but, but, but....none of Adam-written songs are boring...this one is...like BTIKM... :-[ ....who would've thought that Adam choosing his second single would be so nerve-wracking ;D ... I need to find my zennnnnn.... ;D ;D ;D That's why we're so far apart on this. I LOVE BTIKM. Love it!!! I really love BTIKM too. And the more I listen to these songs, the more I love them all, LOL. I think trespassing and cuckoo maybe have a jump on me because I've heard them before and seen him do them live. I'm going to love them all. Now I am even more eager to have this album in my hands and to see him tour with it!!!!! |

I really and truly don't have a favourite yet from what I've heard. In Adam era 1 the minute I heard Fever it was my favourite and that never changed. I do like the anthemic quality of trespassing. Naked love has a nice groove. NCOE doesn't really do anything for me and is most generic of them (but then I find everything Bruno does generic).

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR SOOOOOO LONG AND LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THE SNIPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!Seriously, I'm addicted to all of them!!!! They are all so good and catchy and fun and ADAM with interesting, complex lyrics, but fun and sexy and catchy as fuck and I TOTALLY don't know which I like most. I DO have a soft spot for "Trespassing" and you're right, burrito, there are TONS of novelty songs on the radio right now that are not nearly as good as "Trespassing." (EEK!! Fireflies!!! I have blocked it out of my mind that Bonnie wrote that so *shhh* don't remind me  ) "Cuckoo" is nuts as well ;D I really like the one I listened to last, best right now. It's craziness. ;D I AM SOOOOO HAPPPEEEYYYYY!!!!     so, are you happy?    YEP!!!  |

Wow, I like all these songs. I was disappointed in NCOE at first, but on repeated listens, it is growing on me. I like Naked Love, but like the ohhh part and the verse better than the chorus if that makes any sense. I agree 200 percent that it shouldn't be the next single however. I can't imagine the infantile DJs in my part of the country playing this without a lot of stupid homophobic "jokes.".
I absolutely adore both Trespassing and Cuckoo and have been listening to them on repeat all evening. But my single vote definitely goes to Cuckoo. It's unbelievably catchy and for what it's worth, I listened to it on repeat while running tonight and it matched my running pace perfectly in the same way that Kelly Clarkson's Stronger does. A little better actually.
I think Trespassing would be an awesome single after Cuckoo. With it's modern-day Queen feel, it would be cool if they released this around the time of the Queen concerts.
I think NCOE is too generic. It actually reminded me a bit of the remix of nal's song on first listen, just that sort of generic song aimed at the general pop market. If I thought it would get radio play, I would be all for it. But they tried going more mainstream with BTIKM and it didn't work. They have extraordinary songs in Cuckoo and Trespassng. I say they just go for it!

NCOE: To me it doesn't have a hook. Nothing immediately catchy that lodges in your mind on replay. It definitely had the dance club beat and arrangement, almost like a remix already. That might make it very playable on CHR radio, but I personally get bored with that club beat very quickly unless I am on the dance floor.
I didn't listen to the demo.... wasn't interested until and unless Adam sang it. But, I don't hear Bruno in it because Adam's vocals are so much more pleasing to me. I know Bruno is beloved, and Adam has complimented his voice. But, everything I hear is so pushed and strained, it is like he is constipated. That sound feels unpleasant to me. In contrast, Adam just floats that melody line. I guess that Bruno's voice is much more typical pop, it's familiar to the listeners, it's the way the listeners would sing the song, straining for the notes along with him. For these listeners, is Adam's voice too effortless, too pure to fit the genre? Just a thought.
Still, I am in the camp that they release the song that will go to #1, and will be played ad nauseum every 30 minutes. That will open the way for other songs that I enjoy much more.
And, in general, I always like the live versions better than the recorded ones. I greatly prefer Adam's voice au naturale rather than layered, electronically tweaked, with auto-tune added. I don't think they are using auto-tune to correct pitch with Adam, but to make it sound more like other singers in pop recordings. To perhaps "dumb down" the voice a bit? It makes it less distinctive. But, when he performs live the most they do is add a bit of delay or reverb, and just let him fly. Who knows? I might really enjoy the song in concert.

Just to add my two cents.... I really like both Trespassing and Cuckoo, but I would probably have Cuckoo released first just because it's hookier and a little more accessible. Then ...I would follow with Trespassing because then the world would be prepped for the all sorts of goodness of Trespassing from it's in your face fierceness to the clapping and bass line. I'm not wild about Naked Love and the BM song. I barely remember them. I say break down the walls with Trespassing and bring in OOL for depth and poignacy. But, who am I? Just a good cracker! ^^^^Totally agree with this plan!! I recommend if you haven't listened to Bruno sing NCOE you don't! It's not so much that this song sounds like Bruno WROTE it--but Adam doesn't change it from how Bruno SANG it. It's like identical (well, without Bruno's desperate-to-reach-the-notes-sound). In fact I am not totally sure Bruno isn't mashed in the chorus there somewhere. Is it just me? Not just you! I swear I hear Bruno in the chorus, but it may just be that I can't un-hear BM from listening to the demo. I should have learned my lesson from the BTIKM demo..... I swore to never listen to demos again!! Argh! |

I think you're right that Cuckoo is hookier than Trespassing but Trespassing is so anthemic, so Adam, so in-your-face, soooo what I wish I could shout at my universe, that I hope it becomes a smash. If that means it has to follow a couple of other songs, I'm okay with that. I just want it to smash for him and go down in history. Ya know?  I know!! Right there with ya!!! Whatever hoops must be jumped to get this Adam anthem blasted through the universe! But I sure feel better knowing those hoops sound so great! |
