I'm watching The Voice on Much Music right now. A snippet of the BTIKM video was shown during a commercial break.

NoAngel
I do believe Adam likes you in your avi just the way you are since he answers your questions with pretty good frequency in twitter parties, lol.
Seriously, sometimes I wonder who is reading here. I go by pflynne on twitter. Lynne is my middle name. My son, who followed me on twitter after he recognized my grandson in my twitter avi, calls me P. Flynne. That seems kind of a natural reading of the name.
The other day I received a response to a tweet from someone I discovered indirectly through Adam but now follow for his own sake. In the tweet he called me "Lynne," which surprised me as I only use that name here.
Hmmmmm....

Yo! Nationalglampoon! You around?
Someone earlier today posted about simple four chord songs (with a hilarious YT example). Then someone else asked how BTIKM is more complex than a 4 chord song, whatever that was. I refrained from replying because, now that you are a member here, YOU are the music composition major. Want to give it a shot?
Don't want members to feel their questions are being ignored (even if I cannot remember who asked it).

Perhaps the effect for BTIKM, from Queen news, has been a slight i-Tunes bump. His spins haven't increased, and yet, BTIKM was in the low 900s 2 days ago and now it is right around 780. Also, the video was at #45 2 days ago and now it is at #34. Yesterday and earlier today, it was higher! The music video moved up to #18 about 24 hours ago -- and they only possible cause I can find was the Queen news buzz. #45 up yo #18 is a pretty big move. ETA: Chords in BTIKM -- will change based on key but there are 5. Gm Bb F Eb F/A There are some very humorous videos about 4-chord pop songs but Mozart used 4-chord progressions. It is how you use the chords -- not how many you use.

Is anyone familiar with the children's story about the Rainbow Fish? It is a very popular allegory about not thinking you are better than everyone else, but sharing your attributes with others in order for them to accept you and be your friend. A very good lesson for kids. However, something about the story always bothered me. See, the Rainbow Fish WAS the most beautiful fish in the ocean, with gorgeous jewel-toned scales. All the other fish wanted his scales. In order to be accepted by them, the Rainbow Fish gives each of the other fish a beautiful scale, until he only has one left--- the same amount as all the other fish. Then, they all play happily together. It seems to me that the story is not saying you need to share yourself with others as much as it is saying you must strip yourself of your individuality and beauty in order to "fit in." You must make everyone equal - even tho' it requires you to painfully extract the very thing that makes you the special person you are. Why am I writing about the Rainbow Fish on Adamtopia? Because it seems to me that there are those out there who do not like Adam, will not play with Adam (or play his songs) BECAUSE Adam is uniquely himself, uniquely beautiful. In order to get his songs played on the radio he has to strip himself of those unique qualities in order to sound like everything else on the radio. I would much rather Adam stay true to himself and make his kind of music his way, even if it means he does not become a mega-star with songs playing every hour and soaring up to the top of the charts. I would much prefer that Adam gets the critical acclaim and recognition and has healthy sales and a reasonable profit. I'm not saying it is an "either/or" situation. There is always the possibility that his unique voice and musicianship will catch on and rage thru the pop music world like wild-fire. But, if it doesn't, I never want him to compromise his voice, his style, his musicianship in order to look/sound like every other fish in the sea. IMHO. YMMV Dropping after a long workday to say THANK YOU both

scorpio - what you said makes perfect sense to me. (though I completely understand passing on Sophie as we have more than proved ourselves there).
In terms of requesting, for a little while I was monitoring my Top 40 stations twitter @'s just to see what other requests they were getting. I was seeing plenty of requests for Bruno, and Katy, and Adele and Gaga. Sometimes I wondered, why on earth are people requesting a song that is gonna get played in the next 20 minutes regardless? But people were. We don't know how big a role requests play for each individual station. But they clearly play some role.
We don't know how many fans are actively requesting. We know if we are individually, but in the larger fandom?
Maybe 250 members browse here on an average-ish day, but 3,500 guests do. Do they request? Do they get discouraged or encouraged to request by what they read from the posts? We don't know.
(Okay just a slight digression, like people have said, feelings are all valid, everyone's opinion is their own and they have all the freedom in the world to share. But sometimes I consider, what will be the effect of how I share my feelings on a larger community much of which is invisible? Might it incidentally effect others behavior? Not my responsibility of course, but maybe one consideration).
I request to show interest and engagement with the station, Adam, and the song. I request to make my voice heard. I request to build karma points for Adam, whether or not my song is played that day, or the next, or never. That's why I do it.
