I can't take credit for the post on recommended spelling changes for the English language. Saw it years ago and, in light of this discussion, googled it.
Want to add my voice to those saying that the grammar discussion today IS IN NO WAY A COMMENT ON THE POSTS HERE AT ATOP. Internet forums, emails and tweets have their own form of spelling and grammar reflecting the need to be concise; to show affect, inflection and mood to avoid misunderstandings; and to establish and reinforce a sense of community through the use of common vocabulary and expression.
Add to that the diversity of our members and the number of those with English as a second, third, fourth language, and all grammar and spelling rules are irrelevant on this forum. I do not want even one person to avoid posting here because of fear of judgment over grammar and spelling. Not only do the international members enrich us all with their perspectives, but they are invaluable as ninjas and translators. KEEP ON POSTING!
