Precisely. Its called preventative compensation. Like during GNT when his voice was feeling "iffy" so he would throw in a few more hip rolls and back off of the high notes. He KNOWS he's got a grueling schedule and that there are times to push, and times to back off so he can keep on schedule. {shrug} IMO, I think he's just doing what's best to keep everything rolling for long-term. My first thought was that Adam was offering an excuse to politely back out of the after-party. BINGO!!!  |

He KNOWS he's got a grueling schedule and that there are times to push, and times to back off so he can keep on schedule. {shrug} IMO, I think he's just doing what's best to keep everything rolling for long-term. My first thought was that Adam was offering an excuse to politely back out of the after-party. Me, too. We don't know what happened, really, and the intern was obviously so into Kevin that we cannot rely on what she said. But my take is 1) Adam takes assiduous care of his voice. He doesn't obsess about it, but have we ever seen him at a gig without a bottle of water? And multiple times he has said, "Drink lots of water and get lots of sleep." 2) Adam is working. All these promo gigs are just that --- work. The daily grind. He is carrying the load. The other band members can party until dawn, and then sleep on the plane going back home after just a couple of gigs. Adam goes on a grueling whirlwind tour of radio stations, talking to the bosses, the DJs, the secretaries, the fans, singing a couple of songs where his voice is very vulnerable. He's relying on his voice all day, every day. Taking care of it needs to be a top priority. 3) There may have been lots of alcohol there, but, Adam isn't drinking that much these days. He is enjoying a healthy lifestyle. And, even previously while on tour, he didn't drink a lot while working because alcohol dries out his throat and his vocal cords. 4) The "party like a rock star thing?" Been there; done that. He is now in a very happy, monogamous relationship, and I don't think he would compromise that for a roll in the sack with a groupie. (No offense meant to the intern or Kevin.) 5) Adam continues to work with a vocal coach from time to time. He has a mentor to keep him on the right track vocally. He is acknowledging his unique voice and featuring it prominently in these promos --- going as far as to sing without amplification to prove what he can do. Adam KNOWS the voice is his ticket. He's not about to trash it. Those are my thoughts on the matter. |
