So dazzled. wal posted a picture of the "human rights salute" in the pictures thread. Sorry if I missed it earlier ... so much amazing stuff, who can take it all in? There is significance in Adam's black gloved right fist in the air. I first saw this at the Olympics in Mexico City when two American runners won gold and silver and on the podium raised their right black gloved fists in the air. Their medals were taken from them. I have raised a right fist a few times and my thought is "I am a human being too". Not all white males in my life have recognized this. My love of Adam goes beyond music and his beauty (physical and voice) to the heart of the man who I will raise my right fist in solidarity anywhere and anytime. Awesome post.  My mom told me about her feelings about this years ago. There was an outcry at first that the athletes chose to do this on an international stage -- airing dirty laundry so to speak. Over the years a feeling of understanding. Tommie Smith (on the left) later stated that his raised fist was not a black power salute but a human rights salute. Well said. Hope by Monday/Tuesday we get a photo or screen capture of this. The raised fist is such a powerful symbol against injustice, especially with the black glove, and for solidarity--and part of the reason I feel strong when I watch that performance. So cool that Adam incorporated it. Thanks for bringing this up. Also, is it very soon yet? |

does anyone know who viacom is? i see they have a huge lawsuit against youtube. Viacom owns MTV and I guess other TV channels. They are the ones that kept taking down the EMA videos too. |
