OK, now I am going to ask something that will possibly stir a negative reaction, so either skip or keep in mind that I am trying to understand the psychology behind these kind of statements: So, yesterday Adam got annoyed (very rightfully so) at thoughtless remarks he receives...I understand all of it except for these two statements - in bold: That's me. Its not something you should have to look past. Look right at it. It's fabulous. Gay is fierce. Be proud with me!!!!What does this mean? I am trying to relate by saying "being straight is fabulous. Straight is fierce" - how does this sound? Does it make any sense to you? Is it just a super defensive stance? Is it something one says being in the heat of this argument? Am I just over-analyzing everything Adam says? I am more than proud with him and of him! But in this case - my comprehension fails me :-[ Nica, I think you raise a good point. It would be silly for me to walk around saying I'm fabulous for being straight. The thing is though, Adam is talking about a minority population that is (to a large extent) dismissed, demeaned, and disempowered by the majority. In the U.S., gay people don't have equal rights, they are subjected to stereotyping, bashing, and bullying. The very word "gay" is used as an insult. In a situation like this, it gets to a point where the minority rises up in defiance. The idea of gay pride is publicly making a statement that not only is there nothing wrong with being gay, but that it is a good thing. Adam's words are just a variation of "we're here, we're queer, get used to it," which is to say don't ignore what we are-- accept us for what we are. I think a good analogy is the Black Power and Black Pride movements, which was another situation of the minority telling society that there is nothing wrong with being Black and that it is something to be proud of. It's important for a minority group to feel a sense of pride in their identity in order for them to fight for equality.

These are good numbers -- but I want to add one more important REALLY GOOD number -- 51 Monitored HAC stations played BTIKM in the past 7 days -- and they played it an average of 10.6 times each up 2.0 from last week when it was 8.6. 31 31 29 ADAM LAMBERT Better Than I Know M... 19/RCA 2011 626 509 117 51 10.6 8.6 +2.0 If Avg. I adored the SNOL chat! It came so close to that dream of having a personal chat with Adam. His unflinching openness and honesty shines through no matter the circumstance. With all his talents, he remains humble.
It somehow made NoAngel's wonderful essay all the more powerful and personal this morning. Especially this: "The fire is in Adam's belly, not in the star towards which he reaches. He flies, not with borrowed wings, but under his own power, fueled by his own passion. If he misses the mark he blames no one but himself and wears his singed wings as a badge of honor."
Loved your dragon for NoAngel, Lynneville! We all need one of those to keep up with him these days!
Yay for new updates this morning. Go BTIKM, go!!!

I think that Adam is an excellent dancer on par with most global pop stars -- and well above the average Idol contestant, I still do not understand why he said that -- but maybe he could not think of anything else? Cause in my "completely unbiased opinion" he was pretty much perfect on Idol. I agree. I wondered whether it had to do with the fact that it was the dynamics of the whole group that made it akward for him? No matter how I say this it will sound like a slam against Paula but maybe it seemed awkward because the choreography was underwhelming.

I post rarely but I am here everyday for the Adam news and to read all of your thoughts.
NoAngel, I just wanted to say what a beautiful and touching essay you have written.
To everyone else here that posts so often, thank you for your time. Usually, by the time, I get my thoughts together someone has said exactly and even better what I would like to say.
My thoughts on what Adam said about the "why r u gay" I am sure the person did not actually mean it in that way but I assume he gets really tired of it and maybe, he just took it wrong as we all are capable of doing in given situations. The way I read it was "why differentiate" Be proud with me. Whether gay or straight don't ask why. Maybe he felt by saying "gay is fierce" some kid who is struggling will be given courage. Of course, my view is that everyone deserves love, respect, and equality. I hope that I have made a minute amount of sense with this post. If not, please feel free to sweep under the rug. Hugs!!!
