Adam tweeted earlier to credit Howard Benson on vocal production, so I think you are right that this was a different recording of the song. adamlambert Adam Lambert keep requesting #AftermathRemix! (props to Howard Benson for orig vocal production) 6 hours ago Just my humble 2 cents on the subject of Howard Benson vocal production. When an artist like Adam that has unlimited range and a vast pallet for vocal phrasing embellishment is in the recording phase of a song, the producer &/or artist will usually record a variety of different vocal tracks, so when they are doing the final mix of the song, they can choose what feel/vibe the want the song to have. When Adam contracts someone to do a remix of his music, they will be supplied with all or most of the tracks so the remixer will be able to have the full pallet of tools/tracks available to create there "magic". So when Adam credits Howard Bensons vocal production, the vocal tracks we hear on the remix where recorded and produced by Howard during the FYE recording, so Billboard used some vocal tracks that where available to him that weren't used on the FYE version of Aftermath because Howard chose to take the FYE version in a different direction. Sorry if I was rambling or that did not make any sense! LOL Not to the end of the thread but THANK YOU kanadie That is what i was trying to say to my previous post and my english didnt help me

Random pics from twitter, good night! deleting the first picture because it's so large, how about this one, instead. that was a very pleasant way to end the evening. I love Adam when he is intense, but not as much as I love him when he is grinning, not smiling, but grinning like a fool.

I know nothing about dance/club songs. However, I am puzzled by people saying it is slow. I read somewhere that the typical club beat is about 131-132 beats per minute. If you count the beat in Aftermath it comes out right at 132 beats. Seems engineered for the club beat. As to length, I had the impression that club mixes tended to be longer than radio, to keep them all dancin'. Ah, but what do I know? ETA: Ce Lo's F you is exactly the same beats per minute. You nailed it -- 130-138 BPM --- clubs need to do a continuous beat track and that is about as fast as people want a beat for continuous dancing -- slower than 1970's disco which was not continuous. It is AWESOME!! I have been playing it on repeat for about 12 times and do not want to stop!!!

Just got home and had the chance to blast listen to Aftermath remix in the car with great speakers. It is wonderful. I normally get bored quickly with the remixes, but I have to say this Billboard guy really uses the instrumentation and electronics in service to the voice and the lyrics. He's kind of a genius. Adam starts out with what I call his "caressing" voice... velvety, friendly and intimate, as if he's focusing his attention on one person-- perhaps a child who is in pain and scared. He's saying, 'hey, I see you, I can see you've lost your way, but I'm here now. You can feel safe with me." Adam is, more than anything else, APPROACHABLE in this song. His tone and the melody are slightly upbeat, his crystal clear vocal invites you to listen to what he has to say. The music allows the voice to deliver message and emotion and-- important-- it builds, ebbs and flows at appropriate times. When Adam sings, "Don't be afraid of what's inside" his voice is clarion strong but the music is restrained. Restraint-- what a concept. The percussive elements are complex.. from straight disco beat (THUMP THUMP THUMP) to little rhythmic breaks with the electronic drums, and to that syncopated base and drum interplay on the bridge. I am not sure if I'm describing these variations correctly, but what struck me was the sophistication-- and yet simplicity-- of the beats. Adam's voice builds.. and builds.. and builds to a buoyant call for freedom and courage and action.. all the while reassuring his listener that he or she is not alone.. in the aftermath. When he sings, "All you feel is love.. love.." you feel HIS love.. and the joy along with him.. You WILL be all right. You can sing, come out, connect. Your world is full of light again. Even the ending-- that long disco "one day one day one day".... is a joyful injection of hope for the future-- and an infectious invitation to throw off your fears and DANCE. I think it's beautiful. aloha YOU are beautiful!!

Not sure where to put this post --- daily, masterclass, Idol. Oh well, tell me to move it if it is in the wrong place. I don't understand why I am so defensive and pissed when folks compare other singers/Idol contestants to Adam. I mean, I know that someone else succeeding will not take anything away from Adam. I know that there is not gonna be an Adam version 2.011 to replace him. I know that Adam is not just the celebrity pop star du jour. I know that he has an extraordinary voice and talent. Just listened to the audition again, and remember first hearing it. I was kinda watching Idol for some mindless entertainment, but not paying enough attention to get too creeped out by the terrible presentations/vocals. Adam's segment started and I heard him say he had been doing theater since he was a kid. Mmm, okay, so have lots of folks. Doesn't mean he is any good. In the audition room Paula says he was in the cast of Wicked. Okay, now that is interesting. Sounds like a professional production if he was in it for a year and a half. Maybe this guy CAN sing and dance. He's got my attention. I don't have to cover my ears and look away from the TV screen. Bohemian Rhapsody --- oh, god, no. This could be BAD! Don't go there. Then, he opens his mouth and sings "Mama" and my head literally snaps up and my body leans forward. WTF??? As he continues I think my eyes widened and my mouth fell open. DAYUMMMM!!! What a beautiful voice, so nuanced, so controlled. When Paula says "I think you are a really good singer" my inner voice responds, "Ya THINK??? That's the understatement of the year!" Yup, folks, he had me at "Mama." Couldn't wait to hear more. I knew what he just sang was not a fluke. It was the real deal. Now, two years further down the rabbit hole, I can honestly say I haven't heard any other singer whose voice I loved as much, who could do so many things with that instrument. Setting aside the showmanship, the glam, the gorgeous, sexy looks, even the personality, I would still be entranced by the voice alone. But, to have that coupled with everything else? Truly one of a kind.Nope, no one can compare. No one can replace that. No one is a threat. I think I get defensive and pissed because people cannot recognize that what Adam does with his voice and his presence is so beyond others out there. By comparing him to clearly lesser artists (who may be very good in their own right), they are diminishing what Adam does. Gotta just keep repeating the mantra, "Their loss, their loss." So glad that Adam's voice, his instincts, and his generous spirit are getting so much attention today with Aftermath. I wrote a couple of days ago that I would be visiting my parents Thursday night and wasn't sure how I could watch his Idol performance. Well, Thursday night has turned into a major family reunion, so there is no way to ignore all those loved ones who have come to see me in order to watch Adam. Sigh. But, I will be marveling with you all in spirit. cassie you always, ALWAYS express better than i could imagine my feelings for him. THANK YOU
