The numbers I posted for JD were overall, not Rock. I know, I was just commenting that even though the overall numbers aren't great he's still doing well within his genre. If iTunes multi-classified the way Amazon and others do then Adam would get the same extra visibility by being higher up on those lists. While James won't likely ever approach superstar status the world of Rock has become a small pond and James could be a relatively big fish in the pond. While Adam competing in the ocean of Pop has to sell a lot more to make it to big fish status. Just the nature of market share.

I've only been using JD's numbers as a reference for what an Idol bump can do. He just reached 100,000 in sales and the album has been out five months. Not great, or even good, but maybe for smaller labels it is fine? IDK? Kris is on this week so it will be interesting to see if he gets as good a bump.

I checked Durbin this morning and he was in the high 200s and the album was 41. He was still very much there. He's still doing well in his genre as the song is #16 and the album #7 in rock. So he's doing well as far as rock acts go and is competitive in his genre. For my tastes however James success in the rock format just highlights how dismal the competition is right now. It takes a lot higher sales to be competitive in Pop though. I'm curious to see how well Haley does and in what formats. Are we not bothering with a new thread this week because of the lull between songs? The singles Rock category on iTunes is a big joke! Some of the songs on that list have been out for 30+ years. A song in the top 10 in Rock sells a tiny fraction compared to the songs on the top 10 Pop or overall chart. Being in the top 10 in Rock isn't very impressive. It's really best to use and compare songs on the overall charts to get an accurate picture of how a song is performing on iTunes. It took less than 48 hours for HTH to drop off of the main single's page (top 200). That's okay, but nothing to write home about. Cook and Haley did better on iTunes with their last singles when they performed them on Idol. It will be interesting to see how NAL does on iTunes with his new song this Thursday. It's the type of song that most AI viewers would probably like. I'm curious as to what they are going to do about that weak falsetto part of the chorus. That part was odd sounding at the vineyard gig a couple of nights ago. Maybe he will perform with backing tracks to cover up the weak parts? ???
