OT- Just caught BTIKM video on VH1 (7:50 central time). It still gives me a thrill each time I manage to catch it before work and I am glad it is still in the AM rotation. :D When I watch some of the other videos I can't help but notice how sex is such a MAJOR theme in so many of them. Makes me frustrated and sad that this is such a taboo for Adam and seriously limits his ability to express his creative genius in an honest way. The phrase "Sex Sells" is still so true in our culture, but the narrow minded among us really do put him in a straight jacket.  . I would do anything to see a full out, no holds barred video of one of his new songs. (Imma thinking Shady or Broken English.  A girl can dream, can't she?) Someday ,hopefully, equality sooner than later. There was a time the music business & society were totally bigoted against black singers. They had to go in the back door when performing, When traveling between gigs they couldn't stop to use a public toilet or go to a family restaurant. They never showed their sexuality,because it represented danger and white and black singing together,OMG! If this type of racial injustice could be overcome,I have really high hopes for Gay rights . Someday Adam will be able to sing his heart out freely without a raised eyebrow. Today my DH and I go to phone bank for equality in marriage. The NC congress added an amendment to our state constitution against same sex marriage. The bill would actually hurt benefits for all folks who aren't legally married. The voting takes place in May. BTW same sex marriage is already illegal here,but the GOP wants to put this in stone. Please forgive my tirade, I guess I'm fired up because I'm getting myself revved up to make phone calls. :-/ |

Adam must be dead tired.. This really is a mini tour and we are so lucky to be able to see and hear him,even if we're miles away. Last night was awesome,in my robe watching the whole Bing affair from my comfy chair. Thanks Adam you always make my heart skip a beat I know what you mean. I lie on my bed in jammies with my laptop and just enjoy this man.  |

I get that everyone has opinions, and not everyone has to like every song. But dang, it's disheartening to read so much trashing and mocking of songs that happen to not be your favorite. It's not like it elevates one song when another is ripped apart. I don't get it. Especially after a fantastic livestream like tonight. I wanted to bring this over from last night and say, THANK YOU, whatfun !! I was cringing when I read some of the posts that were trashing his music that he worked so hard on, FOR US. So what if he didn't write some of the songs, he still chose and recorded them and put his own sound on them and his own fans ridiculing for sport was totally uncalled for, IMO. Okay, you don't like the song, that's fine, we got it, but beating it like a piñata isn't really necessary. We know his friends and relatives are aware of this board; I can't imagine them reading some of the posts that tear his work to shreds. His performance of NCOE is breathtaking. Happy birthday lifeisnow and animeearth!!!! |

I was at Bing yesterday with JoGib (Atop lurker). We got 2nd row seats right in front of Adam!! The acoustics were great and it was a very intimate space. There is no doubt that he is best seen and heard live! The voice and charisma are huge. NCOE is my favourite and the live performance was fantastic; probably because he changes a song up every time he sings it so it is fresh. When he asked what we wanted for the third song, the loudest cheers were for Trespassing and Cuckoo. Dunno why he went with WWFM ! I was slightly disappointed as I feel it was an opportunity to finish with a new song. Jo and I got our pics taken just the two of us with Adam ! It must have been our lucky day, what with the second row seats! He looked so slim, clear and composed. The voice was EFFORTLESS AND FLAWLESS! I have 4 thoughts about why WWFM --- 1. Maybe it was the song title that sounded loudest to Adam. 2. It was the song he was going to perform but he wanted to make it more fun by letting people yell for their fav. 3. It was one way to keep people talking about T & C without performing them. 4. Adam wanted to perform a new song live for this event. -- The angst over RCA is not really warranted. There is no sign of anything unusual going on.
DRAMATIC LICENSE TAKEN HERE --- The logic goes like this. RCA will pick NCOE. NCOE is not the fan favorite based on the fan polls. NCOE is boring. NCOE will not get airplay. Adam won't get a 3rd album. His career will be over. Seriously, think about this a bit. 1. RCA wants Adam to succeed because that is how they make money. 2. They may pick NCOE or one of the other 3 possible singles. They appear to be using research and also consulting with PDs about single #2. RCA will pick the next single based on more info than we have. 3. The single they pick may or may not get massive radio airplay -- but any of these 4 tracks will get airplay. THE ONLY QUESTION IS HOW MUCH AIRPLAY. 4. WITH OR WITHOUT any more radio airplay, "Trespassing" will sell more than enough for Adam to have a 3rd album. (Doubt me, look at David Cook who is working on album #3.) 5. Trespassing, Cuckoo, Naked Love and NCOE will all be released as singles on 5/15/12 (along with the rest of the Trespassing tracks.) If Cuckoo is the big single people in the biz think it is, it will sell. 6. One of the challenges with FYE is that they did not have another single after IIHY. (Sleepwalker fans, look at what happened in Canada. Not every great song is a hit single.) They will easily have a 3rd single from Trespassing. So if NCOE is next (and I am OK with that), that leave the irresistible Cuckoo for single #3. 7. Adam can really sing NCOE -- and last night's performance was great. And a song like this is something that can be very popular with casual fans and bring in new fans. IT WILL ALL WORK OUT. Finally, I think this horse died yesterday. If you have a new thought, feel free to post. If you just want to "whine and cry" -- why not just listen to Trespassing instead and "shine". And above all -- let's not worry about things that might be when there is no evidence or indication that there is anything other than great stuff happening. OFF MY SOAPBOX. Now on with a  day in Portland!!! PS I can live with all four being released as singles, in any order!! |

FWIW I loved that performance of NCOE! Maybe Adam didn't write it, maybe it's not as edgy as some of us would like, but it sounds like Top 40 gold. And that's exactly what he needs at this point.
