From the comments of this YT
"I thought I was going to hate it. I didn't. I'm kinda glad they chose someone so flamboyant, 'cause that was Freddie."

Justin Hawkins @justinhawkinsIt takes immense courage to step up and front the world's greatest band. @adamlambert will nail it, there's nobody better suited to the task Okay, I may have to listen/buy his next album! I am totally in love with this guy right now!!!!!!! Whoever thought, out of all his friends and peers that he has tweetd about all the time, that his most ringing endorsement would come from Justin Hawkins!! He has really stepped up and I'll bet is because he has read and heard some of these interviews!

Another comment from the You Tube of the EMTV perf:
usually don't like Adam Lambert. But I have to give him credit for respecting the band , and he also did his best at it. His unusual style is similar to (what I believe so far) Freddie Mercury's style, not saying that copying is a good thing but he kept his decency.
His voice is very resonating, I have to give him credit for that. Congratulations anyway but I do not like his extravagant style in spite of the great performance
LOL at the last sentence tho! ;D
None of the comments I saw were that bad.

Okay, am I just too close to it to see it? What is so "flamboyant" about that performance?
He's all in black, he's practically in the dark, he stalks around but that's about it...yes, the vocal pyrotechnics are spectacular, but it's all quite alpha male, in my book.
Or should I stop assuming that every time someone says "flamboyant" they mean swishy?
Regardless, glad for a convert.

Ok guys...so I was listening to Ryan Seacrest this morning and he had an interview with Pharrell. It turns out the Pharrell just happens to be in charge of the Oscar music this year. Just sayin...

Wonder whether those metal reporters earlier are reading Justin Hawkins twitter? They were so in awe of The Darkness, yet at least one guy was quite uncertain about Adam. Those tweets may influence them a bit, I would hope. When Queen and Adam are doing their prep-concerts in Moscow a lot more people are going to check out any youtube videos should they show up. That will probably define the debate for Knebworth prior to the concert quite a bit. I have been observing both the Queen fan sites as well as comment sections in UK press quite a bit recently and notice that prior to the official announcement, when all the speculation was going on, there was a lot of disrespectful debate to be found. Now that the announcement has happened, I am noticing a distinct change in tone. There is more respect, less mocking, they are cautiously adjusting. Whether that is because now people are actually checking out Adam's videos, whether this is because we now find more heavy-weight reporters and Queen fans weighing in vs. some silly homophobes pretending to be Queen fans earlier, I don't know exactly, but the difference is startling. The posts along the lines of "he is just a talent show kid" have become significantly less frequent, recently. I think we just need to give people a bit of time to adjust to the new information, check things out, form their own opinion. For many, especially in the UK, this is the first they have ever heard of Adam Lambert. Due to some earlier post here, I walked over to AO today to log in. I can still log in there just fine, the Facebook link was only needed to do this voting game. By the way, for those who have followed the discussion recently on Queenonline, Michael Allred has started a post over on AO. Interesting. Rabbit, I saw your really good response. Pretty much everything has been said already, so I did not respond anymore. Fanbases meeting on another online. ETA: One local radio station WNNK is now playing BTIKM! Have not heard it yet, but saw it announced as coming up and then had to leave......grrrrrr...so I missed it, but yeah! So true! And Rabbit Rabbit I love your response on AO. I hope you don't mind my bringing it over. "rabbitrabbit: Re: What do you think of Queen fans bashing Lambert? On a bored evening recently I read through those Queenonline forum threads about Sonisphere. They were saying the place was busy because they had 70 or so posters logged in. The most negative posters were commenting again and again, magnifying their gripe. Many posters said that they weren't planning to go anyway, regardless of the singer, and it seemed like the most negative posters were unhappy with almost everything Queen had done since Freddie passed decades ago. In spite of that in the newer posts, more members seemed to be coming to terms with the idea as other members argued the merits. When we look at the fact that AO has about 500 fans online at any one moment, and is one of many many adam fan communities, (another one I frequent has about 250 members online each day, and 3,000-4,000 other viewers), it gives you a sense of how small that particular pool of Queen Online fans is compared to us, and the larger Queen fanbase as a whole. On another Adam site there are already more than 50 members who have bought Sonisphere tickets for example. So basically I ended up feeling a little sorry for that particular forum, and the blustering and hair-pulling in the "purist" rock fan and Queen fan world makes very little difference because those Sonisphere tickets are very likely to sell out regardless of the complaining of a small portion of Queen fans who really weren't planning to make the effort to go anyway. I think there are plenty of Queen fans who are okay with, or enthusiastic about the idea. I've heard the Sonisphere forums are general positive on the idea, although I haven't checked myself. For hardcore 'Freddie or no one' fans, I empathize, and think the antipathy really has little to do with Adam. A different singer would fall short for them in different ways, but would still fall short in their eyes." www.adamofficial.com/us/node/2122877

Well, you can understand their viewpoint, because Freddie was so low-key and dignified.

Ok I think they need to open their Sonis perf with The Show Must Go On...kinda as a message to the haterz to be like YEAH THE MUSIC IS GONNA BE PLAYED WHETHER U LIKE IT OR NOT SO GTFO and then go into an amazing more uptempo, tear the roof off the mother rock number.
