If the theory is true about BTIKM and RCA's deal with Dr. Luke/Claude, then I hope they learned their lesson (fat chance). I love BTIKM and the video is my favorite thing in the whole world ... but it hasn't burned up the charts like I hoped.
Adam apparently wanted Cuckoo and his instincts were good.
Q3 and others would know more than I but from what I have read, the artist and executive producer have input in meetings but no say as to the singles. That is a decision that is 100% controlled by the label.
We've tried it RCA's way and so far ... reminds me of the story about how back in the 1960s Joan Baez was signed by a major label (forget which one) and they assigned her to Mitch Miller as a producer.
Let's try it Adam's way for the next go-round.

Chokehold might be my favorite Adam Lambert song (now nearly crying that this was not the single:( It is such a superior song on every level.) What do we know about this song? Who is the writer?
I do love all three. Maybe RCA will surprise us and release Cuckoo or Trespassing as the next single. Maybe NCOE is their all-important "safety back-up."

I'm also addicted to Chokehold. And it may be, imo, the most current sounding song I have heard Adam sing. The whole song is a hook! If they wanted mid-tempo, this should have been the song to lead things off (really trying not to dwell on something we can't change) I agree and I have LOVED BTIKM from the first time I heard it. But this song is more repetitive and hooky for the current Pop audience. I think there was some kind of deal with Luke and Claude. ETA: Also, someone back in the thread asked about how high IIHY got on the Pop charts and I am pretty sure it made it to #16. It defintiley broke Top 20. Yes - IIHY #16 on Billboard Pop (Mainstream Top 40 Radio Airplay), #30 on Billboard Hot 100. WWFM -- #10 Billboard Hot 100, #12 Billboard Pop, #2 Billboard Adult Pop (basically HAC Radio Airplay)

For Chokehole, its super sexy as hell. I found him mixtures of George Michael, Justin Timberlake and Jordon Knight. And Adam is the best and sexiest of all with a killer voice. Gosh, I am so freaking happy about album already and my heart want to explode to the universe!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

I love the BTIKM vid but felt the song lacked the audience connection on Ellen/Leno performances to create legions of new fans or reignite old ones. Chokehold makes it past my hearing loss and thrillingly resonates like Sleepwalker does - it was always my fav. on FYE. Haven't been able to get Trespassing out of mental replay since first time the vid snippet came up. That song makes me happy! Can't really hear Cuckoo - but maybe will when better sound available. Exciting days!!!

I agree on Chokehold - that one is really special and his voice just shines. Cuckoo and Trespassing are fun and peppy, but of the two, I think I would pick Trespassing as his next single - it's got the beat and the lyrics are bad ass with Adam telling it like it is.
I'm so impressed with Adam's energy and work ethic on these current promo visits. At each stop everyone gets something special from him, and he always appears gracious, kind, and down to earth. Also the local performances such as in Atlanta with his full band are getting him exposed to audiences beyond his core fan base - it's all to the good.

Let's try it Adam's way for the next go-round. For almost all major label artists the label puts up all the money and they pick the singles. (Then the label charges everything to the artist.) There may have been a deal for BTIKM but that would have only been made if RCA A&R thought BTIKM was going to be a bit hit -- they really want Adam to be successful. RCA and Adam have certainly have worked hard to get BTIKM airplay and it is doing really well on HAC. BTIKM is a good song (although I think it is somewhat "hookless") and Adam's vocal is flawless, but it is the comparison that is so striking to me. These three new songs are just that much better, that much more current and they have major hooks. So I like BTIKM -- but I love Adam and his music. NO MATTER WHAT I THINK OF BTIKM AND RCA'S STRATEGY, I WILL CONTINUE TO REQUEST IT -- BECAUSE ANY ADAM SONG IS BETTER THAN MOST OF WHAT IS ON THE RADIO.
