If you have not seen this in the main thread, there is something that is SO pertinent to our discussion. Rob Cosby of Digital Spy gave a lukewarm review to BTIKM when it came out. He posted a REVISED review taking it back after living with the song for awhile. It is so worthwhile reading what he had to say. It tells me this song will eventually make it - perhaps not fast enough to launch Trespassing the way we would like and hence the need for a second single but it will not be a loser. I am not so good at embedding so here is the link to copy paste. Go to page 19 on the main thread. www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/singlesreviews/a370320/adam-lambert-better-than-i-know-myself-single-review.html

I just want to add that a lot of the distress over this single is that the many in the fandom thought that any song that Adam put out was going to go racing up the charts and smash. That only happens to superstars, and as much as we love him, he is not a superstar yet. I truly believe that is why there is so much anger and worry. We were very unrealistic and set our own selves up in a way. I'm sad that Adam may be reading all the unhappiness about his song on twitter and the fandom angst. I agree that expectations might have been too high. I think of Adam as a superstar - can't help it even though I realize in the real world he is not there yet. I doubt he is reading this thread lol & I would hate it if we could not post our true feelings because of any infinitesimal chance that he might see it. I would NEVER post anything angsty on twitter tho. Different story. Besides I'm not unhappy at all!!!!!!! And now - CUCKOO for the next single! Cuckoo for the AI performance! Love it & this time I don't think it's unrealistic to think it will race up the CHR chart! This is perfect POP!

It's not for everyone ,but it's sure one of my favorites. IMHO I believe that Adam and Adele are raising the bar in popular music. They are both artists, story tellers. Adam will have his day and it won't be far off, after Queen and Adam, the sky.

The vibe of Chokehold is amazing! And it sounds SO current. If RCA wanted to open with something mid-tempo, I don't know why they didn't go with this.
I haven't read the Rob Cosby thing yet, but I have always thought BTIKM is a grower. The "trouble" with this type of song is that it needs A LOT of radio support to work. And I am not quite sure if the song will be given that chance.

Speaking of numbers, LOL, ever since I saw this week's sales numbers from Brian Mansfield I have been tracking Carrie's song Cowboy Casanova. BTIKM has been 10-40 ahead of it. So, I should be able to post a good approximation of sales for BTIKM. If BTIKM starts to move up higher (and I am sure it will after VH1 tomorrow) I will look for an Idol Country tune that is close to it. Wish I had thought of this sooner. We could have been tracking approximate sales much better.

Does anyone else think BTIKM will get another bump over the weekend if it makes that video countdown show again? I think it will, and hope that will keep the slow climb going a while longer (added to effect of Adam's "goodwill" radio tour).

BTIKM seems to be doing very well in other countries. Adam is an International star.. so what appeals to us in the U.S. may not appeal to others and visa versa . I love the song and IMHO, the video is a potential classic.. music is very subjective. I do believe that we expect an A plus on all that Adam sings. BTW,He's one of the very few singers, who actually cares about each song on his album.. Many others have one or two good songs and the rest are fillers. BTIKM is not doing well in other countries. It is doing well in Japan. We have posted this information several times. I agree with you that music is very subjective, but charts and itunes are facts and statistics.

OK I want to see how it's doing in Finland,South Africa, Russia, Greece etc. I know I'm not crazy. Does anyone have a score card on the overseas plays?
