I agree, mys*&@^#r. Honestly, I think being off Idol is, perhaps, his biggest challenge at the moment. They don't take the "reality show artists" seriously, and they really don't want the fanbases. I don't care who it is. I actually think there is such reality show fatigue right now that some stations are actively looking to NOT play these singers.
And, while I don't think it has to do with being gay, I do think some stations find him "weird" and he is actively trying to fix that misconception.

I may be a minority of one, but I do not believe the resistance to Adam on radio is totally due to homophobia. I think Adam, as a black swan, as an outlier, makes some folks vaguely uncomfortable. They like to put people in boxes, neatly labeled and categorized, and Adam doesn't fit into any of their boxes. Adam said it himself recently. "I don't sound like other pop singers." Never were truer words spoken. That voice is like no other. His songs, too, are not totally out there, but aren't the cookie cutter variety of interchangeable tunes. Then, his appearance is puzzling to folks. Rock band members have long since worn make-up. That's nothing new. But, they also wear grunge clothes and have rather mangy hair. Adam, even in jeans and a t-shirt, looks like a fashion plate; movie star striking, runway model chic, with an air of almost royalty. Adam is also sophisticated, classy, and, for top 40, maybe too old? Somehow, he just doesn't "fit" with what PDs and DJs think of as a male pop star. The gayness is just one aspect.
I also don't think RCA or his management company have figured out how to break thru this barrier and market him correctly. These radio tours are wonderful for the fans, to be sure. And everyone who hears him sing live, and meets him, and hears his lilting laughter, and sees him interact with everyone so masterfully is mightily impressed by Adam --- but I don't think it does anything to help them fit him into a safe box suitable for radio play. I am afraid the PDs and DJs come away thinking, "One of the nicest guys in the business..... but he doesn't fit our format or our demographic."
At this point, I am almost resigned to Adam having to fight his way for acceptance on radio and in pop music. I think he will continue to get more accolades and praise from the industry. But his unique qualities, which we love so dearly, make him difficult to sell to the masses. I firmly believe, tho', that in the long run, he will earn a place in the music business as a transformative, once in a generation artist. There will come a time when he is an icon in every way, and people will be saying "there has never been and never will be another like him" as they do about Elvis, the Beatles, and Freddie. He will have a place in history, but, it will take time -- maybe as much as a generation, for that to happen.
On the plus side, he IS successful, he IS earning many wonderful opportunities, he IS making wonderful music for us, and he IS happy. We WILL be able to enjoy him for years to come. And, ultimately, we will be able to say to the world, "I told you so!!!"

Some Q&A and WWFM You'll have to tell us if one of the questions was yours, Hoopla!! Nope. Here's the KC scoop, what little I know of it. He flew in from Chicago last night and stayed at an airport hotel. He didn't even get to see a smidgen of KC--and I really think it's a beautiful city. (City of Fountains, Plaza area, Westport, Jazz District, Loose Park, boulevards, etc.) He was at 93.3 between 5-7am. 9REALLY? Pics/vids or it didn't happen--but they had a radio contest--I haven't seen a thing so far tonight on that promo stop, though...? A girl from Chicago/RCA flew in and drove him from KC to 105.9KissFM in Lawrence, KS (1 1/2 hrs from KC, MO.) They almost got lost--but he really wasn't late. I talked to her during the meet and greet. Nice, regular, dressed-down 25-30ish gal. Said I can't believe how lucky you are to ride with him and Tommy in a car for three hours today. She just laughed and said "Yeah, I know!" Then tonight he was somewhere? in KC for the 99.7ThePoint gig. THAT is where you're seeing the vids from. Not the one I was at. My thing in Lawrence--105.9 has posted pics, but I've found no vid yet anywhere. But haven't been on twitter much yet. Going there right now, though! I will be behind AGAIN tomorrow, so if anyone finds anymore video from any of these KC area stops, could you please PM me with a page # or a twitter name to look up, pretty please? BTW, M and T have iphones and could have recorded, but didn't want to. They think he doesn't like it, and they really prefer being "present in the moment." I would have--and did START to record Q&A--until she said "HOOPLA--WHERE ARE YOU?" Then I dropped my $20 camera. And kept it in my purse after that. It is truly useless anyway. So happy you got to meet Adam. Made the trip back worthwhile

I could very well have mis-remembered what A said about where his mom lives...weird, though, because I know she moved to LA a couple of years ago, so not sure why I think he said SF...but I think I probably just don't remember correctly. And Lynne, I hope your young man starts making choices FOR himself and BY himself as soon as he can--Adam ALWAYS seems to mention finding a supportive community--and I simply could not stand living around people who thought I was a sinner or a deviant because of my orientation. I'll bet he feels a lot better when he finally lives around accepting people at some point. Good that he at least recognizes acceptance from you... I hope he does as well. Adam, for all he admits to having dark and unsure moments, reminds me more of my own kids, all of whom are very independent and free thinking, sometimes more than we wanted them to be growing up, LOL. Adam left home right away and dropped out of college against his father's wishes even though it meant supporting himself and living with cockroaches. . He goes after things; he is a fighter, probably by both nature and nurture. This kid is a more dreamy, poetic type... deep and sensitive but quiet and less of a fighter, more "in" and less aggressive in nature. Adam, fortunately, didn't have to fight for his right to be himself inside his family. This kid will have to do that, and I can't even imagine how hard that kind of thing is, being straight myself, and coming, myself, from a very open minded family system, one more like Adam's. The thing is, he will need to be ready to do that. I can't give him that readiness. I can't even know what is right for him to do. The answers are too complex and individual. He needs to figure them out for himself. All I can do is support and listen and validate and love and let him know I am here for him and that he is safe with me. I wish I could do more.

I didn't know Leila went out with Sauli and his sisters!! How fun!! Yes, she's in the pic that was in the blog, next to Sauli. She looked really small so it was hard to recognize her at first. www.saulikoskinen.net/2012/03/siskot/ mys*&@^#r Susie Here is a big picture from their night out And also I think in this picture , it looks like Adam's car and probably Leila is driving, not sure though.

Hoopla in that twitlonger, she said he talked about his OOFTA tatoo. Do you remember what he said? That was from the 99.7 show tonight--which I wish I'd tried to go to, but that's the one they supposedly held at a ~sekrit location, so no one could find it unless they had tix. So now I wanna hear/see what he said about the Oofta tattoo! And Willow, if you can, JUST GO even if you don't win tix! The marketing director/guardian of the "winners" list was a bear at first, then said I could put my name on a list, in case, but don't count on it! I was just nice and friendly and said I'd be patient and hope--then I visited with her sweetie daughter (the one who asked the Bieber question)--then I went to the bathroom, and M and T came in screaming and jumping up and down and said "They said you could go in!!" We left the bathroom and the little girl came bouncing up to me with my VIP pass/necklace and I gave her a huge hug--she seemed as happy as I was that they let me in. SO SHOW UP--MAYBE YOU'LL GET LUCKY TOO!! Melliemom, Adam asked if he knew the guy who attacked him, and he did--he said they found out who he was, reported him to the police, and that they were following up. He started tearing up again in the foyer after the whole thing when I talked to him, and I said, awww, you need a hug--hugged him and said I hope ADAM'S hug made you feel better today--he said Yes, it did--and I got a SUE HIS ASS from him! (You really would not believe how sweet Adam was. Wait--yes, y'all would. 'Cause you KNOW what a kind person he is.) AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR THANKS! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS TO ME TO HAVE THIS PLACE TO COME TO--WHERE I CAN SHARE MY EXCITEMENT AND MY JOY! ILH--and YOU GUYS--SFM (And with luck, thx to Q and her amazing team, I'll catch up on everything else I missed today!) Did anyone do a plain Adam Lambert twitter search today? I KNOW some of the peeps in Lawrence took pics/some vids--I just don't know them online, so can't look up their stuff. :-/ Dear Hoopla1.. Thanks so much for seeing my concern and letting me know about that horrible beating incident. I feel relieved that it was reported to the police. Adam will always remember you,how lucky to have such a meaningful exchange with him. As far as the radio business, it totally stinks, sounds like whoever(label?) gives the station(Clear channel?) the most in something, money, favors, etc. gets on the air.. still a form of patronage. There has to be a better way of getting talented artists to be heard. Really appreciate YOUTUBE right now.So happy Adam was so honest ,takes a lot of the guess work out of our constant,WTF conversations about radio play. I still think we should keep requesting, voting ,etc. even more so. An important way for Adam to be recognized and to keep his name out front. I'm more determined than ever. Thanks for your great insight and thanks for sharing your wonderful day with us. major Hugs.. To add I really think that the album coming out closer to when Adam appears with Queen is the best publicity for Adam's new album. So I'm not angsting ,even thought I want Trespassing in my hot little hands.
