CHR from Pulse59 62 LAMBERT, ADAM Better Than I Know Myself 263 271 -8 0.736 It is down 8 spins from last week. i-Tunes Pop #134 Overall #444 ETA: I just noticed something interesting about the AI for CHR. It is up, even though spins are down. What does that mean? It probably means a small station stopped spinning it, with more spins than a big station that is spinning it with less spins. So, if that big station picks up its spins this week, like Boston, this drop could be a one week thing. Here is the AI from last week: .649 this week: .736 +.087

Folks - in the last few posts of the previous thread you were talking about Bruno's song as the new single. Was it just speculation or did some new info is out?
...cause I really, really, REALLY want an Adam song to be the next single. for so many reasons!... to list a few: 1)He will never get the needed cred as a songwriter if they keep using someone else's singles, 2) his songs are WAAAY better than any other songs on the FYE 3) I am sick of hearing how incredible " insert name" during the promos 4) I hate the "safe" stuff that sounds like everything else (aka BTKIM for my ears) (ya... it is all about ME)...
I really want to see the "flying up the charts" for once... BB so deserves it!

nica, we are just speculating because of some circumstantial evidence. Adam went back in the studio to work on a song that he clearly was not going to put on the album in his end of January interviews. And the demo has been pulled from You Tube. But, no one knows nuttin!

No one cares that Stronger isn't a song that she doesn't have co writing credits on. It is #1 in several countries and in the US and it is helping her sell 80-100K a month of albums in the middle of the winter. I would rather have something like that than a co write that might struggle on the charts. This really isn't the time to take chances. If they put out another single that does the same as this first one, we could see the album pushed back for a few months. I want them to put out a single that will get significant Pop play, the rest of the details about the song don't matter to me! It doesn't matter who writes the song or who sings/raps on part of it or what the song is about, it just NEEDS to be a Pop hit! |

I actually have no idea which one of them does write (aside from gaga, Adele, TS and Pink)... I do hear this argument from EVERY friend of my kids and other young people around me re Adam - and I am sick of it! (I personally think that being a SINGER of Adam's caliber is more than enough - so, this point is actually contrary to my own view of the world so to speak). you got me to try and listen to Kelly's Stronger - another run of the mill tune - it sells? great! then why isn't BTIKM selling? why isn't it getting significant POP play? sounds EXACTLY the same to me... He needs to establish his own sound... his own MUSICAL identity - aside from "gay", "fashion crazy" and other such nonsense... the whole situation feels to me like his genius is bound by chains of the mediocre, spoon-fed-mass-consumption tastes and he MUST get out of them! take the fucking risk! ...ok... i'll stop ranting... nica, we are just speculating because of some circumstantial evidence. I agree with Tigerlily (seriously, you have saved me so much typing over time, my fingers thank you you ) Nica, IMHO your first four reasons are about your preferences, and that's fine, I share some of them. But they don't necessarily lead to "I really want to see the "flying up the charts" for once... BB so deserves it!" All the things you listed apply to WWFM as well, he didn't write it, it was my least favorite song on FYE on the first few listens, it was a 'safe and similar' sounding song. BTIKM isn't done doing it's thing yet, in the US and definitely overseas (a top 10 hit in Japan is nothing to sneeze at, they are the second largest music market in the world.) I'd love to also hear more about how it's doing in Germany (the third largest market). I think it's likely that single 2 will be dancey, and that's great. But other than that, we haven't heard finished versions of any of the songs in contention, and TPTB and Adam have, and presumably are testing them, so what do we really have to base things on at this point? ETA: I'll just throw something else out there, what if, of all the single options, BTIKM was the one that best showcased Adam's voice and that's a big part of why they wanted to lead with it? |

See this is where the fact that Adam kind of straddles the Pop/Rock star thing causes problems. Pop stars are not expected to write their own songs and not doing so doesn't hurt their credibility. But Rock Stars ARE expected to write their own material. I don't think radio gives a shit either way but this is something that the actual hardcore fans are much more concerned with than the general public. But the important thing really is how the media sees it because like it or not the general buying public pretty much believes what they are told. The media calls him a superstar consistently enough that GP is going to simply take it as a given. If the media calls him Singer/Songwriter which they have done more and more lately then GP is going to believe it. The biggest benefit of him having writing credit is monetary but I suspect that as Executive Producer he is probably getting extra royalty points so that may not be as huge a deal as it would be otherwise. We will never really know.
The main reason I'm not worried about the fact that the Bruno song is suddenly making the album is entirely due to Adam's demeanor in the radio interviews. Something apparently changed enough with the song that he is visibly excited about it. Adam is an open book and as much as he verbally supported WWFM and even IIHY he was NEVER as excited about them as he seems to be about this track and most of the tracks on this album. I would go so far as to say he has shown much more excitement about this Bruno track in the last weeks or so than he has about BTIKM. Maybe he will end up with a co-write but even if he doesn't something has obviously gotten him fired up about the track. It could be getting Dr. Luke on the production or it could be the opportunity to actually have Bruno there in studio when he did the vocals. The thing is we know that the song actually has been around for a while so the "new thing coming in" would have to have been either getting Dr. Luke on the production or the opportunity to actually have in studio time with Bruno. At least one of the UK peeps got to hear either a demo or a rough cut of the song and liked it as much as Trespassing and Cuckoo. So it wasn't the song itself coming in at the last minute it was something else connected to the song.
