Somehow, after watching the TP vids, I cannot get wrapped up in what Adam's next single may be, what and when he will sing on Idol, or whether the DJs and PDs play his songs. That's because ADAM IS A STAR. He has come into his own, and he has this incredible arsenal of talent, charisma, craft, technique, performing experience, and creative vision that is firing on all cylinders in Era 2.
I am sure that the staging of Trespassing was almost entirely Adam. No one was crafting that image or telling him where to stand and how to move. It was smart, visually, with the tie-ins to the art work on the TP cover. Cohesive and striking. His choice of having the black gospel women as backing singers was surprising --- but not. They represented the "black woman," "Miss Thang" that Adam said lives inside him. But, more than that, Adam was illustrating his commitment to diversity and inclusion: gay, straight, male, female, black, white, petite, large, punk, traditional, all come together to share music and have fun.
And, of course, there was the incomparable voice shining thru. I cannot help but compare this staging and performance to the AMAs. The boy man has come a long way in less than three years. He owned this stage because he created the performance from the ground up: his music, his vision, his staging, his lighting, his concepts, his comfort zones, and his confidence. This performance was not of an Idol contestant play-acting the fierce, outrageous, sexy rock star. This WAS the REAL fierce, sexy, supremely confident, performer in control of his domain. Even tho we have this video, it only makes me more confident that the broadcast version is going to be very compelling, exciting entertainment. DVR set and ready to go!

This is how I felt last night, cassie. When I was driving home, all I could think of, "This is Adam! It may take longer because radio PDs are a$$e$, but no one is going to deny this man!" Everything about that performance was brilliant, right down to Ashley's gold tunic top and the yellow confetti!

Crashed before vids were posted, but WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE TO WAKE UP TO! Thank the universe for the ninjas! Thanks to Susie, MyS*&@^#r, Mayumi and Dietcoke for the details--and to everyone last night and this morning who brought the news/pics! The pics are GORGEOUS! His VOICE, the staging, the whole thing was fantastic! ADAM WAS IN FINE FIERCE FORM LAST NIGHT!!! I LOVED it, and can't wait to see/hear it even better on Monday! And--just watched the close-up vid PressParty included in their write-up...and he DIDN'T throw the mic--he just ripped it off the stand "decisively" and strode off with it--in this vid you can see it still in his hand as he leaves the back of the stage. STILL, very reminiscent of Zodiac ACIGC! mrkt.ms/HmiGBPWhat I love most about Adam TODAY lol is that he really does encompass so many moods...just think about the gamut of emotions he runs...from OOL to Trespassing in-yo-face attitude...ilhsfm.

Cassie, loved your whole post--but the part above reminded me of how excited I was to think Scarlett and Carmit would do backup...well, THAT turned out to be a total fantasy : ...a nice one...but I LOVE the actual decision Adam made with the gospel singers. IT SO FIT THE PERFORMANCE! Adam's Miss Thang is alive and well!

If anyone is wondering what we will wear to the new tour, since our glittery shirts are no longer "in." May I suggest black with yellow accents?!!

Cassie and Mys*&@^#r,
A sense of peace swept over me starting yesterday when we saw the track list. Rabbitrabbit was right. Singles exist for one purpose; to be played on the radio. Let RCA worry about it.
Once I stayed at a fabulous hotel in Hawaii that was renowned for its seafood buffet. They had snow crab clusters, Mahi Mahi fish, Cioppino mussels, seafood Newburg, shrimp curry, oysters, a giant salad bar, unlimited crab legs, and a zillion tiny desserts of every description. Suppose there are one or two dishes I don't like. How can I complain when I am presented with an incredibly delish unlimited fresh feast?
As for Trespassing ... my compliments to the chef. This is his signature dish.
