WOW
I loooooove Cuckoo! LOVE IT LOVE IT! I love chokehold! Tresspassing is awesome! THE NEW ALBUM IS AWESOME! It's got THE COOLest groove. So excited.
I'm so happy! I can't tell you how happy it made me to watch Adam performing Cuckoo! I have to admit something--there was a time where I was a teeny bit worried about Album 2, not from any perspective other than my own selfish one. But in the Before Pharrel era (I think of everything as Before Pharrel and After Pharrel, lol), when all the talk was of real, understated, organic, honest Adam, I must admit to little moments of mourning for the ridiculous campy Adam. *smacks myself* I was a FOOL. I shoulda known betta. (Hell, Cuckoo probably even came from the BP era. :
We all know Adam can emote the heck out of songs like Outlaws of Love and BTIKM. And it is wonderful to watch him do it, it really is. But I love me some hammy-Adam, I TOTES LOVE HAMMY ADAM, and to watch him ham it up there on stage with Cuckoo just made me soo soo happy. You know that moment (of course you do) where Adam is so completely ridic that he cracks himself up and breaks out of the pose to give us all a goofy grin? Well, that moment is alive and well in the Trespassing era. HOORAY!
Cuckoo is so damn fun. It's a shitty recording (although MAJA props to the recorders
) and not a single person in the room had heard the song before (other than the band) and yet even that first snippet before bed last night had a sing-along quality to it, and today's vids, for me, are quite spectacularly accessible and fun. This song includes you in it's party. I love a good song that includes you in its party (hell, I even love a crap song that includes you in its party, and this ain't a crap song in the least.)
I do hope it's the next single. I'm sure the Bruno Mars song will sound terrific, but this is something I want for Adam--His own song, that speaks so much of him (though I'm sure he'll OWN the Bruno song), and that invites us all into his party. I see this song having the kind of success that Party in the USA and Party Rock Anthem have (to compare it to two songs I like far less). People love music that wants them to be happy. And all I've heard is a shitty-ass recording. Imagine what the album version sounds like!!
ps--what kind of balls does it take to play a bunch of unfamiliar songs to a room of mostly newbies and to sell it the way Adam is selling it?--Boy was
WORKING WERKING HARD out there! And he blew that room away. Respect.
