Okay, I'll ask this question one more time in a different way since no one answered it. Is Adam and the label asking the radio people which song of the four they would most likely play while he's been doing this promo tour.

I think they might have asked some PD's to sample and critique but most likely RCA did some number-crunching and extrapolations based on previous single models for radio and is choosing the next single that way. Adam can give suggestions but mostly the singles are RCA's show.

They have asked radio and music industry execs in the US, UK and several other countries.

Sometimes I wonder if that is an urban legend made up by Idolberts? I'm sure RCA has to a certain extent, but I doubt any PD is going to give a guarantee that they will play any song. (unless we are talking about KP, Madonna or Gaga)

I don't know if they're asking which song they'd be more likely to play, but I sure hope they're asking which song they like!
We heard about listening parties in the UK.....have we heard about listening parties in the US??

I mean, couldn't it go this way: PD says, "Adam, you must put out Cuckoo next because we love that one and we will play it every hour of the day". Or, do they just say, "Adam, we love you and think you have a wonderful voice. Good luck". ;D

I was riding in my car with my three grandsons tonight and had the four snippets playing on repeat and asked each to tell me which they liked the best. The 6yr old loves Cuckoo, the 10 yr old loves all of them, and the 14 yr old loves Trespassing! They all were moving in their seats to all of the songs so Adam is definitely going to get the kids to move to this album!! ;D
My favorite is Trespassing, Cuckoo, Naked Love, and then NCOE. But I have to admit...NCOE has really started to grow on me and I find myself singing it in my head along with the other three. They are all really good so I'm not worried which will be the next single. This is going to be a GREAT album...I can feel it. And we haven't even heard the slower songs. I remember some of the music people saying how great Underneath was not to mention we have yet to hear Shady and Kickin'. And we have OLL too!!!! Gonna be a 'kickass' album!!

Sometimes I wonder if that is an urban legend made up by Idolberts? If this is an urban legend, they have a lot of PDs playing along. We know they are asking. What we do not know is what the answer is or if RCA is listening. I do consumer testing, and have found that consumers/music listeners can tell you what is really bad but often miss big hits. Radio stations/networks also do their own research. Go back and look at what people posted from FYE -- vlery few mega-fans picked WWFM. It was labeled boring. Worked out pretty well. I think that #2 will be Adam's lucky number this time too.

Or, do they just say, "Adam, we love you and think you have a wonderful voice. Good luck". ;D I was just kidding around because I don't really know a thing! My guess is the PDs are pretty noncommittal, because that way they won't piss off record labels, artists, and their fans who are the listeners. I'm sure it's one huge political cluster-fuck and I can't imagine being involved in that end of the music business! Q3: LOL I know that it is something that actually takes place. I was just referring to the fact that I have seen the statement about testing the singles for radio PDs a hundred times over the past couple of years. I've seen it mentioned for every Idol contestant from any season that ever released a single on any format! That's why I said it has become an "urban legend" in the Idol world. We always hear about this mysterious happening, but most of those singles just keep flopping! SO TRUE! Most of the time this is the case! Fan's favorites are rarely radio singles!

When a group of us were discussing/debating the merits of BTIKM on Twitter w that Buffalo PD, she let a couple comments slip that we're very telling. She was trying to explain why they were underwhelmed bt BTIKM and she said, "We were expecting magical things from Adam." This, in addition to the comments TK said to fans last fall (not knowing they were fans) about the buzz on Adam's album indicated it was good. VERY GOOD. And the PDs were expecting to be blown away.
Then RCA balked and went with the "safe" first single and from what Buffalo PD said, they were expecting so much more. I think it suffered from it not living up to THEIR (unfair) expectations.
THIS is why I think that NCOE as again the "safer" choice, that is not Adam's song, (though yes, he will make it his own), w Dr. Luke production, etc. runs more of a risk of becoming BTIKM2. "Safe" just doesn't work well for Adam and I think the PDs were reacting to that and "punished" BTIKM in the process.
This is why I think "Cuckoo" is the better choice. I love the song NCOE, it's fun, beautiful and catchy, but rather bland thematically. Whereas "Cuckoo" has sass, humor and attitude and is uniquely Adam. From what she said (and she said repeatedly she was a fan of his), they want to be blown away. So to really do that, the "safe" choice could prove very difficult, IMO.
