent breaths in the middle of phrases. Also, they may not be singing for all that time: dance breaks, banter between songs, costume changes. Not to mention that many DO NOT EVEN SING, but lip sync or sing very lightly over a backing track. Adam's songs and his creativity with them are a different thing altogether. They have much more range, and when he sings live, he adds extra riffs that extend the range further. He also supports the musical lines with extraordinary breath control. That requires muscles, and, it is a real work out. Adam sings full out all the time. Doesn't take the easy way out. Never lip syncs and depends on the backing track. What he is doing requires tremendous energy. Imagine yourself giving a speech in a formal setting for 1.5 or 2 hours. Just talking, your voice would probably start to give out. Yes, Adam has the technique to do what most mere mortals cannot, but assailing the Queen repertoire and the Mercury stage energy is going to push him to the max. It would be very smart to give Adam short breaks. Protect that voice, and revive that energy. Makes sense to me. I'm sure many components factor into how the setlist is set up so pacing and intensity of the songs is surely one. There are songs that Brian did the vocals on and others that Roger sang, so in combination with that, musical interludes, and Adam's input, they should be fine. I would love the details on all of this- like how many songs Adam must learn the lyrics to before they finally settle on the ones they will indeed perform. And then during the rehearsal week immediately preceding the show I'll bet further changes are made. Their catalog is so enormous that it must be a real feat to whittle it down to just the perfect few and no matter how many they do there will be fans disappointed to have not heard their favorite. I can't wait to see what we get! I wonder how many of the songs Adam already knows the lyrics to. As bad as my current memory is, I can still remember lyrics to songs I learned as a kid/teen. It should certainly be easier than if he were learning new music. As someone said earlier, all that singing to the mirror is paying off!

If Freddie Mercury could do it night after night, Adam can sing his songs for one night. There are many singers out there who have a huge range (Mariah) who did concerts that were an hour and a half + on a regular basis. A speech for 1 and a half or 2 hours? Singers do shows that are 90 minutes or more on a regular basis! A 90 minute show is not unusual, in the past or present! I see your point Tigerlily. However, many of those old rockers blew out their voices prematurely. Adam actually understands vocal production and probably will go to great lengths to preserve his chords. The greatest opera singers pace themselves carefully too. That is probably the ultimate in extreme singing. They get a long intermission and generally don't sing an opera 2 nights in a row.

Gotta agree with Tigerlilly. If Adam is going to do bigger venues and presumably charge bigger prices, he needs to do a 90 minute concert. I go to a lot of concerts, and unless it is a tiny venue, if I don't get a 90 minute show from the headliner, I feel gypped. He knows how to handle his voice and will probably lower the keys, like he did for Glam Nation. Also, if he does bigger venues, he will do fewer concerts. That is how the bigger stars get by with longer shows, they do less shows. That's why I am hoping that Trespasing is big enough for Adam to jump up in venue size.
^^ Exactly how to make a show a little longer! ^^
ETA: Now after saying all that, I would expect a performance, for a festival with many other bands, to be between an hour- 90 minutes. IMO, an hour performance, at a festival, is acceptable.

Thanks for posting this info on Taylor. I find it very interesting to learn the reason behind the lyrics to a song and that's one of the reasons why I'm so excited about Trespassing - b/c Adam has given us glimpses into what inspired the songs. In the 9/25/11 issue of Parade magazine, there was a little blip about Gavin DeGraw and he said that nearly every song he writes is a window into at least one moment in his life and that his single "Not Over You" is about vulnerability meeting pride. www.parade.com/celebrity/personality-parade/2011/09/25/gavin-degraw.html

Freddie purests think Queen should have stopped performing when he died. NO ONE is good enough. I honestly think that Adam is getting this hate because for the first time, Queen has chosen a vocalist that is as good or maybe even better than Freddie. They feel threatened that the songs will sound as good as when Freddie sang them. So far, only George Michael's has accomplished that and it was one song(I think), one time, so no threat! www.deaneogden.com/2012/02/14/adam-lambert-queen-and-creativity/#

They feel threatened that the songs will sound as good as when Freddie sang them. So far, only George Michael's has accomplished that and it was one song(I think), one time, so no threat! You took the ideas straight out of my head. Freddie purists would be much happier with a much lesser singer. They could then say with confidence, "He did a nice job, but he is NO FREDDIE MERCURY. Not even close!" No offense to Freddie fans, but, Adam's voice is actually better than Freddie's. Even Roger said that Adam had the biggest range he had ever heard from a singer. Adam also has more control over his voice. And, he has a richer, fuller tone. Not taking anything away from Freddie --- he was the ultimate showman. And a great song writer. Before he blew out his voice, he had great range, too. He just did not have the years of technical training that Adam had, so he did not have the skills in control and manipulation of the voice that Adam has. Whether you prefer Freddie's more raw sound and sharper tone is a matter of individual taste. But, there are going to be many listeners who are not die-hard Freddie fans, who will be saying Adam sounded phenomenal, and even stronger than Freddie. Couple that with Adam's remarkable stage presence and aura, and Freddie stans have reason to worry that Adam could topple Freddie from his position as the "best" in rock. I do find it hilarious that one of the criticisms of Adam is that he is GAY and flamboyant. FFS, Freddie named the band "Queen." And, have they forgotten the outrageous outfits he wore? Him doing a video in drag? I don't think Adam is any threat to outdo Freddie in the flamboyant department. hahaha
