I completely agree with both you, Q3, and Rihannsu.  That is exactly how it should go. I am guessing single to radio either 4/10 or 4/17. Good guesses! Oh, I have been reading my new RS the past few days. It is a great Spring music issue! RCA really knew what they were doing when they chose May 15th. There are some big releases right before that 5/1 & 5/8. Two big ones the week after, John Mayer and Usher on 5/22. But May 15th looks perfect for Adam making a high showing! ETA: Why do I have some words coming out blue today? I have not used any colors at all. The same thing happened in my numbers thread post :-/ |

Does anyone else cringe a bit when Adam uses the word "disco" when describing his new album?
I personally loved the disco era, but it has a fairly negative connotation in a lot of circles. I have heard him use more current terms to describe the sound. I think he should just stick with that.
Not that I am saying what adam should or shouldn't do.... blah blah blah.

I love BTIKM and will continue to request it. I don't think it matters which song is released. Radio will play what is requested. We have to continue to request BTIKM to show an interest in the artist. Adam needs our support. The "hit" will come if and when he gets played. So, bottom line, we need to keep requesting the ARTIST.

Can't wait!! I'm guessing he'll play NCOE and "Cuckoo" and gauging best reaction is a good idea. The disco thing doesn't bother me. Trends are cyclical and to my observance since I was a kid, they go in 20 year cycles. For instance, the '50s were huge in the '70s – "American Graffiti," "Happy Days," "Grease" ... and The '60s were big in the '80s – sooo many of the movies has '60s-music soundtracks – "The Big Chill," "Dirty Dancing" ... so it would make sense that '90s house music was heavily influenced by '70s disco and that trend is due for its swing around this decade and I think Adam knows this. |

(I don't think Adam has to announce a song he performs on NNN as his official next single, does he? As others have suggested, maybe they'll just be introduced as songs from his new album Trespassing. I'm ready for the next single though....bring it!)

I can't find the NNN comment but a few times on this promo tour he has referred to BTIKM as his "new' single -- he did it for one of the Portland visits. If anyone has the link, please post. He has said he will perform the new single on Idol and said it would be released "very soon" which is before "ish" I think.  The timing works for it to be on NNN. But there is no word that radio stations have been sent the track yet or even know which track it is. If Adam performs his real new single on NNN -- which is taped on April 5th -- we will find out what it is because there is an audience. And with no announcement yet, it could be the announcement. Nothing traditional about this promo, so I doubt they will get typical now -- but debuting a new single with a live, recorded performance on LOGO, would be a bit out of the box. It would also be a sign that they really want to have support from the gay community for this single. Whichever track they pick, and whatever the promo plan and schedule -- I sure hope this single gets a Z100 and/or KIIS/Ryan Seacrest World "premiere" spin. I would even be happy with a Q102 Philly + WPLZ Tampa + a few other Clear Channel hubs. After all the promotional groundwork -- enough to make my head spin -- I want to hear this new single all over the radio. I am marking my calendar for "very soon" and can't wait to hear the new single. Here's my thought for what it's worth. Debut the new single on NNN and send to radio then perform it on Idol in May when it has had a chance to get some traction on radio. This makes perfect sense and I agree with you (and Q3) 100%! This is RCA we are talking about, though. Most of the time, they don't do the things that make sense. I'm preparing myself for the single to be rolled out when Adam performs it on AI. I could seriously see RCA thinking this would be a "great idea". : Anything before that, will make me happy! I'm just not a glass half full thinker when it comes to RCA. I DO think they believe in Adam and this era and are fully supporting him. They just do some backward ass things a lot of times! |
