For me "I'll show you what it's cold means this: Actually I have to write the whole sentence " I don't need no GPS to show me where to go, but I can turn into the North pole and I'll show you what is cold" For me he means that he doesn't need a special device to understand when people don't want / like him, he says that is very simple for him to dig it when he's not wanted , when people behave in a "cold" way to him re : the music industry. The GPS thing makes me understand this like - "I don't need a GPS(=I don't take directions from anyone), and I can turn into the North Pole (=I can be a giant magnet, getting everyone under my spell + innuendo, of course ) and I'll show you what is cold (=and you'll see if the North Pole is really as cold as they tell ya. *cue crotch grab* ;D )" basically, "don't tell me what to do, 'cause I'll get all of you under my spell in no time" ;D LOVE THAT!

Woot. I am loving Trespassing even more with this lyric discussion. stampsgal and konata provided insight I would have never known. As a youth i was not too much into lyrics or vocals, but more does it have a good beat, can I feel the music or does the music make me feel? Of course every once in a while there were provokative lyrics we kids would giggle or argue over. The thing I love about Adam is that you usually can understand the words he sings, but maybe not necessarily the meaning. I love how there is often a double or more meaning and opportunities for interpretation on sometimes a deeper level. And I appreciate everyone here that shares what it means to them.

I think we're going over the top again with our interpretations, lol, I still smile when I remember all the mythology/pomegranates discussions here and compare them to what actually happened. ( Adam explained it in an interview, as I recall the fruit was a 'spur of the moment' decision, no symbolism intended)
'I don't need no GPS to show me where to go, but I can turn into the North Pole and show you what is cold'
IMO, this means: I don't need any fancy devices for direction, I'm not an idiot, I know where the North Pole is ( you can locate it by the Northern Star at night/ the Sun by day/ moss at trees/ ...) but if you keep giving me this shit about No trespassing, I'm going to turn into the North Pole and give you a cold/ chill treatment... i.e. I'm not going to just stand there and take it.

I enjoy reading what the lyrics mean to each of you. I find it fascinating. I loved the performance and I can hardly wait to view it on TV.
This is a little OT but I was browsing and I popped into another blog just to get some of their opinions of the performance. As far as Adam's performance, they all loved it, however, there were some opinions about the backup singers that I found to be a little offensive. Everyone has a right to their opinion but I guess that I have always felt that you should be respectful. Some thought that they didn't fit with Adam( as in big women, choir robes, not chic like the rest of the band) I guess what I am trying to say is that it seemed to go against everything that Adam has been trying to say all along. It doesn't matter whether you are gay, straight, black, white, old, young, tall, short, heavy or thin, we can party together and we are one. If this is too off base, please feel to delete it. I just felt the need to say it out loud.
