Is anyone familiar with the children's story about the Rainbow Fish? It is a very popular allegory about not thinking you are better than everyone else, but sharing your attributes with others in order for them to accept you and be your friend. A very good lesson for kids. However, something about the story always bothered me. See, the Rainbow Fish WAS the most beautiful fish in the ocean, with gorgeous jewel-toned scales. All the other fish wanted his scales. In order to be accepted by them, the Rainbow Fish gives each of the other fish a beautiful scale, until he only has one left--- the same amount as all the other fish. Then, they all play happily together. It seems to me that the story is not saying you need to share yourself with others as much as it is saying you must strip yourself of your individuality and beauty in order to "fit in." You must make everyone equal - even tho' it requires you to painfully extract the very thing that makes you the special person you are. Why am I writing about the Rainbow Fish on Adamtopia? Because it seems to me that there are those out there who do not like Adam, will not play with Adam (or play his songs) BECAUSE Adam is uniquely himself, uniquely beautiful. In order to get his songs played on the radio he has to strip himself of those unique qualities in order to sound like everything else on the radio. I would much rather Adam stay true to himself and make his kind of music his way, even if it means he does not become a mega-star with songs playing every hour and soaring up to the top of the charts. I would much prefer that Adam gets the critical acclaim and recognition and has healthy sales and a reasonable profit. I'm not saying it is an "either/or" situation. There is always the possibility that his unique voice and musicianship will catch on and rage thru the pop music world like wild-fire. But, if it doesn't, I never want him to compromise his voice, his style, his musicianship in order to look/sound like every other fish in the sea. IMHO. YMMV Cassie you said what I have been thinking so beautifully..The Rainbow Fish says it all. I feel Adam's pain.. It's right there in his description of Trespassing.. what he has said many times in interviews.. to paraphrase: that in spite of being an outsider and having people not want him around(music business) fuck them he's coming in. Adam seems to have gotten caught up in the competitive nature of the business.. IMHO, He wants the trappings of success and he wants it bad.I understand the rationale of playing the game ,so that eventually you can become famous and then finally will be able to be creative and unique. The truth is that many of us fell in love with Adam for his uniqueness, creativity and balls to the wall attitude to begin with. No makeup,I do love him without it,songs that are generic, placating Djs ,RCA,etc. at what point will Adam no longer recognize himself?? Is it worth it to sell your soul to the devil.. Only Adam can answer that. Of course he has RCA and a contract to also answer to. In the meantime, when the next single comes out,I wish with all my heart that Adam's label will let him go for it.. release an over the top 'real' Adam ,self written song. At this point what do they have to lose? IMHO they have everything to gain.. Because stripping that Rainbow Fish is just WRONG! "sell your soul to the devil..." "give his fins away"..."stripping that Rainbow Fish"... Are you serious. You think Adam is selling his soul to the devil? Do you think Adam has only one kind of music and only one way to dress and loves only one kind of song? Adam is so multi-faceted. Please don't sell him short. Who are we to decide that he is "stripping that Rainbow Fish." I think that is so disrespectful of Adam to ask "at what point will Adam no longer recognize himself." Does every fan have only one restricted view of Adam and if he doesn't do things that particular fan's way, he is "selling his soul"? We are now his judge and jury? How can anyone even think that of Adam. Now I am shaking and I can't believe anyone thinks that of him. I am dumbfounded. I need more coffee. Wow! :-/ ETA-PLAY THAT RADIO GAME ADAM BABY - I'LL PLAY RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU!

If Adam is out there playing the radio game, I'll play the radio games as well. I'm voting on this Sophie thing just because the other guy wants it so badly. BTW, the thread today is making me all angsty. There is so much good going on with Mr. Lambert's career. Personally, I like BTIKM. I don't listen to it very often but there isn't a morning that it's not in my head. It's the first song that I start singing out loud. I too have become a Top 40 fan. I listen to it ALL THE TIME. It's driving my husband crazy. I too see no reason why BTIKM isn't getting played more. I see the differences from the songs they seem to be beating to death but I also hear a lot of other songs that are very different that are getting played during drive time. I think all the points that are being made this a.m. are valid. Whatever the stigma, Adam walking into the stations and giving the interviews has got to eventually pay off for him. We have to keep supporting him and interact with the stations as well. Adam's playing the game and so we should too. Keep requesting and, damn it, I'm beginning to feel like holding them accountable......not enough requests just cannot be true.

One doesn't executive produce their own album if they simply want to blend in.

So much fun to see all of the new people and especially the delurkers posting!!!
Off on a two-day computer-less vacation today, and thanks to our wonderful archivist, I have the EMA performance added to the rest of my Adam music. My four-hour drive should pass very quickly!
I like bullet points, too:
- Dunno what to say about the single. People like dumb, apparently.
- Does the Queen thing give RCA a good reason to reboot with a different single?
- I have no idea how I will manage to ever, ever catch up when I return.
Have a good week, everyone.

Newly uploaded video from the station. Uploaded by 943ThePoint on Feb 21, 2012 Lou & Liz interview Adam Lambert on the 94.3 The Point Sound Stage. Liz is a total goofy fan girl. She was even making me slightly uncomfortable with her endless fan girl gushing. But how could she help it? He is so beautiful. She's right that his eyes are one of the most amazing features about him. Nice interview.

On Twitter, how do you see the @tweets people are receiving. I like to check that my tweet went through. Since they changed Twitter, I can't. Anybody out there: Can you tell me how to do that?

OH, I forgot what I really wanted to say...I think Adam responded to the haters this time in part because he was inspired by Ellen Degeneres doing the same on her show in response to the JCP thing. Especially since he used her phrase, "my haters are my motivators."

Happy Birthday ravenschilde and cheesehead I hope you have a great day today!!!! Adams tweet yesterday “Haters: y'all just adding fuel to my fire! U make me work harder. Thank you for the motivation.” The comment started me thinking. (Always a dangerous think -- Q3 thinking!!) Q3 your response to this was beautiful and brilliant. I wanted to share a tweet I sent Adam who knows if he will ever see it but I wanted to share-
@adamlambert haters=ignorance=pathetic=unfulfilled U=perseverance=triumph=happiness=love=what all of ur fans hope u have the rest of ur life.
