The singer was asked at a special fan get-together in Boston, MA whether he thought the US would be ready for a music video with a gay love interest. He conceded that he doesn't think the country is ready yet - and said he is trying to balance his fans with his dissenters. He said: " I don't think they're ready. I think my fans are for sure. I think unfortunately the way things are, especially in this country, is that if someone doesn't like something, they're a lot louder than the people who like it. So sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to create that much of a problem because I feel like that problem will prevent my career and things from moving forward, so I'm trying to keep the balance right now, and I think that's the best thing that I can possibly do - is to make small baby steps, but not freak out the people that have the very loud negative voices."
He concluded: "I don't want to prevent my creativity and my art from reaching you guys by trying to prove a point, so it's a very sensitive thing."more..

Sometimes I think that the fans who are clamoring for Adam to have a male love interest in a video at this point in time are just thinking about what they want - not what is best for Adam's longterm career. He is just establishing himself now as a mainstream artist. IMO, that kind of video would just do more harm than good - push him down in the gay box and close the lid. He is still so relatively new to the music scene - let him get firmly established first. He will know when, or if, the time is right for that kind of "in your face" move. |

Diff Topic: Guys, I've been looking at Seoulmate's beautiful water avi, and something occurred to me. We've been wondering how to make Adam aware of the final CharityWater push and maybe even get him to tweet about it: if we could get as many fans as possible to change their twitter avi's to water-related avi's for the final few days (maybe the countdown of last 10, as Q3 suggested) he's bound to notice, and I'd wager, respond. And because twitter is such a viral medium, it may not be so hard to get the mad masses to join in. I say this totally aware that I sound like a fool, by the way, cause I have no twitter account and thus no twitter avi and so won't be changing one damn thing, but I'd be with ya in spirit! I know its a ways away yet, but just something to think about.
