My theory is that by not releasing a single after IIHY in the US but continuing to release various songs around the world they put US radio in the position of having to push them to release something. I've have long had a feeling that the way Adam's rollout was structured they were always erring on the side of making radio come to them. My feeling is that they did very strategically specific pushes along the way for WWFM and IIHY but for the most part let TV and video in the beginning and then later tour and video do the majority of the promotion. They also did more small station promo combined with the tour but again it seemed to me that in most of those cases the stations were competing and pushing to get him because of the demand rather than him having to fight for promo spots. I remember when people were complaining early in the album release cycle that he wasn't doing enough radio promo and my gut feeling then was that they focused more on pushing TV and VH1 and kind of played hard to get with radio maybe doing deals with just a few big stations initially like Z100 then IIHY actually started with small stations mostly adding along the way coinciding with tour dates. I just strongly feel that they have been making radio come to them. Doing Aftermath as a charity release is a great way to "let" radio have another single and promo has probably built naturally as news of the release got out. Adam stated clearly early on that it WOULDN'T be released to radio and now it is which to me says maybe the radio stations themselves pushed for it. My understanding was that RCA had to push really hard to get radio stations to play Adams music. I don't think they were waiting for the stations to come to them, but rather the other way around.

OMG I'm so nervous but excited at the same time. I'm having a hard time auditorily thinking how a remix of a song which I really enjoy would sound fast paced. Time will tell.
I stopped listening to Q102 becuase they stopped playing Adam's songs and now what I don't do to listen to crap waiting for Adam. We are all going to heaven!

Adam stated clearly early on that it WOULDN'T be released to radio and now it is which to me says maybe the radio stations themselves pushed for it. This is a very interesting theory and I hope it is true. I really think they had to use very different tactics with Adam. Rihannsu, I just noticed you are in Davenport, FL, I am in Spring Hill, FL not too far away! I wanted to say that 933flz in Tampa played WWFM and IIHY quite a bit but not nearly as much as the usual suspects. When Adam performed at Tropicana Field and there were supposedly up to 20k people that stayed for the concert, not to mention stellar reviews, I thought local radio would take notice and realize that Adam was a draw and more popular than they thought. However they still dropped IIHY fairly quickly after it peaked while they still played other music ad nauseum. I still think many PDs are resistant to Adam because of his sexuality and it has taken Adam and his management going to much greater lengths than usual to prove that the public is much more accepting than they think. I live just south of you and I said this yesterday about 933flz they did drop him but mix100 has been playing both songs all day up until a few weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if they play Aftermath. I made my requests on both stations this morning. I think Ryan's show is at 2pmEST on 933flz On another note those living on the West Coast of Florida we should get together and do our own GNT/DVD showing when it comes out.

I now think that the next album should be called "Sore Thumb Cheesefest" and nothing will change my mind. I'd pick up an album with that name for sure! I liked the sore thumb cheesefest. Loved the song and Adams voice on it. What I hated was Alison shrieking in the background. haha - me too. As for radio play, I believe that RCA pushed HARD for WWFM and IIHY radio play. Q3 stressed that point many times. Hopefully, album 2 radio play will come a bit easier now that he has had an established successful presence on radio.

I'm not so sure Rhi's theory doesn't have some merit actually.
A lot of artists USED to go overseas to promote themselves and then they would break them in the U.S. NSYNC did this as did bands in the 80s.
I think with Adam's continued success in the overseas market that it's easily believable that U.S. radio could finally be accepting that listeners will not only accept hearing Adam on the radio but they WANT to hear him on the radio.
With the release of each new song that charted well outside the U.S. that was just further proof that Adam is a viable and marketable pop star.
I get that there are plenty of international pop stars that get next to no radio play in the U.S. but I'm not sure how not many of them are from the U.S. and none are from American idol in particular. It would just make U.S. radio look silly IMO.

THIS IS THE PAGE FOR INTERNATIONAL FANS I DONT KNOW IF ITS THE SAME AS THE US I see you international Adam fans! FYI: audio from Ryan's interviews is available as a podcast. First place you'll usually find it for (official) download as MP3 is the KIIS FM website. There may be an embeddable player on www.ryanseacrest.com later. It's worth keeping an eye on @rsp and @1027kiisfm as well as @ryanseacrest. We'll retweet anything we see on @seacrestfanzone or @ryanradiofans. If Ryan mentions Adam before the interview, we'll include an audio clip on the recap page. Any access problems, tweet @h269 for help. OMG I 'M SO EXCITED!!!!
