Just purchased tickets for Sonisphere. Wouldn't miss it for the world though might have to sell my first born. Oooh! Hadn't thought of that! Anyone need an uncommunicative 39 year old female brat? Nope - already got one of those. ;D

Anybody love Queen and want to gently and kindly bring some fresh life into a slightly traumatized Queen forum? (there is some positivity)... Perhaps we should send our most brilliant Adamtopia diplimat/fanthropologist/fanchologist over for middle east level conflict negotiation. Or maybe, we should choose 3 of our most potent Adam videos, tip toe in, place them quietly at their feet, and retreat without a word? Tread very lightly. They definitely feel that Freddie's grave is being trampled on and that the choice of a mere American Idol is a deep insult to the Queen name and of course, Freddie. These are people that want to be happy. They really do. They just need a little gentle help. Or maybe we should each go in and lay down a peace symbol with a kind and loving message explaining that we understand how they feel and hope they will be open to Adam as an entirely separate talent. Or better yet a silent march. If every one of us layed down 1 peace symbol and 1 love symbol (and perhaps one piece of proof that Adam is most certainly not a cliche "American Idol") and left without a word I think we could win them over to the fierce force. discuss.queenonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3599&start=450Somehow I don't think they will be paying attention to any newly registered members right now- it's too transparent. Just IMO, but I say wait and let Adam's vocals do the talking. YMMV. We could help them along with a little Adam Lambert vocals exposure therapy. We wouldn't have to say a thing. Too obvious?. Ah well. There must be a way to subtly lure a few of them gently out of the crevasse of woe. Help them live again. It really is quite sad.

Skylar, I've been following the Queen boards too. *bring on the popcorn*!!!
I'm afraid any attempt to try to convince them otherwise will result in more scorn and mockery of Adam's fans, and it will reflect badly upon Adam.
There are some of them who have spoken in favor of Queen's decision to have Adam as a frontman, so they are already doing a good job of discussing the pros and cons themselves.
Plus, they are QUEEN fans. For them, it's less about Adam, as it is about Roger and Brian's decision to sing with ANY singer that is not Freddy. Adam just irks them extra bad bc of the American Idol connection, and tbh, no matter how good Adam is, that connection is not going away. So if it's AI that bothers them so much, there's nothing we can do.
Best approach is to let them do their thing and let the performance speak for itself, IMO.

www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/adam-lambert-to-sing-with-queen-3026594.htmlAdam Lambert to sing with Queen Adam Lambert is joining rock band Queen for one concert this summer, at Sonisphere 2012. The former American Idol singer tweeted: "As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!" He added: "The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band." Adam had previously tried to play down his comments that he planned to perform a tribute to the late Freddie Mercury, the band's lead singer. He told his Twitter followers: "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could." Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor confirmed that the American singer-songwriter will perform vocals for the band's headline set on the second day of the rock festival, 26 years after Queen's final concert with Freddie Mercury at Knebworth in August 1986. "It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush," said Brian.

I have realized more and more how driven Adam is. I think many of us imagine reacting with hurt and devastation to hate, just wanting to go hide. But sports psychology has shown that for very driven people at the elite competitive level, there can be an energizing effect, a feeling of becoming even stronger and more powerful. Elite athletes often say that when they get a bad call or another player on the field plays unfairly, that their gut fills with anger and they are fueled with the desire for revenge. Anger and determination are very close in the psychological spectrum. Adam usually speaks with a light touch but I believe he is a person with a competitiveness so fierce that he burns to win. He is intent on showing every doubting person, everyone who treats him as if he is trespassing, that he is a man to be reckoned with. "Yeah my ass, wait'll you get a load of me"! I completely agree with these comments...very insightful, bb! Thank you sweetie!!

I'm not going to read any more of the negative comments after some of the articles or go to the Queen blog. It just upsets me. I'm reminding myself that Queen is Iconic. That Brian and Roger want Adam but ALSO, TPTB putting on the Sonishpere Festival seemed to have enough faith in Queen featuring Adam that they made them the headliner for Saturday night. There will also, apparently, be a guest star(s) to get people excited. EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE ALRIGHT!!!

Anyone who thinks Adam represents American Idol just needs a reality check. A few kick-ass drag pics and some Zodiac awesomesauce should cure it. OK. ... Just an idea. Not going to go all rash and do somethin crazy like y'all.
