Down the rabbit hole once again, watching the Jezebel performance of the new songs, and then the EMAs one more time. What struck me this time was how absolutely enthralled ADAM is with singing and performing for an audience. It's obvious to me that this is what he lives for. This is his drug, his high, his completion. He commits himself totally in that moment, that phrase, that soaring note, that funky beat, that tender, vulnerable passage. He gives his all, the audience takes it in, revels in it, and returns it to him. I am reminded of how he finished the "fill in the blank." "Music is ____" He responded, "Music is air." Essential to his being, his existence. There was a brief dance moment in Chokehold, I think, where he did a move that I recognized. I had seen child Adam do the same move in the home movie of his lipsyncing to something. He has been preparing for this his whole life. Certainly, this is a powerful part of Adam's appeal as a performer. We can't help but get swept up in his consuming joy and passion. He makes us want to listen to music again.... or at least HIS music. His performance. You are so right about the dance move. I saw it and it made me wonder what seemed so old/new about it. I realize what it was now that you've pointed it out. Also, so precious, today when someone asked him if he was interested in writing a book and he replied, "can I sing it?" Singing and performing are his core -- and, it passes thru him to his audience. Remember his vocal coach who said he would come in to a lesson frustrated or upset and ask her if he could sing his feelings?

My second post ever is to tell you guys that I finally heard Better Than I Know Myself on San Diego radio on Sophie radio -- billed as Adam Lambert, our hometown boy. So odd that he isn't played all over the SD radio -- not even on our Star station. Thanks for sharing and glad you de-lurked.

I am 100% certain Adam wanted a Bonnie/Ollie Gee song as the lead single. He wrote on those songs, and he feels proud of them. Plus, he would benefit more financially if they hit. I'm pretty sure that he wants one of his own songs to be the next single as well. The label picked BTIKM. He says there are four songs in contention for the next single. One is probably NCOE. He probably thinks that is a good song, but also wants to see if one of his own songs is the best to push for along side that one, and so he decided to perform and play a few of them to feel the audience reaction to them. That would also be information he could take back as a talking point in the decision making process. Like MyS*&@^#r, I don't think Adam changed his dress and style to meet an RCA "safer image" goal. I think he didn't want to box himself in to one style or into to having to be over the top in one glittery way for the rest of his career, and I think that is smart. I also think he is feeling good about how he looks and is enjoying letting that be center just now. However, I do think that Adam lost the lead single battle, or made compromises about it, or let himself be talked into the idea at the very least. Then, the decision a done deal, I think he jumped on board behind it with all he had to use it as an introduction to the dark and light sides of the album. And he made a kick ass video to breathe more life into the song. Adam is very good at playing the game. Those of us watching idol could see that. Those of us who have followed his every move since then can see how he maximizes opportunities and turns setbacks into the best opportunities he can create. I love this about him. It is that quality, combined with his incredible talent and charisma, that will keep him going and that will continue to bring him success by one path or another. Adam is a risk taker, and though he often says he is impulsive in the moment, I bet when it comes to dealing with RCA, he plans his every move. They may have hold of one of his hands, but I'm pretty sure he stretches the other hand outside of the box as far as he is able, points enthusiastically to all that is out there and lets smiling pied piper light Adam try to take them to places they don't even know they want to go. I hope he succeeds sooner than later. I hope he succeeds with the next single. But for me, and so many other of his fans, he succeeded a long time ago, and living outside of the box with him, musically, momentarily, is an exhilarating trip that leads us (happily) right down the rabbit hole we all (obviously) love so very much. album WOW Lynne, you really summed up what I think and try to say but don't have the right words. Bravo, I SO agree with the whole post and thoughts!!! ^^^^This. Lovely post lynne.

Tommy is a quiet guy. Pretty shy. Just not the same personality as Kevin. Obviously from Kevin's own videos and tweets he is more outgoing. I love them both and as long as they play well and are good to Adam, for me, that's all that counts. Exactly !! Plus, if Tommy was happy and outgoing and staring at Adam and smiling -I can just imagine the crazies on one side going - see Tommy is smiling at Adam because he is Adam's true love, and the crazies on the other side going - Tommy is trying to steal Adam from poor Sauli, look how he smiles and stares at Adam, why doesn't he just focus on playing the guitar : ??? :-/ Well said. ;D
